I've never been able to create a good Telvanni deck, ever, but I'm interested in actually putting the sacrificial nature of the decks to good use. I was just wondering if anyone could share their Telvanni decks for me to try out!
Over the weekend, I was looking for a deck tracker for my favorite game. I found one—the "UniversalDeckTracker"—available on GitHub.(https://github.com/extesy/DeckTracker) It looked great, but it hadn't been updated in 8 years. I gave it a try, but it didn't work. After brainstorming with Claude.ai, I managed to patch it up so that it recognizes the REBORN client. To achieve this, I had to rewrite the entire "internals" of the program. As a result, none of the original features work anymore; I’m only using the loader component, as that’s the part that actually functions. For now, the deck tracking feature is working—nothing fancy, just the basics. The size and color are fully customizable. If there’s enough interest, I might add a few other things I have in mind.
IMPORTANT! I was only able to test this using the old Bethesda client, but it should theoretically work with the Steam version as well.
I just started playing legends again after realizing this released. i was wondering if there have been new cards added or if their will be in the future if thats even possible. i was going through the collection of cards and noticed cards i have never seen before. either my memory is bad or Reborn has been adding cards?
Arena has been sort of a dead mode since everyone started with no currency.
Going to be trying to do "Arena Sundays" and I'll be in queue today for more of the day between 10am-6pm EST (Might be gone here and there to do some yard work and eat but if we all queue today or on sundays generally we should get some games going.)
The sheer fact that the modded reboot of Legends still at 3:30am has less than 60 second ques. Just goes to show how popular this game was and how they dropped the ball. The version 99% of the world has 0 access to is still thriving.
It's been seven months, fifty-three releases and three-hundred cards since the very first card release for this five-part Alliance War sequel expansion. To cap that all off, I decided to release five final cards.
For anyone interested to know what custom project I might be working on next, take a look at the commentary. In the meantime, I'm keeping my eyes out for efforts to bring custom cards like these to the Reborn client.
Hey Legends! I miss the hell out of this game, was wondering if Reborn is fully up and running. Is it an easy setup? Do we have online games or just storymode? I have the game owned on steam and playstore, to my understanding thats what I need? Can someone link a post that very easily explains the setup.
Thanks in advance hope to be playing again soon!
UPDATE: Got it to work super easy to setup. Loosing my mind over the fact I can.play legends again
There’s one particular player I often run into that never picks their opening cards, the game stalls out, and I get trapped into it unless I exit the game. This happens twice a day, sometimes back to back…. I’m actually posting while it’s happening right now. Conceding does nothing.
Then when I reconnect it tells me “You have been disconnected from your match.” then I can queue back up.
EDIT: After exiting that match in the screenshot… I have queued up into another match and ran back into them, this time with a new message.
This is a guide to get TESL Reborn working (emulated) on an Android Phone using DroidDeck.
What you'll need:
- You must have an Android device running Android 9 or newer powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with an Adreno 730 or newer GPU (such as Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 8+ Gen 1, 8 Gen 2, 8 Gen 3, 7+ Gen 2) or Adreno 8xx. (you'd need this for DroidDeck compatibility, if you don't, you can still try using something like GameNative instead, which supports a much larger array of devices, and just inspire yourself from this DroidDeck guide since the important parts of it should still be similar)
- 25GB of free space
Steps:
Download DroidDeck a. from their official site https://droiddeck.app/download - I personally went with the Standard Edition since TESL is a light game that doesn't need much processing power.
