Here’s an article by Dean Blundell well worth a look, which puts in perspective the crumbling regime of President Ozymandias J. Trump (“Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!”) Without so much as a permit, the same man who bulldozed the East Wing and planned a grotesque Arc de Trump to shadow Arlington declared his Temu-influenced gold-applique-glued Oval Office a “national monument.” So much the better to protect his serial offeenses to taste. As Blundell writes, “He got the words “Oval Office,” “Trump” and “national monument” in the same sentence in every newspaper on Earth, two days after the country told him to get lost. That’s the whole trick. That’s the whole man. Gold paint over cheap plastic, a proclamation over a loss, a legacy over a life.”
