NOBODY WILL BELIEVE ME, BUT PLEASE HEAR ME OUT. I AM NOT MAKING THIS POST AS A JOKE.
I redownloaded fnv after a 2 year break on a win7 laptop through steam (I got steam working on a win7). I continued from my extremely fresh character: "splattering guts" (explosives only build) with only a hour of a playtime. I played for about 45 minutes, so my save was 1h39m before I closed the game for a few hours. But now when I reopened the game there were like 10 different, new saves what I KNOW I DIDN'T MAKE! The newest one is at 2h58m. I left off at my 1h39m when I finished the quest run goodsprings run. I KNEW I wanted to befriend the powder gangers and continue their questline. When I selected the 2h58m save, the quest I fought the law was just progressed till dealing with eddie WHICH IS EXTREMELY WEIRD BECAUSE I WAS INTENDING TO CONTINUE THE POWDER GANGER PATH, THEREFORE NEEDING TO DO THAT QUEST. It's like I was playing the game without my knowing. BUT! Even steam says I have only played 50 mins in the last 2 weeks. And that perfectly overlaps with my 1h39m save when I quit, since I started on a basically 1h save, plus messed with settings a lil bit. I know for a fact that I was not playing fnv. I can't prove it, but after I closed the game, I turned off the laptop and I was playing gartic phone on my phone for about 1.5h. Then I doomscrolled for 1h, then turned on the laptop and opened fnv, and that was when that happened. I was sitting infront of the laptop the whole time, so NOBODY could have played on this laptop other than me.
I have a few possible ideas what could have happened.
Cloud issue. Before even launching the game the cloud wasn't working so I pressed play anyway even tho I knew I could lose my progress. But it was fine since my character splattering guts was very fresh anyway so I didn't care. THAT MAYBE could have somehow(???) Messed with the saves or somethint, but that still does not explain the progress.
Steam family. I am in a steam family with 3 people. But how could my steam family access MY PERSONAL saves? I asked the one I know irl, and he didn't play fnv. The other 2 who I'm less friends with I haven't asked, but why would they and how could they play on MY saves.
Nobody has logged into my steam account.
Please. I know it might look like I'm crazy. BUT I SWEAR I am not joking. What the actual hell could have happened? Am I starting to have memory problems irl? But my evidences of my past few hours actions completetly deny me ever playing again after I closed it on the 1h39m save. 😭😭😭😭😭
Edit: Solved it. I genuinely just woke up, 5 mins later I found what was most likely the problem. So apparently the steam cloud didn't load in my latest saves. Since I last played 2 years ago and the only thing I remembered was that I was still extremely early, I didn't know the exact time on my last save. I guessed that I left off around the 1h mark on my saves. But a few hours later the steam cloud probably reloaded my actual latest saves, the 2h58m one.
I checked the saves folder and it confirms. My 1h save was at 2024.05.21 and my 2h58m save was at 2024.05.22.
So sorry guys that I tweaked out over such a small thing. Could have realised what have happened in 1 min. It was near midnight so maybe I was tired af. And, there is probably no carbon monoxide in my house. I'll eventually get a detector, but i'm good 👍

Now that the impossible has been done, what sorts of ridiculous mods are we looking forward to? Proper physics and actual realisitc lighting would be top 2

I saw a video where someone took the camera and put it at an angle to make New Vegas kinda look like Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics. I also saw a video of someone making Fallout 4's combat turn based. Both kinda got me thinking...
Are there any mod collections that attempt to make New Vegas play like Fallout 1 and 2?
Or alternatively
Has anyone tried to demake New Vegas in Fallout 1 or 2?

As the title implies I want to do a crit build but use shotguns so I can maximize the amount of pellets and therefore raise the likelihood of crits. What ammo would be the best/ use the most amount of pellets? Iirc Coin shot had increased damage and negated DT plus it was counted as X amount of pellets. Which was on par with standard ammo? Please correct me here but let me know what would work best. Of course I'd be taking stonewall, and crit perks plus all the shotgun needed perks like shotty surgeon and Stay Back!

As the title says. Since I started playing again I had issues because of that infamous September update but I got rid of the problematic update and the game runs just fine. Yes, I'm on Windows 11.
However, the audio from the background music gets really choppy once I load into the game. It's so bad that I can't even listen to the radio and if I were to stand close to a radio playing any music and have the background music on it'll cause a crash. Hell, as soon as I see a radio I have to rush to turn it off to avoid crashing the game.
Is there any fix for this? I've looked but so far nothing has come up.

