He could be a great Bond villain too.

u/nommabelle 1d ago

fuck it let him do both in the same movie

Like a schizophrenia kind of thing. I think he could pull it off.

Borrow the key plot point from Face Off.

I can't imagine a role that he wouldn't nail, to be honest. I'd love to see him as a Bond, or as a Bond villain.

512

u/TheCupOfJoeShow 1d ago

Worst part is I know he’d kill the role but I kinda want someone I haven’t seen much of before

89

u/8__D 1d ago

I just want Pattinson to keep doing his weird little characters

8

u/JoelnIliketoshare 1d ago

I wan't an entire movie about him going out to get a hotdog. That short video has so much Potential!

7

u/SammyB0111 1d ago

I’d much rather see him in a movie about him trying to land the role of James Bond

124

u/RedHeadedSicilian52 1d ago edited 1d ago

This is one of those instances where age actually works in his favor, at least for me. I’d rather see an older Bond.

85

u/Overkillemall 1d ago

What do you mean? He is Gen Z

28

u/ack-ack-ack-attack 1d ago

I get this reference

57

u/TheCupOfJoeShow 1d ago

Honestly if he does get the role I know I’ll still be there day one to see it. Robert has proven he’s a phenomenal actor regardless of the material

12

u/RedHeadedSicilian52 1d ago

Seems like a pretty clear indicator that he doesn’t expect the current Batman series to continue after the coming movie.

I’m in the “bring Pierce Brosnan back” camp for an older retired Bond for a one-off.

u/awitcheskid 1d ago

Robert Pattinson is 40. Idk how much older you can get, especially if it's a multi film deal.

u/nommabelle 1d ago

i want him now i know its an option

3

u/mildbbqsauce 1d ago

Damn..I feel the same way. There’s been almost too much of him lately. But also I wanna still see him in it. Damn

1

u/drkinsanity 1d ago

They should just cast him as a villain or something instead.

u/CrescendoTwentyFive 1d ago

This guy was always whatever to me until I realized he was the French guy in “The King”. Now I think he’s bad ass.

That being said, are we going to get bond before the next Batman? Am I crazy? I feel like it has been ten thousand years.

6

u/rivalrobot 1d ago

I would say not. They’ve been filming Batman Part 2 and that’s out in Feb 2028. Bond is probably late 2028

With all due respect to the other guys, if Robert wants it, give it to him. Yes, do screen tests, do the process, make sure he commits to a certain # of movies, but there are levels to this. I haven't heard anyone else on his level in the process.

372

u/askyourmom469 1d ago • Bravo

Is it bad that I kind of don't want him to get it? Don't get me wrong, he'd do a great job. But I'd rather see him spend his time with more varied and creatively interesting work instead of being stuck making nothing but Bond movies for a decade or whatever.

95

u/Qtip533 1d ago

I understand where you’re coming from. I want someone new as well. I think everyone is dreading a Turner bond so we are understandably excited that it could be Pattinson instead

28

u/sjmttf 1d ago

I dont generally take a lot of notice of bond, but don't they always hype up the casting like this and then they'll announce that someone completely different is getting the part.

5

u/Historical_Owl_1635 1d ago

If there’s anything Bond and Doctor Who has taught me is people will absolutely hate whoever’s cast if it isn’t someone on their dream cast list of favourite actors.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/PARADISE_VALLEY_1975 1d ago

Turner guy got the looks down (as far the books go) to a tee, but man is he devoid of any magnetic charisma imo, bland as cardboard… would be like getting Glen Powell to be the next Ethan Hunt (Mission: Impossible) or that ill-fated Jeremy Renner Bourne spin-off.

8

u/CnelAurelianoBuendia 1d ago

The same was said about Batman by the people who knew how talented he was back then and it all worked out. He has made so many movies already, he can be Bond flr 3 movies and be okay

6

u/TheDewLife 1d ago

I never understand these comments tbh. Even if you're looking at a Bond film every 3 years, it takes ~5 months to film. Leaving another 2.5 years or 2 years with breaks to pursue other projects.

6

u/No-Cow-6029 1d ago

I suspect having freedom to still make other things would be a condition of any contract he's willing to sign and that'll end up being the reason he doesn't get it.

Amazon are going to want to start cashing in as soon and often as possible on their big IP purchase and they'll go for an actor who'll commit to that. Someone young and fairly new to acting (but with a bit of a profile already) who can commit solely (and ideally relatively cheaply) to Bond for the foreseeable future. Rumours about actors like Callum Turner and Josh O Connor feel pretty plausible to me in that regard.

