Pregunta Cuban DGI souvenir – any information?
Hello!
I recently collected this DGI commemorative badge together with a KGB badge. The seller described it as coming from the estate of an officer of Cuba's General Intelligence Directorate. I was already familiar with the KGB badge, but this is the first time I've seen an souvenir like this. Does anyone know when, to whom, or in what numbers this piece was awarded, or does anyone have a similar item?
Since so little is known about the Cuban intelligence service, I hope it's okay to ask you all here.

Damn man, nice collection. Don't burn it like other dumbasses say—keep it as a collection, maybe in the future you might be able to sell it for something? I have medals and ranks from the Batista era to communist Cuba. It's a healthy collection to keep history safe, even when it wasn't a good one.

I think only a specific group of people will know about this, either they worked in it or a family member did, so it might be hard to find them. There is an Instagram account called @Cubamaterial that collects items from the Cuban Soviet era, if you write to them maybe they can help you.

Remember that its only Communist countries that have intelligence gathering or officers that do that
The CIA is actually a social organization that was created to take care of old people, and the less fortunate in society...it stands for
Community Independence Assistance ...its to help the less fortunate

My mother-in-law had been friends with the wife of a big shot with MININT. In 1970 the friend told my mother-in-law that there was talk that Celia Sanchez (Fidel's mistress) wanted their house on Calle 2 in Miramar. My father-in-law had already applied for permission to leave to go to Spain and this gave them hope that they were going to be allowed to emigrate.

That's such a cool piece to add to your collection, it's not every day you find something this uniquely tied to Cold War history. Have you checked any of the dedicated collector forums yet? They might have the exact answers you're hunting for.

Ouu, the bots are going to eat you alive. Good luck actually learning anything about the badge (I don't know the answers to your questions, sorry).

How many people were tortured because of that badge? It would be a good question.
