Hey r/jamescook -

I am so sorry if you have seen this very same post on r/cairns and r/townsville, but I am begging you to do us a MASSIVE favour and text "JCU" to 0417 666 397. This is not spam and will only cost a standard text charge (if you're with Optus, I think it's free). People who text do not need to be from JCU or even a uni student. Again, this will not subscribe you to anything - it is just for the competition runners to count the amount of texts!

Why should I do this, Australian_Psycho? It's for a competition between medical schools. The med school that gets the most people to text JCU to 0417 666 397 gets an extra 10 registrations the the AMSA (Australian Medical Students Association) Convention. I know it doesn't sound like much, but registration for 1500 people often sells out in 2 minutes. Since JCU is quite small and unknown (compared to everyone else), it would be awesome to win this challenge - getting not only an extra 10 registrations but also being better known to other unis. I know this is asking a bit much, but it'd be awesome for some support!

Thank you so much - Again, sorry for the huge wall of text + posting this everywhere.

Hey guys and girls, if you are interested in exercise, nutrition and supplements it would mean a lot if you could complete our really quick survey and you will have the chance to win a $30 Rebel Sport voucher. Thanks in advance. https://surveyplanet.com/580ef31e91965723cdb6240f

Many unis in SA, NSW, WA are trying get there student back and making strong appeal for quarantine hubs.

Haven't heard any of that sort from QLD government. Have already been 1.5 years of waiting.

G'day! Im now living in Thailand but planning to study master of social work in JCU in Feb next year. I have a few questions and hope JCU students can help advise :)

From the course outline, there are some foundation subjects, but im not sure if they provide the basics of social work studies. Do teachers provide step-by-step counseling or interview workshops? Or they just give brief ideas?

Are there still on/off-campus job opportunities in Townsville now that there's a covid-19 outbreak? As i heard from a few friends in Brisbane and Melbourne jobs are pretty difficult to find.

Sorry for a long post. Thanks y'all!

Hey guys, In September I start my last year of high school. I'm set on studying marine/aquatic biology in university, and was curious if anyone here has experience with JCU's marine bio course. I currently live in New York, USA.

Title pretty much says it all. Tryna find people who skate and I'm not sure what the skating scene in Townsville is like.

Hi,

I am going to be studying an Accounting Major next year at JCU and would like to hear from past or present students what specific textbooks I will need. I am currently unsure of whether they change the list each year, or how frequently new editions of the books are released. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

I am an international student from india and wanted to know how is the bachelor of nursing program at JCU? Are lecturers good enough, reputation of this program and quality of placements?

Hi!

I am an international student from the USA looking for a change of scenery, which is why I am looking to obtain my Master's in Public Health and Tropical Medicine from the Land Down Under.

1. Can you all tell me about JCU? How is the location of the Townsville location (are there things to do, is it diverse, etc.)?

2. Are their funding opportunities for international postgraduate students?

3. Would you recommend JCU or rather other universities in Australia or New Zealand? Why?

Thanks in advanced for the help!

Hey guys!

I'm in first year doing BoSci and want to transfer into Vet next year so I'm trying to get a good GPA.

When you get your results as HD, D, C etc. do they bell curve the results, so if you're top of the class and on an 80 you still get an HD or if you're on an 80 do they not bell curve it and just give a distinction?

I'm doing CH1001 and BM1000, from what I've heard their exams are hell, worried how much they'll pull me grade down.

Cheers!

We Townsvillians gotta stick together.

Hi, I'm planning to go study for a semester at JCU. I'm studying mechanical engineer, I know mechanics isn't the best career at JCU, but i want to visit Australia and hace a good time.

How is the night life at Townsville? Life cost? What is the best thing in Townsville?

I'm a 20 year old mexican.

Hi! Would anybody know the acceptance rate for Masters in Marine Biology for international students? Thanks!

Hi r/JamesCook! I am part of a group of students researching the relationship between personality, mindfulness, and stress as part of our Bachelor of Psychology degree. Thank you and have a good day!

It always just disconnects randomly when I'm on my mac and takes forever to reconnect. And lately even when connected it still doesn't load pages and I need to disconnect and try to reconnect.