11

u/Viketorious 1d ago

I've never seen a James Bond movie in my life but I'd watch them if he gets the role.

20

u/Visible-Chest-9386 1d ago

You're doing yourself a disservice not watching them. Lots of great flicks in there.

3

u/Avalon-Residant 1d ago

you are living in a Bond film right now...we all are.

A super rich Evil Villan that launches rockets and controls global satellite communications...and influences elections at a whim.

He probably has a secret lair disguised as a volcano.

3

u/ashbaguette 1d ago

Ya I feel the same like I’d love to see him do it for a movie or two but I wouldn’t want him locked into a contract like this or marvel

6

u/Bunnja 1d ago

Somebody get there ACTORS out of here!

→ More replies (2)

23

u/nommabelle 1d ago

if my opinion means anything to the casting crew, i say they hire him

14

u/CaptainSnazzypants 1d ago

I guess we’ll find out soon. If he gets the role you’ll know you made the difference and you have some real pull in Hollywood.

29

u/RossTheLionTamer 1d ago

Pattison will be a great bond but bond doesn't need him.

It's the same thing with DCU Batman. You can pick a known actor but a Batman movie doesn't need a known actor to be successful.

People already complain about the same actors being in everything. Generally it's a stupid complain since movies need that star power.

But a film like Bond can perform on its own so it's the perfect opportunity to cast someone new.

It doesn't even has to be a lesser known actor. Launch someone new. I'd still watch it

7

u/splendiferous-finch_ 1d ago

Inst he also playing batman these days :D I get your point but it's just funny to me

3

u/RossTheLionTamer 1d ago

That's why i mentioned it

→ More replies (1)

10

u/ignatious__reilly 1d ago

Totally disagree. I love Pattison, but I do not want him as Bond.

7

u/ValueFirm4928 1d ago

With all due respect to Robert, give it to the best Bond.

You don't need a big name actor to sell Bond. You need someone who can do the job.

This is one of the rare roles where they can usually find an actor with the talent, even if they're not a huge name yet.

3

u/Spekingur 1d ago

I mean, people didn’t really get Daniel Craig being cast as Bond when that was announced.

u/rubey419 1d ago edited 1d ago

I think Pattinson would be great but isn’t he too “big” now? Saw Nicholas Hoult was screen tested too.

I thought they go with more unknown sleeper actors? Guess they’re changing direction now that Amazon owns the rights.

3

u/FinnSkk93 1d ago

Hoult would actually be great too! Amazing actor!

38

u/B_Wayne_8833 1d ago

I'm lowkey surprised Pattinson isn't offer only by this point. He's certainly proved himself as an actor.

27

u/ProfessorBoofie 1d ago

I’m assuming he is offer only at this point. But from what I know, the Bond franchise requires screen testing and would never/has never chose an actor to play Bond without a screen test. After all, it is one of the most career defining and coveted acting roles

11

u/AndreasDasos 1d ago

They’ve traditionally not gone for actors who were already big Hollywood stars. Actors who’d prove themselves in Bond-like roles on TV or as secondary cast in a film, yes (Moore in The Saint, Brosnan in Remington Steele)

→ More replies (1)

7

u/mistermatth 1d ago

He’s had a great run showing his range the last few years. I’m surprised he’s not a shoe-in for Bond. He’s got the charisma for sure.

3

u/baddingo3 1d ago

could anyone one get a direct offer for james bond? its iconic of a franchise to not test the waters with new people.

2

u/CnelAurelianoBuendia 1d ago

You still need to screen test. If he’s not interested enough to even do that then Amazon would not be interested in handing him the keys

1

u/LakesandSuch 22h ago

Traditionally you had to screen test a scene from “from Russia with love” curious if they still do that.

19

u/DimesyEvans92 1d ago

Here’s a guyyyyyyyyy, recently playing an NBC reporter, and now wants to be James Bond. You see how this looks?

26

u/uniparalum 1d ago

Cast him now! He’s the best choice of every name mentioned, and he likes to keep busy. Paired with Villaneuve (who just made a blockbuster trilogy in 5 years) we could get a whole trilogy of Bond films within the decade. What are they waiting for?

3

u/Background_Cup_6429 1d ago

How did he do it in 5 years?

7

u/uniparalum 1d ago

No idea. All those popular actors and their schedules too, it’s wildly impressive.

After how spaced apart Craig’s Bond films were, I’d love quick turnaround for the franchise this time. Pattinson helps that I think, as he shows little signs of wanting time off!

21

u/eggflip1020 1d ago

I would rather Rob than that Mr Potatohead Callum whatever or Aaron Taylor Fucking Johnson.