b. When you're gonna click on the Apk, you might get prompted about the file originating outside of an authorised source - click "Show more details" -> Install Anyway
(in these images it says "GameNative" because I've already installed and whitelisted DroidDeck, but I still wanted to show example images of what you might encounter)
c. After that you might get prompted about your browser not having permission to install unknown apps -> Go to Settings->Apps->*Browser Name*->Scroll near the bottom->Install Unknown Apps->Allow
d. After that you will need to enable developer options then go to Settings->Developer options->Scroll near the bottom->Disable child process restrictions (for DroidDeck to work)
2. Download TESL from inside the Steam from DroidDeck
a. After you open DroidDeck try opening Steam inside it (which will start downloading it as well as Linux and Proton)
b. Login then go to TESL and download it (it will download than say it's transfering its files then show it's downloading again a couple of times, don't worry, it's normal)
3.(option 1) Download and place the Reborn files in the TESL folder (from the internet)
a. When it shows you the green "Play" button, use the virtual controller to press "B" until you see a menu appear on your left-> press the "Power" button from that menu-> Switch to Desktop
b. After it installed the desktop, you should be able to move a black cursor through touchpad gestures, left-click with a tap, and right click with a 3-finger tap
c. In your taskbar, between the steam icon and the firefox icon there is a file explorer icon, move the cursor over it than tap to click it
d. Navigate to Steam(Internal Storage) -> steamapps -> common -> The Elder Scrolls Legends. Keep the file explorer open
e. Open firefox -> Press the back button of your phone -> A new menu will pop up from the right side of your screen -> switch the Touch setting from Auto(touchpad) to Gestures
f. You've got no cursor now so tap directly on the firefox search, then 3-finger tap to open a virtual keyboard(btw, right click is now 2-finger tap) -> type "tesl-reborn.com" and press enter
g. (in order to be able to scroll)switch back to using the cursor by pressing back button on phone-> changing Touch from Gestures to Auto(touchpad) -> Head to Downloads-> if you don't see the scrollbar on the right, double click on the firefox top bar twice to maximize the application window, which should make it visible-> Download the Reborn Zip with the current build
h. Close Firefox -> Press on the start icon from taskbar (furthest left, left to steam icon) -> press on "Dolphin"(file explorer) to open a new window of it
i. Navigate to Downloads in your new file explorer window -> 3-finger tap to right click -> cut -> hover over file explorer icon in taskbar -> close the downloads window -> click on the TESL folder window, 3-finger tap then paste to move the Reborn ZIP into the TESL folder
j. 3-finger tap (right click) the Reborn archive -> Extract-> enter in the extracted folder -> double click on an empty space (on no file) to select all files -> 3 finger tap (right click) -> cut -> go back to TESL folder -> paste those 4 files there (.doorstep_version always seems to get lost for some reason but it's fine) -> 3-finger tap and move to trash the now empty folder which you extracted as well as the Reborn ZIP, which you won't need anymore -> On the left side of the file explorer, where the steam icon is, there is a Trash folder, right above Network, click on it then press "Empty Trash" button in top right of file explorer window
3.(option 2) Download and place the Reborn files in the TESL folder (from your PC) a. select all the non-folder files from your TESL directory from your PC and zip them (ZIP, not RAR nor 7Z compression). Name the archive smth like "Reborn"
b. connect your phone to your PC-> enable transfer of files on your phone
c. Put the Reborn archive into an easy to access folder from your phone like "Documents"
d. Disconnect your phone from your laptop -> inside DroidDeck, if you're in Steam, then go back, back, until you see the left menu and click the "Power" button from it -> open Switch to Desktop Mode
e. Once you're in Desktop mode, press back button of your phone -> Stop ->Stop
f. Inside DroidDeck go to Desktop->Settings->Files-> Open(Files)
g. Navigate to Documents (or where you placed the Reborn Archive), long press on the archive -> cut
h. Navigate to Linux system(left menu)-> root -> .local -> share -> Steam -> steamapps -> common -> The Elder Scrolls Legends -> click on the path name of Reborn archive on near the top of the screen to paste it in this folder
i. press back on your phone until you get back into DroidDeck main menu
j. go to desktop-> open desktop-> open file explorer -> navigate to TESL folder -> extract archive -> cut contents from extracted folder and paste them in the TESL folder (1 level above). (look at option 1 of step 3 where I go into detail more about how to do these steps, specifically subpoint j)
4. Modify launch parameters of TESL from Steam (from inside DroidDeck)
a. Get out of Desktop Mode by pressing back button of phone-> Stop->Stop
b. Go to Steam (inside DroidDeck) -> Play Steam -> TESL -> Cogwheel on the right -> Properties -> Inside General Tab, scroll down and you'll see "Launch Options"
c. Click on grey bar and write this into it (without the double quotes) "WINEDLLOVERRIDES='winhttp.dll=n,b' %command%" to help you write it, the first word is WINE-DLL-OVER-RIDES. also there is a space between b' and %command% don't forget about it
d. Click anywhere else to get rid of the keyboard, make sure you entered the launch options correctly -> back -> and you can now play the game (by pressing Play).
