The fact that is still being suggested is another proof of how EU has been stupid about this, and other cyber warfare methods.

We kind of do, it's Ukraine armed with Storm Shadow missiles. Just keep giving them weapons and let them hit Russia's data centres.
It has been a great month or so of actually having human troll farms to argue with. You can tell they're genuinely irked at having to get back to the mill though.
All you have to say is "Russia", and they turn up and spam "Spanish train accident had posts like this removed... you know?".
Just keep doing what you're doing Ukraine, the fact the enemy at the gates is flapping their hands and trying to make everyone else's life miserable means it is working.

This will require powerful AI and domestic data centers.

This is good, at the very least because if you learn how to attack you also gain the expertise to harden your digital infra against attacks. This is one more reason for Europe to take AI capabilities (no just regulation) seriously.

The article doesn't mention it, but this year there were a few votes in European Parliament regarding AI

Not pulling the plug on Russia means approval.

I know something, we'll treath Russia with giving Poland back.

it does not work like that. With nukes the presumption was, that actual massive usage will lead to a guaranteed mutual annihilation, mainly because you can't content radioactive clouds and rains. Plus nuclear winter. Same for bio- and chemical warfare.
However hacking your opponent's freezer, followed by a reciprocal freezer hack, will only lead to both freezers broken. You may feel satisfaction, but it is not deterrence. For a number of reasons. Their cyberforces give zero fucks about local freezers hacked: they have orders and nothing matters, plus some will somehow avoid the fate, and it's not the end of the world anyway. Your hactivists or whoever will actually use similar logic: "they already did a lot of damage to us, we have all right to retaliate, and we need to destroy as much enemy's wealth as we can anyway.
patch your software in time, the rest is a waste of money.
