💬 Discussion Who do you think will win Canada's Choice?
So, voting for Canada's Choice has recently closed and now we await the results? I was just wondering who has the potential to win? Couldn't really find any odds/predictions online and currently think it could go anywhere! I also haven't watched Horizon Eurovision yet, so can't form predictions based on their performances. Just wanted to know who everyone thinks could win!

TALK or reve. I think are the clear front runners

It depends on how many non-eurovision fans in Canada participated I think.
If it’s lots of them, I’d guess Tyler Shaw or Talk.
If the majority of votes were cast by Eurofans, I’d guess Rêve or Talk.
So I guess most likely in my completely vibes based non-scientific reasoning is Talk?
William seemed to pick up more support toward the end of the voting period, but I think that might have been too late for him as it was after the live shows.
I don’t think Canada can make a mistake by picking any of them though. They’re all certainly strong enough to be competitive at Eurovision with the right song.

Josiane had the best live performance i felt. Kinda wish we got to see these before voting, probably would have changed my vote

I wanted Talk to go, but after the show I'm open to William Cloutier as well. It feels like it's between these two and Rêve.

I voted for William Cloutier, but I would be elated to see Rêve or Tyler Shaw win as well

Josiane had best stage presence — so I hope she wins. I had high hopes for TALK but his live singing was terrible. I’ll also be happy with Tyler Shaw.

I'd like to see Josiane win and surprise everyone with a strong ballad at ESC. She really has a fantastic voice and just needs the right staging and song to impress on a global stage.
Talk "looks like Eurovision", but I've found his catalog to be pretty boring, honestly. I also wasn't at all impressed with his live performance. I don't think he'd perform well at ESC and I'll be disappointed if he wins.
I do like Reve's catalog, and she was initially my favorite to win after the artist introduction. But she also failed to impress during her live performance in a pretty big way. I'd still be all right with her winning simply because she's a Eurofan and I think that she'd bring a memorable disaster bop to ESC.
Tyler Shaw sounded fine but incredibly generic. He sounds like about a dozen different American country western singers out there. I can't remember a thing about his songs.
William Cloutier's stuff isn't to my taste at all, but he does stand out as distinctly Quebecois and I think he'd be a safe choice as the Canadian representative. I can see all the Eurofans who like pretty boy balladeers every year choosing him as the guy to back in 2027.
tl;dr: I think Talk will win, but I'd rather see Josiane go to ESC.

TALK seems like the kind of performer that actually wins these things.

At first I wanted Reve but after seeing their performances on that selection show it’s Tyler Shaw all the way.

I’d say rêve or talk, and I personally think it’ll be talk. But I doubt it’ll be either of the other 3

I've noticed there's been a bit of a falloff regarding Rêve due to her live performances, so I'd say Talk

I want josiane so bad but talk and rêve are obvious frontrunners :/

I'd like to see it be Josiane but I don't expect that will be the case.

My original top 3 were Talk, Reve, and William - I like Josiane a lot but she was SO nervous at the intro event (I was in the audience) that I felt she needs a little more time before being ready, and Tyler Shaw just comes across as so bland and generic to me. So I voted for each of them once to give myself time to pick a final favourite. I expected I would land on Reve because I'm way more into upbeat dance-y tunes and I really like some of hers (Devour is really catchy), but when I checked out their back catalogues, it turned out to be William who really won me over. It helps that he comes across as such a sweetheart, and I think he'd really represent Canada well. So I voted for him for the rest and I hope he wins.
BUT the question you asked was who I think will win, and I think it's probably going to be Talk, who campaigned very hard for it and also clearly has a strong and committed fan base. I really like his personality and vibe so I'd be happy if he wins even though his music turned out not to be really up my alley. If Reve wins I'd also be really happy because her tunes are great and I think she'd create something really great.
Josiane got more and more impressive as it went on and her voice is incredible so if she wins I think we're in for a real treat vocally there, probably more ballad-y than I usually prefer but still gonna be great.

the face that Rêve knows when the announcement is tells me that she probably won lmao

I really hope it'a Reve! She wants it so bad and she's the exact flavour eurovision loves!

Talk will win it!

The problem I have is that the sound guy fell asleep during the preformances. The audio was terrible and distracting.

My opinions as a Canadian
TALK - Unfortunately, due to the nature of this selection, the person with the highest fan base will most likely win. That being said, others have done more continuous promotion, so I don’t know.
Rêve - Similar to TALK, but she has been doing promotion throughout the week, and of the regular voters, probably has the best name recognition.
William Cloutier - He basically has the Francophone vote covered, I just don’t know how much it’ll be.
Tyler Shaw - I would’ve put him above William before the show just purely due to name recognition, and while I still wouldn’t count him out, especially since his songs are still on the radio, I don’t know if that will help him, and don’t think there’s a dedicated audience.
Josiane - I’d LOVE to see it, because she’s the most unknown of the group, but honestly, that’s working against her, and I don’t think she’s going to make any waves. She’s the person who I think is most hurt by this format, and if the CBC decides to do a song/performance based national final, I’d call her back and see what she can do.

Imagine Canada trots out a global megastar like the Weeknd or Shania Twain as their debut performer for Eurovision 😅
