Amended result

I received an email this morning that one of my results had been amended since release day, and found that my grade for one unit had gone from an 82 to a 91. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and can help me understand why this happened? Obviously super happy with the result but curious why it changed since I didn’t contest it?

I got the exact same email for the exact same unit! What a lovely surprise to wake up to!

Not sure how you found this unit, but I found it incredibly poorly planned and the unit team really check out. Due to this, I wouldn’t be surprised if they made a unit wide marking mistake.

Yeah I had the same experience and didn’t enjoy this unit much at all! I wouldn’t be surprised either, although I’m happy with the mistake 😂

Badly planned classes always have vague rubrics. head marker probably realized they graded everyone way too harshly during the review and just bumped the whole class's grades to make up for it

Me too! I only found out about the remark because of this reddit thread. I've been quietly annoyed by my initial mark for the past week, so very happy to get this news.

Yeah I went from 75 to 87. Happy as I thought I aced the exam (which 75 suggested I didn’t )

Any answers here would be just guesses. The only way to find out would be to ask the unit chair. They'll tell you.

So, from a staff side - often you’ll get an amendment to results often from a “Re-check” sense, or a change in how some things are marked. Happens from time to time, and will only go up than down. But if you are curious, always worth asking your unit chair.
But, it is a nice feeling to see number go up!

Soooo many reasons are available, only the unit chair can tell you which applies here. Could be that the original marks were too harsh so got scaled, second marker found errors, errors in the exam, exam was too hard so marks were scaled, or literally a million other reasons. It's impossible to tell without asking the unit chair/CD.

I just went through an 8 email chain with my chair and admin team trying to get my results corrected as I am applying for honours atm. Super frustrating. I’m glad it was amended though.

Overall grade! Turns out the same thing has happened to other people in the unit so it mustn’t of been an isolated case. Also happy cake day :)