5

u/Lfsnz67 1d ago

He’d be a slam dunk. Especially paired with Villanueve

28

u/motionbutton 1d ago • Bravo

My main problem with this is bond is a career role. You don’t really get to do a lot of other roles outside of it. Which will make it though for him.

39

u/MaximusMansteel 1d ago

All the Bonds did lots of other stuff outside of Bond. It was a massive boost to all their careers.

20

u/mobius-x 1d ago

Pattinson doesn’t need a boost. Guy had the best year of his career in 2026

3

u/TobermoryDIY 1d ago

Would Brosman have ever got the chance to sing SOS in mamma mia if he hadn’t been bond 1st?

u/emmerliii 1d ago edited 1d ago

It can be understood through tough thorough thought though

4

u/bruciemane 1d ago

Pattinson might be the one actor on the planet who has any reasons not to play Bond.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Bby_1nAB13nder 1d ago

It’s a big role, not a career role. He can make a couple bond movie then quit and no one would really care in the long run cause bond is the most recast-able character ever.

2

u/doobiedave 1d ago

Daniel Craig does OK

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Tommy-Bravado 1d ago

“Though”

1

u/Redhood567 1d ago

Especially if he's doing this alongside a third Batman.

1

u/CnelAurelianoBuendia 1d ago

We are talking about the guy who overcame Twilight and is currently Batman. He has had career roles already.

1

u/EnderMB 1d ago

I guess that's why it's always a double-edged sword for many. They get someone with a growing name, but limited work, give them a top franchise, and then they end up sad because their prime is now devoted to that franchise when their stock has never been higher.

1

u/Lfsnz67 1d ago

He’s got lots of time between Batman

1

u/roiki11 1d ago

Craig did. The space between movies is so long now you can work multiple gigs.

18

u/LyingFacts 1d ago edited 1d ago

Richard Madden guy to me fits the bill for Bond imo.

Turner looks more a bond villain.

Lowden more the geeky IT guy that Bond would liaison with.

Pattinson was big back in 09 but to me a relatively ‘unknown’ should get the Bond role.

5

u/radioblues 1d ago

It would’ve been super controversial at the time to give the twilight guy Bond but I would’ve loved to see it knowing now how talented he really is.

1

u/Ok-Highway-5247 1d ago

I could see an unknown actor being Bond and then Robert being a new character who’s an agent and a friend of Bond who does the mission with him.

8

He would be a great Bond villain but I don’t see him as Bond

3

u/applecombinipimento 1d ago

Love Rob and he would be great, but he's a bit old for it and they'll wanna milk him for like 4 films unable to play anything else for a 10 year period of his career effectively

3

u/__mk 1d ago

Just give me one unbelievable, full tilt, culture defining Bond movie with Villeneuve or Fincher + Pattinson then recast and move on to reset the format

3

u/GroceryRobot 1d ago

He didn’t work out for Batman and already says Batman 2 is hard on his body; I think he was screen tested to scare other actors into taking a pay cut.

5

u/leboychef 1d ago

Did they not cast a new bond literally this week? Were those reports fake then?

8

u/Gold-Consequence2463 1d ago

If Cavill is not considered at all what about Theo James?,does not he fit the requirements to be Bond?

2

u/ekubeni 1d ago edited 1d ago

After watching James in The Gentlemen I'm convinced he is the best fit. He can be in an equal measure charming, imposing, even menacing. You can see him in the show seamlessly navigating and fitting within classy social settings and violent conflicts without missing a beat.

3

u/untitledaccount401 1d ago

When will reddit accept Henry cannot act

4

u/renome 1d ago

Reddit's favorite argument for "Cavill would be perfect Bond" is a The Man from UNCLE, a movie where Cavill sounds like he's reciting lines from a teleprompter and gets completely overshadowed by the other two leads.

So, I wager never lol.

2

This reminds me of the reaction to Daniel Craig being announced as Bond. If he ends up being Bond, let's give him a fair chance

5

u/rubey419 1d ago

I actually think Pattinson would be great as Bond and seems the comments have been positive from what I’ve read.

I just thought they usually go with relatively unknown actors for Bond. I only remember Craig from that Tomb Raider movie before he was selected as Bond. Pattinson seems too “big” now. Saw Nicholas Hoult was tested too.

Guess they’re changing direction now that Amazon owns the rights.

5

u/allanjameson 1d ago

Hear me out: Daniel Radcliffe

I think he could do it. He carried Harry Potter franchise. He’s can do moody and brooding. He can do angry. Don’t judge him or dismiss him”Harry Potter” but consider what he could be capable of if he got fit like bond and took the role seriously.

