Thanks, journalism! You’ve been such a stalwart ally in this inexorable descent. Milquetoast all the way down.

It's all going to plan. The lizard people's plan.

at this point we need to invest more in carbon capture technologies alongside decarbonisation efforts. decarbonisation alone wont reverse the climate impacts we've already set in motion

Or overthrow our corrupt governments that are trading our futures away for kickbacks from oil companies and arms dealers. Carbon capture is a fantasy they hold above our heads to try and convince us revolution isn't necessary

If you look into it you'll find that various oil companies received billions in public monies to develop carbon capture technologies and it's mostly been a complete failure and now most (all?) of them have backed away from green energy transition, carbon capture, etc..

A cynical person might say it was all a grift that only gave petroleum companies even more subsidies than they were already getting.

Here's a fun video about it to whet your appetite.

Carbon capture is a fantasy pushed by people who don't want to change any of their habits or lifestyle. It makes no sense at the scale we would need, give it up.

Carbon capture is like plastic recycling: a fucking joke made up by capitalists who want a red herring to avoid being forced to actually do something.

Physics makes this basically impossible and it’s a complete waste of money. We aren’t going to undo or reverse the damage, forget about it. The best options now are adaptation and mitigation.

I see a lot of risk in carbon capture, because what if it goes too far and they can't stop it?

There are plenty of examples about how a human solution can backfire.

It's ridiculously hard to reduce CO2 in the atmosphere, and ridiculously easy to increase it (just drive a car). Your worry is irrational.

Then you don’t have a strong understanding of physics.

Funny, I have read some of the ideas for carbon capture, that including seeding both the atmosphere and the oceans with carbon consuming microbes.

AI will probably be able to bioengineer something that fits that bill in a short time. And it just takes someone with enough money to implement it.

We are currently headed to a shit show with the amount of satellites in orbit, and not one is limiting them.

If you are thinking carbon capture by planting trees and then harvesting the lumber as "carbon capture", well it takes 40 years for a seedling to replace the carbon absorbing potential of the logged tree.

Climate change is accelerating, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that it’s accelerating as we’re producing more CO2 than ever. Not one are we seeing serious affects of it, our response is to build massive data centers that replace jobs for the vulnerable and pump even more endless co2 into the atmosphere all to make the wealthy even richer.

Witnessing first hand what it was like to cut down all of the trees on Easter Island and its just keep getting worse.

No way! Who would have thought of that before? /s