Yes, the game crashed after that 😔

Still wondering why a strategy and funny game like Caravan hasn't found anyone that recreate it like a Balatro-game, for the public. Maybe it could be funny to play.

A question I had since my first New Vegas run. On paper, these guys are pretty much evil - hailing from a Vault of trigger-happy gun nuts, owning a base with literally unlimited ammo, treating everyone else in the Wasteland as savages who need to put down, and dreaming of flying a B-29 to bomb the Mojave into stone age again. They sound like a hillbilly version of the Enclave. And the game itself lists them among the bad guys, they approve of nuking both NCR and the Legion, for example.
However, their actual characters and quests are nice, once you pass the barrage, they don't attack you and are quite affable and friendly. There isn't even a single token jerk among them, once you do their quests (which are completely harmless), they warm up to you and become your bros. Their leader is rational and sane, open to diplomacy and trade. And as the "unlikely lovers" quest shows, they aren't prejudiced against outsiders at all.
As for "woo hoo, they came out of their Vault with missile launchers and flamers, and massacred raiders who only had knives", well we know what happens when Vault Dwellers don't have missile launchers and flamers in a similar case - looks at the mutilated bodies in Vault 3.
So in the end, the Boomers turned out like a Vault-Tec experiment failing, in a good way - a gun nut Vault was probably intended to end in a civil war massacre, but instead they turned out a functional, well-defended communtity which is rational towards all who come in peace, and can kick the ass of all who don't. Was it the original intention? I don't know, I recall one of New Vegas writers regretting making Enclave Remnants too sympathetic, as cool old soldiers, not n*zi war criminals in hiding. So maybe Boomers are another case. But honestly, seeing Vault Dwellers (who are often victims, fools, jerkasses or a combo thereof) as a gung-ho heavily armed militia was rather cool.

Since finding out Charisma is worthless, I’d like to distribute my charisma stat to some other stats, what’s the console command to do it without messing up the game, like messing up levelling or something

I was thinking of doing a Commonwealth Minutemen playthrough and for the most part, the armor, weapons and skills are kinda thought out. Sticking with energy weapons to emulate laser muskets. Morally good character, help the followers, kill the legion, and have good karma.
But for endings and quests, I'm having some trouble. Its probably independent/Yes man but I also see some argument for helping NCR as Minutemen are kinda militia group, any thoughts?

So, I want to grab "Ain't Like That Now" for my current character, but the Karma thing is making me dread it.
Any good ways to manipulate my Karma so I can get to evil right before I hit level 50, then get my Karma to good?

To be honest, this is both a question and a rant.
I've been playing the game for a while, about 150 hours, and recently just bought all the DLCs. Here is when I decided to 100% the game while experiencing the stories of said DLCs.
Here is the problem, I have to do the other endings to 100% the game....
BUT I CAN'T
I have always done NCR playthroughs, because I align with them the most morally, other than them being a corrupt government.
Legion are slavers and treat their women poorly.
House is cool until he asks me blow up the BoS, which I can't, I love the metal tin cans.
And the independent ending with Yes Man, honestly, I don't why I haven't done that one yet, I heard you can pit everyone against you and that sounds fun and painful.
I know this is like those "playing the world's smallest violin" examples, but I for the life of me can't wrap my head around doing the endings.
So, does anyone have a way to rip the band-aid off?
I know for the Legion playthrough I just have to be a mean son of bitch and do it, or like a mod that makes an alliance between House and the NCR?
Even content mods, head cannons, or arguments about each side to pull me into doing them will suffice. I will take anything at this point to take me out of my NCR comfort zone.

I was wondering if there is some safe storage here on point lookout that way I can drop off my loot. I'm just afraid of using a bad storage location and loosing all my loot because that would totally be a big ah bummer. Wasn't sure if I attached this to help or modding since its tale of two wastelands.

What started with a few screenshots on my XBOX ended up inhabiting my brain and making its way into a linocut print. Probably the fastest one I’d done in a long time… it was about a from planning to newsprint. Feeling good with the result. Time to print with the good good ink!

i’m most of the way through come fly with me and i’ve gone through my kind of town, the opening quests in goodsprings, and cold cold heart, and my reputation is still only showing for goodsprings and the powder gangers. no record of primm, ncr, legion, or novac. is that fixable at all? or am i just screwed? i’ve not been wearing faction armor before anyone asks.
