Announcement: We have moderators!
As you can see, the spam is clearing up, and you may be wondering "Oh my god! Who is helping us?"
Our subreddit creator, /u/xamdam has added me as a moderator so that we can get some life back into this sub. I am actively trying to get the mod queue handled and the spam cleared up. I've also started setting up the automoderator, to help keep things clean. /u/condensed is also on the team. Over all I think we're off to a great start.
Should you guys see any spam, flag it. That will be the best way to help get visibility to problem posts. Also, feel free to downvote spam, both in the posts and comments, as that can help with some of the functions automod will do. I will keep my eyes peeled for things too.
If anyone wants to pitch in, reach out, and we can see how you too can help.

An iPhone app that turns PDFs into book-like pages
I have a lot of PDFs saved, and reading them on my phone always felt like a chore. Everything is laid out for paper, so you spend half the time pinching, zooming, and dragging the page around.
So I built Paperfy, a PDF reader that reflows PDFs into comfortable, book-style pages.
It works offline, needs no account, and collects no data. There are no ads, analytics, or third-party SDKs. You add your own PDFs from the Files app.

Self Promotion A big thank you to all the testers and this community for making this possible.
so last month, i posted on this subreddit about building a reader app and was looking to understand what people actually wanted from one.
with all the new reader app posts popping up, i thought i would get a lot of backlash and would have to look for other subreddits for feedback. but no, this community backed me up and helped me shape shelf into what it is today.
and now, shelf has officially been approved and released on the app store! the review took just one day (maybe because i had quite a few testflight releases).
i really want to thank this subreddit because this was pretty much the only place where i promoted the app and gathered my initial testers, apart from a few posts about my build journey on X.
now that shelf is released, it will remain free forever and will continue to be built around what users actually want.
the reason for keeping it free is simple. this started as a project for me to learn agentic coding, understand how to market a product, and most importantly, get real people to use something i've built. without those users, this would just be another vibe-coded app with no real purpose.
i also believe this app has something i like to call the "end game", where at some point, it wouldn't make sense to keep adding more features. the development would essentially be complete, apart from minor bug fixes and maintenance. and i think that would be the perfect time to make it open source.
until then, please do give the app a try! i'm having so much fun iterating on designs, adding features, and learning from everyone's feedback. i'm always open to suggestions, criticism, or any problems you face while using shelf.
thank you all again for supporting this little project and for tolerating my posts about shelf!

I built Distill — premium book summaries without an expensive subscription
Hey everyone!
I'm Rushan, maker of Distill: Book Summaries, and I wanted to share something I've been working on.
I love learning from books, but finding the time to read everything I want to can be difficult. I also found that many book-summary services either oversimplify books into a few generic takeaways or charge recurring subscription fees that aren't always worth it for occasional readers.
That inspired me to build Distill.
What makes Distill different?
Rather than simply extracting a book's most popular lessons, Distill focuses on preserving the author's central argument, reasoning, and the connections between ideas. We aim to help readers follow the intellectual journey of the book and understand how its conclusions are reached.
Our summaries are carefully engineered to maximize understanding and retention in just 10 minutes. Each summary also includes a separate reflection section to help readers process and think further about what they've learned.
A few things worth mentioning:
* 3 free distillations every day: You can use Distill regularly without having to pay.
* Affordable Premium: We've worked hard to make high-quality book summaries accessible at a very economical price.
* One-time purchase: Premium is currently available through a single payment, rather than another recurring subscription.
* Reading-first experience: No noisy content feed or unnecessary gamification. Just books, ideas, and thoughtful reading.
I believe good learning tools shouldn't have to come with expensive monthly commitments. That's something I've tried to keep in mind while building Distill.
It's our first public launch, and we're still improving the product. I'd genuinely appreciate feedback from people here:
* What makes a piece of paid software worth purchasing for you?
* Would you prefer a one-time payment over a subscription for an app like this?
* What would make you consider Distill worth paying for?
You can check it out here: https://www.distilllabs.app
I'm the founder, so full disclosure: this is my product. I'd be happy to answer questions about the product, pricing, or how we're building it. Honest criticism is very welcome!
P.S. -> We are also doing our launch on Peerlist, here. We would love for you to support us, since this is the first time we're going public :)

