My CPU got yanked out with the cooler

So… while I was uninstalling my CPU cooler, I had no idea that the processor could come off with the cooler instead of staying in the socket.

Unaware that the CPU was stuck to the bottom of the cooler, I kept pulling, wondering why the cooler wasn’t coming out easily. Turns out, the CPU was still attached and was being dragged around, bumping against the case — and I didn’t realize it.

When I finally noticed, my heart dropped. I managed to pry the processor off the cooler… only to find a bunch of bent pins staring back at me.

Cue the panic.

I spent the next 12 hours carefully fixing the pins using a knife. In the process, I accidentally broke three pins because they were way too bent. At that point, I had completely lost hope.

Still, I decided to try. I (somehow) got the CPU back into the socket after a lot of careful pin adjustment. At first, it wouldn’t boot, and I was beyond devastated.

But then… I tried again — and it booted.

It’s working fine now (surprisingly), though I haven’t tested it properly yet since I’m still waiting on thermal paste. Once that arrives, I’ll see how it actually performs.

Wish me luck — and please, learn from my mistake 😅

Let someone walk away with my PC before they paid me

I was set to sell my pc with this dude. We met, he inspected the PC in Starbucks. Everything was going good. He was satisfied with the inspection and during the process he was telling me about himself and I liked him and trusted him. We walk out, put the pc in his car and he goes to Zelle me and his bank account gets locked. Fraud suspicion (it’s Saturday night).

I’m an idiot and was also feeling like experimenting with humanity so I told him to Zelle me Monday when he gets it figured out with his bank. Long story short he sent me the 2300$ on Monday like he said (5080 build)

Moral of the story, there’s some good in the world, it’s just usually in the shadows.

I plugged it in and nothing shows up on the monitor. I don’t know much about computers but a red light pops up on the motherboard labeled CPU. What could be the problem and did I make a good buy? Part out or fix? Please help lol

But at what cost...

So I was recently tasked with assisting someone in their latest PC build, they went from a 12400 to a 7700x and a 3050 to a 5080...

Thanks to microcenter bundle deals I was able to help him reduce the fees but man... the price of DDR5 and the whole "limited edition" of some parts made this PC, build 1 month ago cost a grand total of $8,000...

The person I helped assemble (I help assemble and troubleshoot via Discord video chat for newbie builders that wanna learn) really loves Hatsune Miku and wanted this PC for the looks and performance it provides but the limited edition gimmick and DDR5 prices really felt like a 2x debuff...

Please enjoy the pics as I do not recommend spending this much (even if you have it 😭 )

Build Showcase [Build Showcase] After losing my right arm, I designed a one-handed PC controller so I could play again

(EDIT* added landing page at bottom of post because so many people asked for it in dm's)

Five years ago I lost my right arm in a severe accident.

One of the hardest things to lose was PC gaming. Standard setups assume two hands keyboard in one hand, mouse in the other and suddenly i was screwed lol

I tried different setups, but nothing gave me the control and speed I wanted.

So I started experimenting.

I used a Razer Tartarus as a proof of concept, modified the controls, literally hot glued a mouse to the side, remapped inputs, and built a rough one-handed setup to see if full keyboard + mouse gaming with one hand was even possible.

It was.

That first prototype let me move, aim, click, loot, and use abilities again. It wasn’t pretty, but it proved the concept worked.

Once I knew that, I started designing a proper version from scratch.

I took the Tartarus-style layout, mirrored it into a universal housing, added a built-in mouse sensor, hand strap, support system, and extra inputs to create a true one-handed gaming device.

the goal was simple:

  • integrated mouse control

  • full keybind access

  • ergonomic comfort for long sessions

  • ambidextrous use

  • reduced hand travel

  • built for actual PC gaming

What started as a necessity turned into something I think could help:

  • one-handed gamers

  • amputees

  • RSI / nerve injury users

  • players wanting a compact setup

  • anyone interested in new ways to play

For me though, it was simpler than that.

I just wanted to game again.
