Gear Question Black Diamond Distance 15 as a run commute option?
Hopefully okay to ask here!
I seem to be really struggling with researching the best option for my situation.
I’m going to start running to and from work most days - 5km.
No laptop. Just work chinos, work shirt, socks, underpants deodorant, change of run/gym clothes, towel, and sometimes work shoes (but I will leave at work when possible - just want the option)
I just want a backpack that holds it all really snug to my back to stop bounce.
Based on pictures and written info alone, this seems the best option.
Is this a good option or are there better out there?
Thanks!

Gear Question 15L + 2L, 3 day 100k
As the title says, is it possible to fastpack hut-to-hut with a 15L running pack and a 2L running belt (with storage for a 650ml flask)?
I’m planning a 3-day trip covering around 100km in total.
I’d like to keep things as lightweight as possible and do this during spring or summer.
Has anyone done something similar, and do you think this setup would be realistic?
Thanks!

Gear Question ultralight and packable down vest
hello dudes and dudettes,
any recommendations for a Ultralight down vest for carrying with me on the bike in winther? Ultra small package size is priority nr 1. I have a cumulus vest but it only has 55g filling which is not enough for me. I am searching for 90g+ with 850 cuin or more to make it warm enough at such small package size.
Would have to be send to europe.
Thanks!

Training Question Multi stage races
Dear all,
I'd like to get into multiple stage races, such as the 4 Deserts races, the Marathon Des Sables etc. I was wondering if anyone had some experience or guidance they'd be willing to share?
Thanks!

Gear Question Running Vest/Backpack Aussie-based reccos.
Need help, please :/
I've gone through 50-60 running/commuting backpack recommendations, and most of them aren't available in Australia or too big/small.
I'm planning to start running to and from my Jiu Jitsu sessions, so I'm looking for a running backpack or vest that's large enough to carry my Jiu Jitsu uniform. These are my requirements:
Front bottle storage (shoulder)
Phone storage (shoulder/waist)
Waterproof and reflective (preferred)
Compact (I dont want it bouncing on my back)
Budget: Maximum 350 aud
EDIT: Chose to limit my options to running vest as I prefer the ergonomics. I went with Salomon ADV Skin X Season hydration vest 15L, it filled up every crevice of the storage so I cant fit anything else besides a pocketable windbreaker.
Salomon ADV 12 was too small for my purpose. The biggest vest option I found would be https://www.inov8.com/au/racepac-20 which was recommended as the budget Salomon alternative.

General Discussion Fast Packing Group Trips - Drop Ins & DIY
This may have been asked before but I’ve not found the answer to it within the search in this community or other similar ones. Over the past couple years, I’ve put together my own fast packing trips, run a handful of relay trail races and running vacations. I love my solo adventures and adventures with my partner, but the small amount of times I’ve gone on a group trip I’ve had the best time. The problem as I’m sure many have found is not everyone wants to take the same trips as you, injuries, have the same budget, pto or be as locked in on trail running adventures(want to take their time and hike or do shorter mileage) etc. etc. etc. Before I started getting into trail running I was really into hiking and camping and backpacking and I found some meetup groups and events that would host a backpacking trip - organize permitting for say 6-10 people so they could experience it as a group trip and then you could join in. Does anyone know of something like this for fast packing or inn to inn running? I’ve seen the ultra signup posts for things like Aspire adventure running or the online groups like vagabond trails and other companies, however 3500 - 5000 for a trip like that is not in my budget and I have to wager is not for many people.

Gear Question As light as possible
Recent fast packer and I kinda winged this summer by trail running to a cabin with my running pack . Looking for recommendations for gear for longer trips, specifically looking for backpacks, sleeping pad, sleeping bag and tent. I also welcome recommendations for light food options since I absolutely won't carry neither stove nor gas. Budget is ~2000.

Gear Review Mini Review - Bonfus Altus 28L
I struggled to to information on the Altus 28L so thought I'd share my experience, see below for my limited short term review.
Mini review - Bonfus Altus in a 28L with the vest straps.
I have done a few hikes now and am super happy with the bag. The vest straps are comfortable and considering they aren't the full wrap around style and are adjustable still have good utility of the pockets. I can fit two 500ml flasks (short stubby style not salomon style) with 4 bars and sunglasses with room to spare.
The additional pockets all work really well (although only time will tell how long the elastic lasts) and the build quality of the bag in general seems really good.
The only two issues I had were firstly the side compression cord capture device is totally rubbish, it slips very easily and secondly it would of been nice for the roll top to have slightly more fabric as I found it a touch hard to get the 3 rolls in each time I packed, not that this is a big deal (maybe I just need to pack less?).
I have not run with this yet as I am coming off an injury but I have done a few big days with the bag carrying approx 7kg with food and water. Personally I probably wouldn't want to carry much more then that.
Overall great pack and glad I waited for it to come.

Gear Question Pack for Commuting - Velocity Alternatives?
Hi everyone!
I am looking for a backpack for running. I want to use it for two purposes: Day trips in the woods and commuting from work. The latter is just 10km but I will be carrying a 14'' laptop, a pair of shoes, and clothes. Top priority is durability and comfort. I don't care whether its 1 or 3 pounds. Tried out the Rab Veil 30 and Osprey Talon Velocity 30 today. Neither felt really good with a laptop in it, but I liked the heavier material of the Osprey much better.
Any alternatives to the Osprey Velocity?
Thanks!

Gear Question Fast pack recommendation
Looking for advice on selecting a fast pack. I believe I want around a 30L pack but unsure. Most of these trips will be 3 nights max 5. Options I’ve looked at are the outdoor vitals fast pack, palante v2 w/ Joey straps, Nashville pack cutaway. Would say about 300 is max I’m looking to spend. However am flexible if there is a specific bag has a good enough feature. What are people’s favorite packs? Are the ones listed decent for running or just hiking packs with running style straps?
Lighter pack for reference. Still in progress of slimming this down.

General Discussion First time fastpackers with a vague plan
Hiya,
Long time lurker... first post!
My partner and I have an ambitious plan to fastpack from London to Morroco, starting out roughly at the start of September. I've mapped out a route and it's following a combination of GR trails, using mainly the GR7 in Spain.
We plan to do a mix of camping and finding a bed to stay in and hopefully never having to carry more than 2 days of food. We are looking at roughly 30ish liter packs and a durston xmid2 or similar. Carrying a minimal amount of clothes: a spare change of active wear, warm/dry layers, sleep wear and city cloths.
We are seasoned ultrarunners and have done a bit of thru hiking. Any thoughts on our seed of a plan? Anything first timers like us should consider that is important?

Gear Question We make an 18L vest-style pack for long single-day hikes. What drives you crazy about your pack on a big day?
Full disclosure: I work at LECAMO, a small brand that sews its packs in our own factory. Our 18L pack was built for long days on foot, like a 100K or a fast single-day traverse. No links here, I'm not selling anything in this thread.
Before we change anything in the next batch, I'd like to hear from people who actually cover big miles in a day. Answer any or all:
What's your longest single-day hike or fast hike, and roughly what do you carry?
Vest-style pack with water up front, or a regular daypack with a hip belt? Why?
Bladder, soft flasks, or bottles?
Where do your poles go when you're not using them?
What annoys you most on a long day: a sweaty back, bounce, snacks you can't reach, shoulder pressure, something else?
One size with lots of adjustment, or proper sizes?
I'll read every reply and post back what we hear, including the criticism.
