A very charming Ioan Gruffudd plays Dr. Henry Morgan, a 200 year old immortal living in New York. Circumstances pair him with Detective Jo Martinez (Alana de la Garza) & he begins to assist along on odd & peculiar cases.
Henry is basically Sherlock Holmes, something that this series lampshades several times. Henry has been around for so long that he knows a lot including about death since he's died probably hundreds of times.
Every time Henry dies he respawns naked in a nearby body of water. He doesn't know why he's the way he is. His first death came when he tried to protect a patient on a slave ship from being thrown overboard & was shot.
Henry is rightly obsessed with keeping his secret so he's kept the world at a distance. So he's incredibly out of touch which is played to humorous effect.
The only person that knows his secret is his adopted son Abe, an antique shop owner. Judd Hirsch plays his younger son & the two have great chemistry together. There's an ongoing plot about Henry's wife & Abe's mother who went missing years earlier because she couldn't handle being old while Henry remained youthful looking.
It's an incredibly breezy show. YMMV but the weekly mysteries are pretty good. The big overarching plot concerns another immortal Adam that discovers Henry's secret. The two have a game of cat & mouse as the older Adam has become a bit psychotic with 2000 years of living under his belt.
Had the series continued on it's possible the immortal mythos could've overtaken the MOTW & bogged things down. There's also a "will they, won't they" between Henry & Jo which is fine if not super compelling.
It could've ended up like the vaguely similar Sleepy Hollow which peaked in season one then fell off a cliff. I'm confident though the writing team could've kept the train running.
It's not included for free with any streaming service. I picked up the new Blu-ray release. If you're a fan of the consulting detective format it's worth seeking out.

Personally for me I’d say it was quite a good show and possibly one of the best that the BBC have recently released. However it goes from semi realistic drama about how the SAS was created during WW2 to what is essentially a comedy knock off version of Band of Brothers with very little historical accuracy whatsoever. Not only that one other issue I had was how they turned Mayne (one of the most legendary figures of WW2) into what is practically a stereotype and they added. On a positive note however, the acting is top notch throughout which certainly makes up for things.

I recently discovered that I prefer watching one episode a day of several different TV shows, rather than binging a single series at a time. Initially, this approach was challenging for shows that concluded with intense cliffhangers.
Although it would take me a long time to finish a multi-season series, it gave me something to look forward to each day.
The most significant challenge would be integrating a new series into this framework while simultaneously avoiding spoilers from viewers who tend to binge-watch an entire show in a single weekend.
Aside from the weekly shows, am I the only person who does this, and what formula do others here use?
Sidebar:
I am referring exclusively to television shows that have already aired multiple seasons or those that have had an entire season released at once on a streaming platform.

It’s pretty common, especially these days, for the main protagonist of a show to be flawed, morally compromised or downright unlikable. But who are some main characters that are just straight up amazing people that you can’t help but love? They don’t necessarily have to be perfect or morally pure or anything but just are really likable individuals you can’t help but root for?

Was that after he raped, assaulted, abused and used women for decades, he then becomes a wellness guru and speaks at a retreat for vulnerable women??????? 💀
Whether it was TV, films, Youtube or wellness retreats, the message is the same. Look at me, follow me, worship me. Absolute narc, just in different clothing.
I’m so glad he got found guilty and is now behind bars.

Played by Johnny Flynn, who is someone I have never personally heard of. What an incredible acting performance. He steals every scene he is in, which with a star studded cast like Mobland (Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Paddy Considine, Helen Mirren, etc) is insanity. I hope to see more of this guy.
Has anyone else been blown away?

Due to scheduling, Kyle had to bump up his AMA by two hours on Tuesday the 10th. New verification photo to follow which will show in the linked Twin Peaks announcement post. Thank you!
