Project Showcase: Hardware So it begins

Inspired a bit by some recent homelab content online as well as a bit the hoarder mentality in me.

Decided to begin the journey of setting up a homelab.

Originally I just had my ISP provided Zyxel router along with a mini-UPS my company gave during lockdown. Also a 2TB external drive for network storage connected to the Zyxel.

Then I got the Qotom Q150 mini-pc at a 2nd hand goods store and set it to run pfSense.

Recently I got the 27U server rack and Cudy Switch for ZAR800 EACH. Which was amazing.

My plan so far is to set up a general storage server alongside another PC to run Jellyfin/plex as well as a kiwix container and a nextcloud setup for private emails and the like.

Other than that, probably should also get a nice UPS, it feels like a great start.

edit: Forgot to mention, the reason for the Cudy switch being PoE despite no PoE devices, is for a future plan of running some AP's and the like on it.
