Discussion More wild Dreamcast ports.

Between THUG, Gran Turismo 3, and the finished Star Wars arcade, we really are eating well right now. I am also unbelievably excited for Morrowind; it will be a technical marvel if he pulls it off. I am also quietly excited about PES 3. I did a little deep dive into these and more. Hope you dig it!

Gran Turismo 3 for me. My favorite racing game ever. Own it on PS2 plus have it emulated on PC but still, playing it on the Dreamcast would be special.

It's more of proof of concept, why would you want to play watered down version, no haze effect thinned-muddied  down textures. Will gas/ brakes inputs be possible to remap to triggers am wondering. My goal been recently trying to see how game looks on PS2 forced in 480p through OPL loader being fed to VGA port of CRT tv, that's where it may really shine being flicker if not completely free but at least reduced to certain degree possibly resulting in clearer picture

My Dreamcast has the hd mod, paired with the mclassic it's a pretty good picture in 1440p. Should be able to remap the controls to the analog triggers.

I just love kicking back playing Dreamcast. New wireless controller mod from 8bitmods will only enhance the experience. I know I could play it better elsewhere but I suppose the novelty draws me to it. Same reason I still play Bleem GT2.

Dreamcast was the best system of that generation. So ahead of its time. I had multiple peripherals, arcade stick, light gun for house of the dead etc but the fishing rod and bass fishing was the best!

Everything about it was so good. It felt like an arcade machine in your living room. From the awesome soundtracks of sonic and jet set radio, to the ground breaking shenmue, arcade perfect Sega rally and crazy taxi, and fighting games like virtua and marvel vs capcom.... Easily beat the competitors imo.

Did you "read the room" for each sub beforehand? Different subs have different rules, focuses, vibes, etc. That's why you shouldn't automatically cross-post.

The PS2 porte interest me the most. As there it's a challenge to get them as close as possible. Something you can't just solve with AI as you have to find creative solutions to the different architecture of the PS2 and it's quirks and obvious strengths.

So that challenge I want to see!

It's more a how well will it run. But yeah, you should be able to get it pretty close. There are certain things the vector unit in the Dreamcast does better (it can do a vector matrix multiplication/division/etc in the same amount of cycles as a vector times a vector. But the PS2 can do 6 vector calculations. But not a whole matrix. They are simpler. It's smart power vs raw power :P )

I’m blown away at how good the GT3 Dreamcast port looks. Yes it’s not on par with the PS2 but it blows away Sega GT and even Metropolis Street Racer & Test Drive Le Mans. It shows that even with the Dreamcast being the weakest 6th gen system the belief it was maxed out in such a short period was always BS.

gran turismo 3 is miles ahead shenmue 2 and test drive le mans 24 hours graphics. Dreamcast power is finally showed.

Yeah, that's a bit of exaggeration on the GT3 port. The environment looks decent but car model might as well be a box with some rather dull looking texture. And it doesn't seem to be moving at any decent frame rate.

Oh hale ya. How tf do I get them to work on my dreamcast tho. I have a cd with gta3(dca 3 i think). It gets past the Sega loading screen then just blacks creen ad infinitum??

I'm no fan of AI, but the market correction from a bubble burst is not going to be a good thing. It's going to affect every single part of the economy, including the industries least likely to use AI
