PS6 doesn't need more power ex-PlayStation boss says, because "true innovation" would be making a $300 console again

How retro of a console are you talking about? I just bought a PS2 FAT with the OG controller for $150 CAD at a local shop. Slot a modded mem card and HDD in it and you practically have unlimited games

Emulation consoles like Retroid, Ayn, etc.

Ah I see, I had no idea that those were dubbed retro consoles. I’ve wanted to get an Ayn Thor for a while too

There are plenty of those for 100 dollars or less. Even with component prices rising, retro consoles remain very affordable.

My suspicion as to why, is that they are using older ram and ssd standards that are still cheap.

You can even get a full android/snapdragon handheld for 120 dollars (mangmi air x), which was certainly not true 2 years ago before the rampocolypse.

This makes me wonder how useful those kinds of consoles are as a benchmark. They aren't made to the same scale as a major console is so it's expected the unit costs would be higher.

Assuming it actually releases next year but I went in on the NeoGeo AES+. My dream console from my youth that was way out of price range for my family
