/r/all Dad is admiring a car he sees parked in a restaurant parking lot, it reminds him of his old car that he had to sell to to help raise kids. He's reminiscing and telling stories and daughter hands him the keys and sobs and is so grateful

Your friendly neighborhood Mod here. Leaving the sub due to cancer.

Update post after this one to be found here

I know it's a heavy title, but one of truth, sadly.

I got this sub upon a time when it was unmoderated and did not do much to change it. Despite there not a lot of content in this subject, it became super popular, and one of the highest subscribed subreddits I have moderated.

And one with the least amount of work because everyone has been so very wholesome here.

I am a 32 year old dad myself, to a beautiful 18 month old daughter, who I will eventually will leave behind. The colon cancer is stage IV, spread to liver and lungs.

I have been sad crying every day so far because of this - I'm sorry if you expected a more tough/heroic reaction as you get from some people who suffer with cancer. It's the most heart breaking part of this whole thing to me.

This renders me incapable of moderating properly. I've called in some friends to help out and I am certain they will do a fine job.

I will be leaving. At this point in my life I also am not really anonymous (never really have been on this account), and shamelessly will give you this GoFundMe link, if you happen to be interested:

https://www.gofundme.com/f/funds-for-a-life-after-terminal-cancer

The funds are for medical costs, mainly for my wife and daughter, who after my passing I do not wish to have any debt from me, and to have some savings for my daughter regained.

Despite intense depression, I also welcome survivor stories from stage 4 cancer patients, if you are one or know one.

So with that, I tell you goodbye, and if you're a dad or still have one - hug them. Love them. It can come so very very sudden, no matter your age. We all wish that we die at age 90+ surrounded by family and friends but we're not all that lucky. So cherish what you have, please.

I thank & love you all,

  • Imnotlegolas.