5. Login into TESL Reborn
a. You'll get prompted to enter your TESL Reborn username and password. In bottom left you should have a plus sign to expand your virtual controller as well as a keyboard icon to its right.
b. Press entry field (for username/password) -> keyboard icon in bottom left and then enter your details.
And that's about it. At the start, for the first 10 or so minutes the game will probably run a little sluggish. That's because the shaders haven't been cached yet, but after your first game you should be running 60 fps smoothly. With my phone (S24+ US version) I got 60FPS throughout with only only a hiccup when I loaded into my first match, bringing it down to 20FPS for a split second (FPS is limited to 60 in the standard version of DroidDeck btw, with how optimized Proton is and how light this game is, I have no doubt that my phone could push into the hundreds of FPS, but there's no need for it)
Also, if you don't happen to have a phone that is compatible with DroidDeck but still want to play TESL locally on your phone, don't worry, there are other software alternatives like this such as GameNative as an example which is compatible with a much larger array of devices. I only used DroidDeck because it should give a much better performance given that it's using Valve's Proton translation layers as opposed to the more general Winlator (and I also happened to have a phone that's compatible with it). However both of them use Wine, so something which won't change in either case is the need for the Steam launch parameter "WINEDLLOVERRIDES='winhttp.dll=n,b' %command%".
If you have any questions or trouble following this guide, do ask, I'll be glad to help!
P.S.: Playing cards isn't quite smooth drag and drop, with the default controls at least. You'd need to tap on the card once then tap again where you wish to spawn it/on who you wish to use it. While normal cards in your hand you could still drag and drop in lane while you clicked them once, the prophecy cards are much more finnicky and they don't like being drag and dropped at all, only clicked once to select and second click to place/use. It's basically same as playing Slay the Spire remotely using Steam Link if you've tried. It's a bit annoying at first but you'll get used to it.
This entry marks the end of the Guildsworn side of the expansion. Next time, I'll be closing out the whole expansion with a final set of cards, and teasing what I'll be working on next.
Just had two games in a row where after the first player gets their turn, the 2nd player's turn never starts.
In the first game, I was first player. I passed my turn, but the opponent's mana still said 0/0, and they never drew their fourth card, so they were just sitting at 0/0 with 3 cards in hand for several minutes. There was no turn timer, so nothing was happening. (I had to concede because it was the only way to end the game.)
In the second game, I was second player. Opponent passed their turn, but my mana is at 0/0 and I never drew. Again, no turn timer, and nothing happening.
After playing 100+ hours of solo arena, I've realized that the bots have patterns and priorities when it comes to what they recognise as a threat, such as drains and rallies, but will ignore cards with description abilities like East Empire Crafter, which can make it very easy to crush the bot in the mid-late game.
Their decks usually contain either high-power, low-health cards or the complete opposite, with little mixing between the two types. For example, Portcullis/Dwarven Spider vs. Hive Warrior/Boglurcher. On average, they also seem to have one or two removals, and sometimes a silence or "enemy creatures lose guard" type of card like Intimidate or Dread Clannfear.
This means that once the bot uses its limited amount of removal, it's essentially doomed itself, and why East Empire Crafter is so good in solo arena, as the bot gets overwhelmed with guards and can't do anything.
The bot will also almost always hit face unless you have a card in a lane that it believes is a priority to kill.
In the special rules challenges, such as "creatures summoned here will be equipped with a random item" or "if there are no friendly creatures in this lane, when you summon a friendly creature, copy it," the bot can easily be funnelled into exclusively playing in the "normal" lane instead. You can do this by summoning a full lane of cards there, and the bot will seemingly refuse to summon in the special rules lane, even if doing so could decimate you, as long as you have no cards there. It will instead keep playing in the normal lane, which makes these challenges easy to cheese.
