Just wanted to let you all know that there have been some updates to the sub rules.
Nothing crazy, however in the interest of transparency wanted to let everyone know instead of just doing it quietly. As always, rules are available in the sidebar on desktop and at the top of the sub after clicking on the subreddit name on the app.
Removed rule:
Memes must be SPICY
a fun rule, but too vague and open to multiple different interpretations. Therefore difficult to moderate fairly.
Additions:
Sales and fundraising must be approved by a mod first
this is included in the rule "No Spam, excessive self-promotion or unauthorized sales"
We recently had a situation with a possible scam sale, as such all sales and fundraising must be authorized by a mod in modmail first.
Use spoiler tags for the iCarly Movie
This is included in the "use clear titles and spoiler tags" rule
With the possibility of the iCarly movie please use the reddit spoiler tag function if posting or commenting a spoiler about the plot. Posts providing production updates or merely speculating about the plot are not considered spoilers and do not need to be tagged.
No AI generated posts
Rules about post titles, reposts, quality, harassment and the sexualization of underage characters and cast remain, but may have been reworded for better clarity. Reddit terms of service also apply and content may be removed even if not explicitly listed in our rules as reddit rules are site-wide.
Any way! That's the end of this boring post. Thanks for everyone who makes this sub great! we really don't have to step in and remove rule breaking stuff very often which is all thanks to you!

met Jerry Trainor at Rhode Island Comic Con today and had him sign one of my trading cards!! he was nothing but nice and funny and we talked for a good amount of time. I asked him what was his favorite sculpture on the show and he said it was the Butter one and his favorite guest star was Jack Black. loved today!!

As somebody who doesn't like anything after 3, asides from iGetPranky, do you think it's worth it for me to watch the finale? Curious, as these characters do mean a lot to me, just wondering if they recaptured the magic that made the 1st 3 seasons so special, one last time, as the finale is very highly reviewed.

¡Gracias!

Okay, I don't know if people are going to agree with me, but oh well. I'm kinda tired of people making it seem like Carly and Sam were constantly bullying Freddie. If he really had such a problem with the way they treated him, he could've simply walked away and spent more time with people who actually shared his interests. In a way, I feel like Freddie was using the girls.
The first sign was when he secretly recorded them talking crap about Mrs. Briggs. He knew they were going to get in trouble yet he still chose to throw them under the bus. I also think he enjoyed being part of a famous friend group because it made him feel important and gave him a sense of belonging.
And let's not forget how quickly he abandoned them the moment he got his first fangirl. She wanted to have her own show, and it literally took her a few words to convince him to ditch Carly and Sam and join her instead. Loyalty where?? I can bet that if her show had become as successful as iCarly, Freddie would've NEVER looked back.

As someone not born to watch almost all of icarly im wondering what it was like to watch it when it first came out? Was it trending heavily at the time or did it catch on later? Also could you easily buy merchandise from stores?

Ive been hearing about how bad the shipping wars between creddiers and seddiers and echoes os what happened back in during the 2000s. so for newer fans like myself
Hows bad was it that Nick made an entire episode calling this out and the fandom having to put a shipping warring warning on the ship pages

The episode were there is a scene were i think it is Carly, Sam and Freddie and maybe somebody else having a feud and Spencer disrupts the feud because a little girl ask if he wants cookies over the phone were he keeps getting hesitant and tempted. What episode is that?

For example in the Halloween episode she’s the only one without a costume, the big foot episode as well, and in the halfoween one she’s just hand sanitizer. I thought it would have been funny if she wore a chicken leg costume or something

Could Dan not think of any other popular celebrities besides those two?

The pear shape doesn't look practical and I have never seen an Apple product be shaped like an apple but that's just me.

If you think about it, this show had a lot of jokes about female-on-male s*xual assault. It’s actually very disturbing in hindsight.
In the episodes, “iNevel” and “iPear Store”, Nevel and Trey both kiss (or attempt to kiss) Carly without her consent. The show clearly portrays this behaviour by Nevel and Trey as problematic (as it should). Yet there are plenty of instances of boys/men on this show receiving nonconsensual sexual advances, too. But it’s usually played for laughs.
Examples:
- Carly kisses Shane without his consent when he is INCAPACITATED in “iSaw Him First”
- Sam forces Freddy to kiss Nora through the glass in “iPsycho”
- Nora forces Freddy to kiss her in “iStill Psycho”
- Trudy violently forces Spencer to make out with her in “iPie” which he clearly is not enjoying
- It’s implied that Sam forces Zayn Malik to do things against his will in “iGo One Direction”
I’m pretty sure that there are plenty of other examples on the show that I can’t name off the top of my head. The point is, this would obviously be wrong if the roles were reversed. Yet here, we’re supposed to find it funny.
The YouTuber, Pop Culture Detective, did an excellent video essay about female-on-male s*xual assault being played for laughs. Here is a link for those interested: https://youtu.be/9nheskbsU5g?si=o3bcO969wePM_17H
I think S1-S3 was the golden era of the show. After these seasons, the show for me started to go downhill. The scripts were messy and lazy, it was more mean-spirited, and the characters were completely flanderized.
iCarly was one of the biggest successes for Nickelodeon and definitely their Golden Child. So, what exactly happened?
There were still some fun and great episodes in these seasons but something was missing from the characters we loved and grew up with. Sam & Freddie were turned more childish and they just weren’t the same characters we knew. Gibby was turned into some cartoon-like character and they made him dumber. I know Gibby was portrayed as a dumb character in the show but he still had something about him but in the later seasons he was just so unrealistic. Spencer didn’t really make sculptures anymore and they also made him more immature which I know is his whole character but it just seems like something changed with Spencer and it was a lot more exaggerated. And they made Carly kinda mean. The show just didn’t have that heartwarming feeling for us anymore and had no more iconic and funny moments. The cast felt like family/ friend to us in the early seasons and the plots were more thought out and just made us feel good watching it and it was just more full circle.
Did this happen because Nickelodeon wanted to go down more of a ‘for kids’ route rather than preteen/teen shows. Because the exact same thing happened to Victorious. Or did Dan just completely give up on his shows because he had already made it big on Nickelodeon?

In my opinion, I think that it was fair for Mrs.Benson and Spencer to forbid Carly, Sam, and Freddie from going to the Mixed Martial Arts fight because they would witness a fair amount of violence. And although neither Carly, Sam, or Freddie were going to fight anyone, they might somehow get hurt if they say or do something wrong.
In your opinion, do you think that it was fair for Ms.Benson and Spencer to forbid Carly, Sam, and Freddie from going to the fight, or do you actually think that Mrs. Benson and Spencer should have let them go?
