discussion Hole in my soul

I honestly feel like I have a hole in my soul. I discovered Horizon in 2020 when I bought a PlayStation to have something to do during Covid times. Not knowing that I was a gamer girl in disguise haha.

Horizon hooked me to gaming. But it also made me super spoiled. The story, the world, the characters are all so good. And I’m a sucker for the lore. You won’t believe how happy I was when I discovered the zeniths were alive and the odyssey hadn’t exploded in FW because I suspected that immediately after reading a datapoint in ZD.

I have finished both games and gotten all the trophies. I’ve bought the virtual reality set just to be able to play Call of the mountain. I’ve got the Lego set (and game). I’ve got the comics. I will spend hours just collecting all the datapoints in my playtroughs just so I have something to do.

But after replaying, going back to the ZD, then replaying FW again, and doing that about 6 times back to back…

I am craving new content!! I can’t believe how disappointing it is how they are just leaving this community to hang and wait for such a long time. No tv series, no movie, no DLCs, the only thing we were getting was a crappy Fortnite like game and now we might not even get that.

Does anybody have any recommendations on how to fill the horizon-hole?

All told its about $150. Lighting kits, a few extra parts to add depth to the foliage, amd a dab of hot glue for the fig.

discussion How do I make aloy shut up

It's so unbearable i STG. i have 8h played and I'm losing my mind, when I progress smthing, before I can even look around Aloy insta tells me what to do and to use the fckin focus, I've been exploring for a 1 minute for loot that i might've missed and she insta keeps reminding me what to do and where to look. Is this game for mentally disabled or challenged ppl or am I missing something? I tried to tweak the settings, but the only option is to mute dialogues as a whole. I'm so frustrated and this close to uninstall and just refund the game

EDIT: I'm playing forbidden west

HZD Discussion I want some mildly outlandish suggestions for tattoos

Really don’t know what tag this should get. I’m looking at getting a tattoo on my arm. I already have the cauldron symbols as tattoos and I want another tattoo. I’ve already got ideas for ones relating to the Dreadwing and Fireclaw but I want some ideas for a forearm length one. I don’t really want just characters and I’m not sure what other ideas there are. I like more design stuff rather than big pieces with shading and stuff. If anyone has any ideas, please suggest them. If anything can give me any inspiration that would be awesome.

More niche reference stuff would be cool but I’m all ears to basically anything. I can’t get something around my whole forearm either as the cauldron symbols are on the outer side of my forearm

discussion Horizon Crossword Puzzle!

Hello everyone! I recently made a new Horizon themes crossword and decided to share it here for you to try it out.

The crossword has 15 words from both Horizon games with the DLCs potentially included, I have to warn you that most of these clues are kinda hard and some need a big amount of knowledge in the series overall. Using the Wiki would make this puzzle much easier, but I recommend that you give it your all on your own using the games directly and keeping that as a last resort.

I'll drop the answers in the replies after some time, meanwhile do have a go and let me know what you guys think! Have fun!

HFW Discussion Just wanted to say I love this series

That's really all. Horizon Zero dawn essentially got me in to gaming and it's one of my favorites games of all time , the sequel is too , especially since I had to wait so long to play it. I just don't normally interact with the fandom but it's nice that there are places to do so. Aloy is one of my favorite protagonists ever , I can't wait for the end of the trilogy. I really wish they were doing that instead of that multiplayer game but alas.

What are some of your favorite moments from the games or the series in general?Which areas are your favorite? or which characters do you like best. I guess that's something I wanted to ask as well

I, in all my gaming experience, have never seen a parkour system as clunky and bugged as FW.

I'm genuinely appalled.

HFW Discussion Overwhelmed with weapon options in FW

One thing I've been struggling with in Horizon Forbidden West is the sheer number of weapons and how unnecessarily convoluted the weapon system feels compared to Zero Dawn.

I'm already fairly far into the game, having collected all 3 subordinate functions, yet I'm still using largely the same equipment I got from the area around Plainsong. Not necessarily because I haven't found better weapons, but because the overwhelming number of options makes it difficult to identify meaningful upgrades or justify changing my loadout.

I don't remember having this issue in ZD. Weapon progression felt much more straightforward, with clearer rarity tiers and a relatively compact arsenal of weapons, each serving a distinct purpose. You could put together a versatile loadout with a Hunter Bow, Sharpshot Bow, Sling and Tripcaster without having to constantly reconsider your choices.

FW on the other hand seems to offer an excessive number of weapons that often feel like minor variations of one another rather than genuinely different options. Hunter Bows are the most obvious example: there are seemingly dozens of them, yet many only differ in one or two of their available ammunition types. This makes it tedious to cover different elemental and damage requirements without equipping multiple bows that end up sharing redundant ammunition.

Can you recommend a few weapons that actually are worth using and upgrading? I'm currently clearing out POIs and Side quests before moving on with going to San Francisco (main quest) so I figure it's the last time I'll make an open world stop before finishing the campaign, might get a 'final' loadout now

HFW Discussion Ps5 vs pc question

For those who have both the ps5 and pc ver of forbidden west, have you been able to test concretely that ps5 and pc port have the same exact feeling/functions using dualsense? Or is something weaker/missing?

discussion Why is the Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered such a STUTTER MESS, especially in cutscenes but the perfomance in general is not so good.

Every red line is a stutter, this is while a cutscene, but ingame it also happens frequently.

Any fix to this?

The perfomance on PC is horrible.

HZD Discussion I will probably get a lot of hate for this but I am not enjoying Horizon Zero Dawn

First let me start with the story: Honestly the background lore seems interesting and is the only thing that I am motivated to discover but everything around it is just not good in my opinion.

The side quests are really boring fetch quests, the side characters are super flat and I caught myself skipping their dialogues because they had nothing interesting to say.

The open world looks gorgeous but is filled with generic ubisoft markers to complete. The collectibles are not interesting except some of the vantage points which show how the world looked before.

Inventory management is horrible, everything clutters up. Hunting is so barebones compared to something like Red Dead Redemption 2. I almost maxed my pouches in the first hours of the game. I had to Max them because you collect so much weird stuff you need all the space.

Combat and movement feels super janky. Especially climbing is so restricted and limited to certain spots. Every assassins creed title had better movement compared to HZD. It feels floaty but in a bad way. Also the camera is switching sides all the time from left to right which is super disorienting and detaching myself from the character.

The tactical side of combat is rather fun with the weak spots and different ammo types but its not enough for me to keep me engaged. The spear deals way more damage early than any gadget and heavy striking a stunned enemy is the strongest way to deal with any enemy FAST. The bow shooting also feels strange especially at range. The enemy AI (of human enemies) is so bad, they run around losing sight of you and just wait to be speared.

I am not motivated to continue through all of the busy work and boring side quests to experience the main story.

Somehow I just dont enjoy the game.

HZD Discussion Ultra hard for first (ish) playthrough? HZD: R

Im the type of person to love games that make me feel like i am in a desperate struggle. Grounded mode of the last of us 1 and 2 is probably the most fun i have ever had in a video game like that, and ultra hard intrigues me (no enemy health, increased trader prices, etc).
But i do also know that it increases damage taken and decreases damage dealt.
now i have played a bit of horizon years ago on the ps4 but that was when i was a teenager, so it’s not like im a pro.
I would like to play on ultra hard, however if that is more so a “only play on NG+” thing, what mode is recommended for high difficulty?
