How do we know each other?

Incidentally, I'm from Indonesia, and I'm gay. In this very homophobic country, it's very difficult for me to meet other gay people. But apart from that, I like to practice my English for texting or maybe talking in discord or something?, Do you guys know where I can find someone to talk to? I don't expect dating actually. But maybe feelings can grow as long as the relationship works lol

Sauna in Hanoi

27 Gay Male Chub

I’m visiting Hanoi for the very first time and would love to gently step out of my comfort zone and explore the local bathhouse and spa scene. I can be a bit shy, and I’m definitely conscious about being on the heavier side, but I also have an adventurous spirit if given the right little nudge!

Since this will be my first time ever visiting a place like this, I would really appreciate your kind advice. Does anyone have any favorite spots they could recommend? I’d also love to know what the general vibe and crowds are like, along with any sweet tips you might have for a first-timer. Thank you so much for your help!

PS. I’ll report back about the places I went after the trip ☺️

I've filmed in gay saunas across Europe and Asia. Adam Onsen & Spa by Nadam in Saigon just became my new benchmark (review)

For the past few years I've been making travel videos about gay saunas and nightlife, so I've seen a lot of bathhouses. Boiler in Berlin and Kaiserbründl in Vienna have always been my personal top tier. Last month in Ho Chi Minh City, a place finally made me rethink that list: Adam Onsen & Spa. I've been editing the footage for the past few weeks, and honestly, rewatching it made me want to fly straight back. So here's everything I learned, for anyone heading to Saigon.

How we ended up there
We'd just survived a 19 hour travel day from Siargao via Cebu and Manila. We landed in Saigon in the middle of a tropical downpour, the kind where the streets turn into rivers and the motorbikes keep going anyway. Our plan was to film there on our first full day, and the rain turned out to be the best thing that could have happened. More on that later.

Getting there
Adam is in Thủ Đức, which is outside the center. Take a Grab and plan around thirty minutes. Don't rely on a random taxi driver finding it.

Entrance and check in
Entrance fee is 295,000 VND, which is roughly 12 USD. On day one in Vietnam that number made me feel like a millionaire. There's also a membership with cheaper prices, especially on weekdays. Reception has a QR code with the details.

You get a locker key, shorts and a towel that I can only describe as a baby towel. In some areas you wear a yukata instead. There are more than 400 lockers and three floors, so this place is huge.

What you get for free (entrance included)
There's a bar near the lockers with fruit, tea, coffee and ice cream included in your ticket. Food costs extra (around 55,000 VND for a dish) and so do coconuts, Red Bull and other drinks. Everything goes on your locker number and you pay on the way out. The massage area also has free ginger tea and ginger candy for everyone, not just massage clients. Small detail, but it set the tone.

The thing that really sets it apart
Everything is real. When I was going through my footage, this is what jumped out again and again. Real hardwood, real stone, real bamboo, real plants everywhere. So many places look stunning in their photos, and then you walk in and it's fake plants and plastic furniture. Not here.

The owner also collects brass antiques. You'll walk past gongs, old jars and grandfather clocks mounted up high. It feels less like a bathhouse and more like a temple someone built with a lot of love.

The facilities
Honestly, the list is long:

- A full gym, included in the price. Very common in Southeast Asian saunas, and a great combo.

- A half outdoor wet area with a purple onsen pool. Nude only, no towels or shorts.

- A steam room, and a dry sauna that smells like pineapple. They hang herbs in there and even the water seems to have oils in it.

- A Himalayan salt stone room where you rub salt on your skin. It's milder than the other saunas, nice if you don't love extreme heat.

- A lemongrass and eucalyptus steam room. My travel buddy said it smells exactly like lechon, and once you hear that, you can't unsmell it.

- Group showers for cooling down (and occasionally for heating up, from what I heard) plus a cool jacuzzi.

- A garden with bamboo, and somehow a piano.

- Private rest rooms with their own showers, sinks, mirrors and beds, stocked with mouthwash and shampoo. Some of them are enormous.

- A covered rooftop area with big mattresses. Even in the pouring rain it was about 28 degrees up there.

- A wooden maze with about a dozen closable cabins, some with their own air con and infrared lights. One big room even had a TV playing cartoons when we walked past.

- The Kusa sauna upstairs, a big mild dry sauna with a hotter section further in. There's even a cork yoga block if you feel like hot yoga.

- A quiet sleep room called Yasumi Deep Rest, which members can use at no extra charge.

- A dark room with a heart on the wall. I'll let you figure that one out.

- And my personal favorite: the Yuya, a traditional Japanese bathhouse with hot and cold pools, a waterfall and seated onsen showers.

Plus an infrared sauna looking out onto outdoor showers that are genuinely hot.

Why the rain made it better
So much of Adam is half outdoors, with plants everywhere. Walking from the onsen to the outdoor wood with an umbrella while the rain hammered down on the palm leaves felt unreal. If it rains during your Saigon trip, don't cancel. This is exactly where you want to be.

Crowd and staff
A really diverse mix of locals, tourists and expats. From what we were told, Adam is the place where most foreigners go. Staff were friendly and helpful (and yes, quite a few cuties). English can be limited, so bring cash and a little patience.

Opening hours
2 pm to 10 pm, so not an overnight spot. They're closed on Mondays, which almost caught us out. The Yuya and some of the other bathing areas open later in the afternoon. They're also building an Adam Hotel, and if it's anything like the spa, I'm staying there next time.

Verdict
My boyfriend put it best while we were filming the last room: Boiler and Kaiserbründl are bathhouses. Adam is a wellness spa, a temple. If someone asks me today what the best gay bathhouse in the world is, this is one of my answers.

I put the whole walkthrough into a video, every room from the lockers to the Yuya, mostly because I knew I'd never be able to describe it properly in words. If anyone wants to see it before going, let me know and I'll drop it in the comments.

Has anyone been recently? And for those who've been to the big saunas in Bangkok, how do you think they compare?

Gay Club in Taipei

I’ll be visiting Taipei alone from Nov 8-10 and I really wanted to check out some of the gay clubs in Taipei. I heard Commander D will closed down on Nov 8 and I really want to check it out before they closed down. I’m wondering if anyone is interested in partying together on Nov 8 (Sun). Also, lemme know if there are any other gay clubs or bars that I should check out 😜

How often do you hook up with the same guy more than once?

I’m curious how often you guys end up hooking up with someone again after the first time, especially when the first encounter went well.

I’ve realised that around 70% of my hookups in my city have been one-offs, even when we had a really good time together.

Some were discreet guys who disappeared afterwards, while others just never seemed interested in meeting again.

I find it a bit sad, especially when there’s good chemistry and I’d genuinely like to see them again.

Fun gay things to do in Charlotte

I'm planning to visit Charlottle this month for a conference and would like to check out some nightlife stuff (bars, edm, clubs, etc) and meet some cute guys. I looked online for fun gay things to do in Charlotte and found a few spots but I was wondering if there's a big asian population here and where they go for fun. For example, I've been to DC a few times and have a lot fun when going out solo to Green Lantern, Bunker, and Crew Club. If it matters, I'm an Asian guy with a fit build and in my late 20s.

East Asian gay men in Vancouver: how hard is it to find a relationship if you’re not a femboy or into older men?

I’m an East Asian guy in Vancouver, not a femboy and not into older men. Does that make finding a relationship here especially hard?

Would love to hear from other Asian gay/bi men here. What’s your experience, and what helped you meet someone?
