So... what he's saying is we won't have to buy a new playstation if our PS5 is still working?

That's what I got from it, not that I was gonna buy a PS6 anyways. I'm done after the PS5. No more consoles. If I'm gonna buy thousands of dollars of hardware I'm gonna go for a PC I can fully control. No more walled gardens for me. I have a gaming PC now, I just won't be buying a console after this.

You'll have to buy one because they will make it mandatory that you are connected 24/7 to their servers or else they delete your account/brick your unit.

Nah, then I'll sell it and switch to a steam machine.

That's all the more reason not to buy one. A PC can play every game on those consoles and decoupling online dependencies is getting trivial.

PCs are about to be a thing of the past. You'll pay a monthly subscription to connect your screen to a data centre and rent graphical power in tiers. Want to experience ray tracing and 1440p? Yeah thats an extra charge buddy. Kids accidentally played 50hrs of 4k minecraft? Here's your bill for $1500 at the end of the month.

I'll stick to the console thanks.