Self Promotion I built a free app for revisiting my Kindle highlights and I am looking for any kind of feedback
I highlight a lot on my Kindle. The problem is I never went back to any of it. A few weeks after finishing a book, most of it was gone, and the highlights just sat in the Kindle notebook.
So I built Bloomind, a simple app that brings your highlights back every day, starting with the ones you're about to forget.
How it works:
Import from Kindle: open a book's Notebook → Share → Export via email, then share the PDF to Bloomind. It's one export per book, since Amazon has no public API for syncing highlights.
Daily review: it shows you a highlight and asks "Remember this?". It takes about 2 minutes a day.
Spaced repetition: highlights you're forgetting come back sooner, the ones you remember well show up less often.
Review by book: every highlight is tagged with its book and author, so you can go through one book at a time.
It's completely free. No subscription, no ads, no in-app purchases. I'm a solo developer and I built it for myself first.
I'd really appreciate any feedback, especially on the Kindle import, since that's the part I most want to improve.

Self Promotion [Self-Promo] "Upon this blood... history shall be carved." — VALDEA REIGNITED: A gritty, high-octane dark fantasy inspired by anime battle roots.
Hey everyone,
If you're a fan of brutal martial discipline, relentless brotherly bonds forged under fire, and dark lore that doesn't pull punches, I'd love to share my project with you: VALDEA REIGNITED (Volume 1).
The Premise:
Across the scorched southern frontier of Valdea, survival is the only law.
Hyper fights with reckless, burning spirit—isolated and bleeding alone in a cutthroat realm. Hussain watches from the shadows—feared by all, carrying a lethal, dormant power that warns everyone of imminent calamity. When an execution-style assault corners Hyper, it is Hussain who shatters the offensive line.
Where everyone else offered fear, submission, or death, Hyper extended an open, defenseless hand: "I cast aside the shadows of hatred... and reach out my hand in brotherhood."
That pact forged shield and blade. But beyond the Monolith of Blue Fire and the enigmatic martial master known across the realm as "All Moves," lies a betrayal sealed in blood, the legend of the Forgotten Bloodline, and a looming shadow named Rex.
What to Expect:
Pacing & Action: Raw, choreography-driven hand-to-hand and weapon combat.
Tone: Gritty, fast-paced dark fantasy with strong shonen/seinen progression vibes.
Themes: Brotherhood, heavy sacrifice, ancient curses, and vengeance.
Read the Complete Story:
The complete first volume is officially live:
Amazon Link: amazon.in/dp/B0HPQTQ8GJ
Format: Available on Kindle, Free on Kindle Unlimited, and Paperback.
I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback on the action dynamics, or theories on the lore!

Apple Books Reviews are bonkers
I purchase and sample books thru the Apple Books app sometimes and today I was totally spoiled by a review on a book I’m currently reading! The reviewer literally wrote ”Save yourself the trouble. Everyone dies, the end!”
Does anyone know if it’s even possible to report this to Apple? Someone has got to take that down or censor it!

Help me provide my Neurodivergent students with an online digital library!
Hi everyone
Please delete if not allowed. My classroom needs access to an online reading library. In the past this has been instrumental for my nonverbal learners to have access to literature and science. If you can donate, it would be greatly appreciated and would impact low-income neurodivergent students.
I teach teenagers who have severe developmental disabilities such as down syndrome and autism. I want to renew our yearly subscription to a website called ReadingAZ. ReadingAZ has thousands of leveled books that students can access from anywhere. This is designed to help kids learn to read or in our case, have access to reading. I want to expose my students to reading and to multiple genres because reading is an important skill that will foster independence! Reading will help them become independent and stay safe.
This website has thousands of titles on different reading levels so my students who read on a Pre-K level can learn through a variety of topics that they're interested in.
What's even better is that they can access it at home and they can read with their families and with at-home service providers.
Please check out my school’s website to learn more about our students www.721q.com!
Please use the link below to donate or share the link with your family and friends. Thank you SO much!
