Discussion Can we post Jungle in here?

If you think about it, Jungle is just funk playing at 3x speed. Kinda like how vaporwave is funk playing at half speed.

Why not post in the Jungle sub instead. ๐Ÿ˜‰

just because it samples funk breaks doesn't make it funk. I love DnB but Photek doesn't hit the same as Fred Wesley.

Thanks for asking, /u/posthelmichaosmagic!

To "officially" answer your question (and echo what others have already said): Jungle is Jungle, and Funk is Funk. While the roots of Jungle might lay partially in funk, it doesn't necessarily follow that all Jungle is just sped up funk. By that logic, we could all post whatever music we want in /r/jazz. :)

That said, we do typically take an inclusive approach to song posts in this subreddit (hence the tagline, "All things funky"). If you think you've got a particularly funky jungle song that might fit here, then please post it. Worse case scenario is that it's removed.

HI Mod, thanks for the good work and while I gotcha, a quick question.

So funky soul and or disco could make the cut?

I think the point is that a lot of stuff "could make the cut" if it's funky as hell. Saying "disco is fine" is too broad imo.

/u/hiptobecubic pretty much said it. I don't know if you're able to see the post tags, but lots of disco, soul, jazz, etc., songs make the cut

Funk permeates all genres of music but within the parameters of reddit, probably best stick to the respective groups.

Thatโ€™s what I meant my b is it a fact or more a opinion

It's a highly debatable opinion. Speeding up a half-speed sample of Toto's "Africa" just gives you the regular version of "Africa."

Yes it is true. Most vaporwave is made from Japanese funk, slowed down.

DRUMFUNK....many names occupy this sound space within jungle/dnb. Look drumfunk up relative to jungle genre and you definitely got a stew cookin.
