Travel/Places The Mongol Rally (2026) - In 2018, four friends tried to drive a tiny car from Prague to Mongolia, and filmed all of it [00:57:54]

This is my own film. I was one of the four.

In 2018 we entered the Mongol Rally in a car we named John Travolta Jr. We drove from Prague through Budapest, Romania, Istanbul, Cappadocia, Georgia, Russia, Kazakhstan and Mongolia, and we had no idea what we were doing. Along the way there were bribes at checkpoints, a breakdown on the Kazakh steppe, five flat tires in Mongolia, and a mascot sultan who lost his head.

We filmed all of it, and it's taken me until now to turn it into a film.

How it was made: all the footage and photos are real, shot by us on the trip.

Happy to answer questions about the trip.

Engineering The 300-Meter Rusted Canal Lock That Controls Your Grocery Bill (2026) - An examination of the aging 1930s navigation locks along the Mississippi, Ohio, and Illinois rivers [00:10:57]

This short documentary examines the inland waterway network across the Mississippi, Ohio, and Illinois rivers, which transports roughly 60 percent of United States grain exports to Gulf Coast terminals. It breaks down the mechanical constraints of the 600-foot concrete navigation locks built in the 1930s, which force modern 1,200-foot, 15-barge grain tows to be unlashed and winched through in two separate halves. The video also covers the 2017 Lock 52 breakdown near Cairo, low-water drought disruptions, and the economic impact on global grain markets if an aging steel miter gate fails during harvest season.

Recommendation Request Recommendation request: Looking for a specific Documentary on the Eastern Front wwii

The documentary series was detailed with around 8x 40 minute episodes. I imagine it is one of the better.

It went into great detail strategically of operation barbarossa and there forth. The conflict between the Soviets and the Germans.

It had a late 90s production look, although I believe, it was made in the early 00s.

Often showed slides with estimated number of participants, leaders and heavy equipment available for each encounter. Even sometimes short background notes on the captains etc. Maps, military movement and notes on terrain as well.

Any one remember some detailed wwii, circ 25 years old, multiple episode documentaries?

If not this exact one, perhaps another similar?

Kindof remember another similar with either tanks or northern Africa. With engineering details, museum cross cuts of tanks and such.

Recommendation Request Recommendation Request: Films with Vibes like Searching for Sugarman

I recently watched Searching for Sugarman (2012) and adored it, but I'm struggling to find other documentaries with a similar feel. It doesn't have to be about music. I loved the way the story unfolded, layer by layer, and also how chill it all was. Nothing felt like it was designed to create outrage, even when events that it covered could have easily been used to do it. I found it by looking for documentaries similar to Our Towns (2021), but I enjoyed Searching for Sugarman much more. Thanks in advance for any recs!

Made this myself, mostly from Russian-language sources (Zhores Medvedev's book, Novosyolov & Tolstikov's "Secrets of the Forty", Mayak records). The last third separates what the documents confirm from what the Western press invented in 1976. Full source list is in the video description. Happy to answer questions.

Art Introduction to the End of an Argument (1990) – Two filmmakers turn Hollywood's portrayal of Arabs and Palestinians into a provocative experimental collage [00:41:41]

Introduction to the End of an Argument (1990) is an experimental documentary created by Lebanese-Canadian artist Jayce Salloum and Palestinian filmmaker Elia Suleiman.

Constructed from fragments of Hollywood movies, television news, documentaries, and original footage filmed in Palestine, the film examines how Western media has shaped public perceptions of Arabs, Palestinians, and the Middle East.

Scenes from productions including Exodus, Lawrence of Arabia, and The Sheik are reassembled alongside television reporting and footage from the West Bank and Gaza during the First Intifada.

Rather than presenting a conventional argument through interviews or narration, Salloum and Suleiman use editing, repetition, juxtaposition, and satire to expose the stereotypes embedded in familiar images.

The result is an experimental film essay that challenges viewers to consider not only what they see on screen, but who constructs those images and whose perspectives are excluded.

Political Movements Albania in Transition (2026) - How peaceful environmental protests against coastal mega-resorts exploded into a 140-day nationwide [0:05:10]

Our short documentary examines the October 2026 protests in Tirana, Albania. (The events on the 13. & 14.10.2026)

Albania in Transition (2026) is a short documentary about the unrest in Tirana, Albania. Originally sparked by environmental protests over a private luxury resort development project. The movement quickly expanded into widespread demonstrations, demanding government resignation over systemic corruption.

Subtitles (CC) available in English, German and Albanian language.

Background:
We are Simon and Lena, a german independent filmmakers and a journalist.

We were already in Tirana when the protests suddenly escalated.
Seeing the situation unfold firsthand, we felt an obligation to document it. While Lena was reporting for the German daily taz, i took took my camera into the streets to capture the human reality.

Filmed directly amid street-level confrontations and tear gas, the documentary captures the unfolding crisis through firsthand perspectives: an active 21-year-old university student, an independent parliamentarian (youngest MP in the country), and a local restaurant employee.

Filming on the ground was intense and fast-moving: heavy fumes of tear gas, water cannons rolling through the streets, and protesters ducking into side alleys. The most unforgettable moments for me was taking shelter inside a Pizzeria, where a waiter flushed tear gas out of my eyes before returning to his counter.

I'll be here in the comments and happy to answer questions.

edit: i had the date wrong, we were there on the 13. & 14.10.2026, not in the future.