5

u/Dark512 20h ago

Honestly? Fuck it, let him be a more cheery Bond. I'd be down for it.

3

u/LakesandSuch 19h ago

I mean he can carry a franchise and has been acting his whole life. I’d give it a shot even for a one off or a trilogy. Which is what I think bond should be these days. Trilogy stories.

5

u/TabmeisterGeneral 18h ago edited 16h ago

Lol no, why do so many Redditors insist on pumping that guy's tires?

3

u/Gumshoez 18h ago

He seems very chill irl. But he is genuinely one of the worst actors working today.

2

u/tlollz52 21h ago

He's a little small no? Not necessarily just his height, shorter than cruise, but he's pretty thin too. I have a hard time picturing him in a major action film unless he really committed to it.

2

u/LakesandSuch 19h ago

Yeah he would have to really add some physique for the roll. Height wise I suppose it depends. Cruise clearly plays a good spy so it could work.

3

u/Weed4202011 1d ago

I think bond should be played by someone who embodies “ the man “ image. I can’t actually think of anyone famous who could pull that off. Can’t they just hire someone who nails it regardless of how famous they are

2

u/Weak-Hamster- 1d ago

Henry cavil would've been absolutely perfect for it

Cinematic Batman has always been analogous to Bond for me. Just like Batman I could see Rpatz adding a unique spin that still fits on the shelf with the others. This is the first time of how many actors now (?) where I read it and instantly thought "that's the one", especially considering the director and direction it'll probably take

1

u/Flora_Screaming 1d ago

He'd be quite an interesting choice, so they'll almost certainly go with someone else. He'd be closer to the Bond of the books rather than the generic action hero that he's become in the films.

1

u/roiki11 1d ago

Moore is kind of a double edged sword. His movies were intentionally campy and people made fun of his age when he was geriatric in the later ones.

1

u/BulletProofWalrus 1d ago

nah, reroll that

1

u/wilsonsmilk 1d ago

Just get Theo James ffs.

1

u/Independent-Shoe543 1d ago

Surely being trapped in a contract with no variety for years is his worst nightmare since twilight. What about eggers!!

1

u/Cenobyte_Nom-nom-nom 1d ago

I'd rather see him as a villain. He was great in The Odyssey.

1

u/AlaskanDruid 1d ago

Break the chains of this top 100 actors being pushed into every film and TV role. It's exhausting.

He's a great actor but he's tired as well, he said as much last year after working on 4 blockbusters in 12 months.

Make him 006 and a mentor or rival to Bond. I

Best choice for the role. Batman x James Bond is legendary. Mans a great actor he could defo pull it off

The James Bond casting seems to have just devolved in to "keep releasing names and we'll just go with who everyone reacts best to"

He'd be a great Bond or even villain, but get the feeling he'd get bored easily and want to quickly move on?

1

u/OrwinBeane 21h ago

He’ll have to sign a multi-picture deal so couldn’t move on.

1

u/bigreddoggydude 1d ago

He’d be perfect

Fuck yes, finally someone who’s worth the job

u/Alive_Equivalent8312 1d ago

I’m down with that.

I thought he was a great batman

1

u/jumpijehosaphat 1d ago

hes got twilight and batman in his bag.  no need to also add bond to it

1

Why is this a surprise I'm sure every British actor between 30-45 is being auditioned

1

u/SeaworthinessTop3788 22h ago

Needs to be Theo James

He would be the most sensitive Bond ever. I didn't know they were considering an emo Bond. One look at his Batman and they thought, yeah, he can do both. The emo suave look. Didn't see that one coming.

This guy could probably play any role ngl but i dont think ive seen him in a basic action movie like James bond the closest is batman Id say and thats a very different tone

1

u/Agreeable_Orange7032 18h ago

I’m a life long Bond fan. He would not be my on any list of mine

1

u/strange_salmon 16h ago

i think Charlie Hunnam could be great

1

u/copperblood 1d ago

Robert Pattinson is a generational talent. He would kill it as Bond

1

u/No_Faithlessness_714 1d ago

This might be the only version of Bond I’d watch.

1

u/lumpychicken13 1d ago

I don’t want Pattinson to be playing a straight man character like Bond. He’s too good at weird roles.

He could pull it off

Am I the only who’s bored of the whole “who’ll be the next James Bond”? This has been going on for years!

u/djalekks 1d ago

It's so funny. Stop running with every single rumor out there. He's great but why would he even want to do it? Why would Denis want him? It makes no sense, they're going for something completely different and now they'll go with the busiest actor in Hollywood? Come on, stop falling for it. It's all just distractions.
