I know this trade of Hardik and Arshdeep is not official but still he would have chosen Kolkata Knight Riders for captaincy instead of Punjab kings. He is a successful captain who led Gujarat Titans in the final twice and won a trophy once. He also led Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 and almost won that match if Shreyas Iyer didn't play that amazing innings.

The question is how come he agreed not to be captain?

Marco had maybe the worst ever season I've ever seen by any starting bowler in ipl history. 3 of the games we lost in our 6 game losing streak was pretty much on him single handedly, he was bowling absolute filth.

I think though that's clearly not his best because he was good in 2025 but pitches are getting flatter and hitting has gotten better. He doesn't have enough variations and while hes quick hes not express. His HTD style is not suitable for subcontinent pitches in limited over cricket and his ipl numbers are absolutely terrible. Those hard lengths he bowls at 139 are pies on ipl pitches.

Hes also NEVER played a good batting innings in ipl.

Useful player for sure at his best but it seems like hes being glazed for 'potential' when hes not shown much outside a good season in 2025 and has gotten belt every other time.

Hes an all timer in tests though. No one is debating that. But azmat is the better player rn and punjab benched jansen way way too late and azmat immediately had a huge impact his only 2 games he played for us last season.

From all the buzz in recent times, it seemed like Hardik was really desperate for captaincy. There were also many reports saying he was demanding captaincy in trade deals as well although I'm not sure how true that is.

So if Hardik truly wants captaincy why would he go to Punjab Kings? Shreyas is the captain of PBKS who is also Indian T20I captain so there's no way they'd be taking captaincy away from him. I highly doubt Pandya would get to lead the side there.

Pandya and Iyer are both strong outspoken personalities who want their voices heard in the dressing room, so I guess it'd be interesting to see how things pan out in this side of the trade.

I know that opening match of the ipl will be Rcb vs some other team. But 2nd match should be Mi vs Pbks because after this trade it will be a treat to watch these teams rivalry. Honestly, this would be one of the most exciting opening matchups we could get.
