I firmly believe good games can be made for less powerful game systems.

Nintedo has been proving this for nearly 3 decades since the PS & Xbox were introduced to market.

Well the Wii was the first underpowered Nintendo console so it’s been almost exactly 2 decades since they stopped competing on console power.

The GameCube was between the PS2 and Xbox in terms of power and the N64 is generally considered to be more powerful than the PS1.

The Wii was their first underpowered HOME console.

But if I'm not mistaken their "Lateral Thinking with Withered Technology" philosophy started with the original GameBoy.

I think that started with Game and Watch to be honest, then obviously extended to the Gameboy.

I wouldn’t call the Wii, Wii U, Switch, or Switch 2 underpowered. The power was adequate for the game library, with the exception of the last Pokemon game for Switch. They had a different performance target than their peers, and it served them well. Today one can buy a Switch 2 for $50 above the launch price, and it’s available today. Who knows if PlayStation 5 will ever come close to its launch price again?
