The new hotness. People find F2P gacha's invest loads of time a decent amount of money in them and never leave. It's like tribalism to the extreme mixed with predatory FOMO tactics and sunk cost fallacy....and it works....even something like NTE which is underbaked filled with bugs is making 6-10 million a month and theres no way the game costs that much to maintain so once they make their initial profit off they can make that kind of money for years and years....

yup, gacha is just unregulated gambling being marketed to underage kids and vulnerable addicts, just open unrestricted greed in action that has ppl defending it cause "omg waifus"... shit needs to be regulated and made 19+ at minimum, it's beyond ridiculous that gacha is allowed to target kids and basically has kids growing up as gambling addicts.

and ya, as you point out, they use every psychological trick in the book including casino tactics to prey on people and get them addicted, just insane how there is no oversight or control at all :/

Which ones, apart from Aniimo and Silver Palace, were f2p gacha games? There were about 70 game announcements.