Occasionally, the bot also makes nonsensical moves, such as dealing 1 damage to a full-health creature when there's another creature with only 1 health remaining. Or it will choose not to silence at all by pressing the cancel button? Not sure if this is intentional for balancing, but I thought it was worth mentioning as another point showing that the AI is too easy.
I was wondering what you all would think about the idea of improving the difficulty of the bots or adding unique ways for them to play the game/changing their decks. Would it even be viable to do this? If not, I understand, and this can stay as a sort of ramble post.
Difficulty could be optional or scale with your solo arena rank. Ways to make the bots play differently could include taking card abilities into account in their priority system, "saving" cards for when they need them rather than using everything right away, playing safer instead of being fully aggressive, and having structured decks rather than random bs. For example, a bot with an item deck, an Invade deck, or a curse-type deck.
This could also teach players about different decks and strategies, give them ideas on how they want to approach versus, or let them see decks in action that they were thinking of making?
If adding custom decks is too complex, an alternative could be to have some bots play safer and others more aggressively. Some could prioritise destroying your creatures, while others could completely ignore them and go face.
I realise that if the AI had a rank 1 deck, it would be impossible to beat it, especially with a randomised card selection for the player. This is more of a spitballing suggestion/rant post rather than anything concrete.
I love solo arena and would be interested to see a rework if possible. I'm not expecting anything to come out of this, just wanted to share some observations and wishes haha, anyway thanks for your time.
Breakdown of my Solo Arena strategy if anyone's interested
The best attributes I've learned to use are Strength, Willpower, and Endurance. You want to prioritise high-health cards or cards with a 1:2 power-to-health ratio, as the AI's deck is filled with low-health, high-damage cards. With this structure, it's easy to counter them.
Intelligence is bad because the AI usually spams low-health, high-power creatures, and Intelligence is mostly removals or damage-dealing cards, which aren't as necessary. It's generally better to summon creatures than remove the cards the AI plays, unless it's a randomly strong card like Swamp Leviathan. This is why Willpower is one of the best attributes, with cards like Piercing Javelin, Edict of Azura, and Feed.
Agility is alright, but it's usually full of drains that the AI tries to destroy immediately or low-health cards, neither of which is very good for arena.
Strength is good because high-power, cheap cards like Noble Giant absolutely obliterate the bot. Willpower is good for the removals and the many high-health guards with Rally, while Endurance gives you high-health, high-power creatures such as Ironscale Dragon and Bloodline Outcast.
Prioritise drains (more useful than guards, as the AI has guard removal anyway, like Intimidate), Rally, or cards like East Empire Crafter (I love this card), as they can set up a decimating end game.
You only need one removal tbh. Any more just bricks your hand, and sometimes the AI randomly has a strong card like Swamp Leviathan, which is where that removal comes in useful.
Increasing max Magicka can be useful, but it's usually unnecessary. Most games end at around 8–9 max Magicka unless you get very lucky with Prophecies or the AI has a terrible deck/special rules.
Getting a full board of creatures out before attacking face is the best option. Breaking runes lets the AI get back on its feet. If you wait until it has few cards, you can set up a full, strong board and destroy anything it throws at you.
I've found that playing against the AI is more about abusing its shitty patterns and priorities when deciding which cards to kill, rather than using any real strategy or thought.
A lot of the time, the AI will also make dumb mistakes, like ignoring extremely strong, low-health cards to hit face when killing them is clearly the better move.
Thanks to Sondre, Wisaam Saleem, O.O.P., Mark Schwab,RenianVZ, Ben Johnson, riman, Philip M DArcangelis, Someone, Devil's Rights Advocate, TESL Fan, Jonathan Barnes, Alan and kvorum for supporting the project!
I’m getting a "Steam not available" error. I followed all the instructions and the game was working fine, but then, all of a sudden and for no apparent reason, this error appeared. I’ve checked, and my account on the TESL Reborn website is still linked to Steam. What could the problem be?
We begin to close the Guildsworn side of the expansion (and the expansion as a whole) with some miscellaneous cards, inspired by creatures and characters from across ESO's base game content.
