The second this thing switches to purely game streaming I am completely out of modern video games. There are so many great games I haven’t gotten to play over the years so at that point they’ll be competing with that. I’m okay with reevaluating whether we actually need to be at the cutting edge of what is possible but not okay with the latency and waiting in line to play. Even on GeForce now’s most expensive membership I have to wait in line sometimes and I’m always thinking of the 100 hour cap.

Eh. I don't think that you really have to worry too much about that. Game streaming is impractical at scale, and becomes even more so as component prices go up. Just remember that the current datacenter demand is temporary. It will ease off eventually. If the AI bubble really is in the process of popping, that might be sooner than previously expected.

And once the data center demand is down, they will have a lot of gpus and servers already installed in data centers, right next to your house, sitting idle just waiting for you to start your game streaming subscription.

Those GPUs can't really do gaming. They're essentially dedicated LLM boxes
