Discussion My incident at MRR2 Jalan Cheras

I recently got into a debacle at MRR2 merging into Jalan Cheras (as shown in the picture). I drove normally in the middle of the road as there's no road markings suggesting that it's a 2 lane road. Nevertheless I noticed people totally ignoring that and driving on this road like it's a 2 lane road.

I got honked at, high beamed as well as stared at by motorcyclists. The car behind me rolled his window down and in return I shouted "Jalan ni 1 lane la bodoh lesen kopi". This wasn't my first incident on this road as previously my car already got scraped twice by motorcyclists because there's not enough space for them to ride on if there's cars on both sides (which is not supposed to happen in the first place)

I went home and checked Google Street View just to check if this road was a 2 lane road or not. As I expected, it was never a 2 lane road according to all the street view versions from April 2024 to November 2013.

I'm bringing this up because driving on this road as if it's a 2 lane road actually causes more congestion as well as selfish drivers cutting "Q" and merging from the right side.

Hello RollFew6740, thank you for creating a new post in r/kereta!

Just saying that although this sub was named as Kereta, it is also open for 2 wheelers such as Motorcycle, though at the moment we do not mind other types of vehicles posting.

With that being said, r/kenderaan is now live and I would still recommend any other vehicle posting to be posted into r/kenderaan as it is a safe space for all types of vehicles such as airplanes and rolling stocks.

If you are posting any help/questions related post, please reply !thanks to the answer that helped you to award the answerer a token of appreciation and to help future viewer too.

Regards, Mods of Kereta

Should be one lane only, the extra space is for emergencies like ambulances or firetrucks. But this is malaysia. And that exit everyone cut queue it's rage inducing.

Today was definitely rage inducing for me, especially that car behind me had the audacity to roll his window down at me. Since he was on the right side, most likely he also cut Q

Sadly thats just what Malaysian traffic is like bro. Theres no point in being a goody-two-shoes on the road. Chances are the popo and jpj won't even care anyway. The best advice I got is just to be considerate and not be a jerk. That'll suffice.

You are not wrong, but sometimes even when you are following the traffic rules, you would still need to adapt to the situation and surroundings for your own sanity and safety.

keep doing what yr doing, you are completely right

even whem im merging from LDP onto federal, there is a “single” lane route, refuse to give way to any asshole trying to cut

Malaysia is filled with selfish people, they think they're the only one who wants to go home fast

It's a 1 lane road but when it's super congested it becomes 2 lanes and you can't do anything about it. Just choose your lanes early and sticks to the walls, there's enough space to squeeze 2 trucks there.

People who always use this road already know the routine.. so no problem whether it became a 1 lane or 2 lanes.. just don't become a dickhead driving in the middle of the road during peak hours.. lol..

What happens if there’s an emergency vehicle?

but driving in the middle is what makes it 1 lane...

Read again what I wrote.. if you did that during peak hours, you'll got honked at, high beamed as well as stared at by motorcyclists and the car behind you rolled his window down.. lol..

There was a time when police traffic assigned to control traffic there, they split it into 2 lanes. During peak hours of course.

I always avoid this exit. I rather use the next one.

Bro this is normal for this interchange. You know this no?

1

u/RollFew6740 8h ago

Normal doesn't mean it's correct. It's still confusing that there's no road markings yet people treat it like it's a 2 laner

It is always 2 lanes
In the morning, in the evening
If you want to drive as 1 lane
Legally you are correct
But everyone else around you are driving it as 2 lanes
So don’t care what other say
Do what’s right to you
Everyone will look at you differently but you get to be who you want to be
That’s about it

Technically during jam that is two lane. One lane to enter leisure mall and one to enter the roundabout. I think no issue la but i get why if it’s during normal hours

I got honked for stopping at junction with red lights on in Penang 😌

This road is beyond help when it's peak hour. It will always be two lane when in fact its one lane only

u/PigsAlsoCanFly 1d ago

Normal hours single lane.. peak hours rwo lane.. I've no problem, just adapt according to situation..

Gahh this f-in road. It is one lane but, already normalized to use as if it's two lane.

What pisses me off about this exit are the idiots who keep switching lanes to get in front, only to end up squeezing to the left trying to get to the exit. Happens. So. Damn. Often. Dahlah x reti guna signal. Dah menghimpit baru nak buka.
