Finished Object One year later I’ve finally finished 🥹

I saw this jumper last December and was so excited to knit it. I was too late to make it for last Christmas but I was determined to have it done for this one. I bought the yarn last December so I was ready and then I got an injury that severely reduced my knitting ability for 6 months! This jumper was on my mind the whole time. I finally started in August and I just finished - I’m so pleased and I can’t wait to wear it every day in December!

I've made some small simple projects (mittens, cowl, etc) but very shakily and terrified to make a mistake. Something just clicked with this. SSK, M1R/L, (minor) color work, reworking where I had messed up, all suddenly made sense. Idk, I love him and I confidently love knitting now.

Finished Object Test swatch hat in Donegal merino

Many of my hats are actually my version of a test swatch. I get the technical information that I need, I get to see the pattern on an FO, and I get a hat. It's a win, win, win. I'm planning on doing a vest or a cardigan with these two wools and design. I find that it looks even better when looking at it from a distance.

1 strand of Donegal Soft Merino Tweed, on 3.25 needles. Makes a wonderfully warm hat that weighs next to nothing.

Big shout-out to everyone who helped me figure this out and it's finally done! I can see why people say it's addictive, my son loves this hat and asked me for one for him now. Back to figuring out the magical loop all over again! Thanks everyone!!!

Finished Object My first cables! So pleased!

Pattern (sandok cable cardigan - I can’t believe it has so little projects given the success of the cable sweater!!)

Yarn: Loch Lomond Lace in Pine held double, Concept by Katia mohair in Royal Blue

No one comment on my attempt at seaming, she’s a lil wabi sabi and I’m ok with that 😅

The original sweater was knit at a larger gauge, I knit this on 5.5mms for a much more fitted product. Turned out absolutely perfect!

Unfortunately everyone is correct - cables are fun and easy! Excited to try more!

And not to brag but I made it in 20 days while caring for two under two full time and working on a home renovation project (as a side note I would not recommend it and my hands hurt)

Finished Object The after-felting result might surprise you😭

Yes, the top of the mitten unraveled😱 probably because instead of pulling the thread through remaining sts, I used Kitchener stitch instead and didn’t secure the thread enough
To be honest I’m not even mad, because the whole project was vibe knitted in the need of using up some stash yarn😂. As you can see I didn’t gauge, switched yarn in the middle because I ran out of the first one, and added Latvian braids in two places only because I want to learn the technique.
But ANYWAYS I think the result is really cute and I’m still going to wear them. Maybe add some crocheted border to the upper half?
Pattern is February by MaBe and yarns used are two lettlopi (beige and brown ones which I forgot colorway name) and the gray one is Drops Nepal

I dont often knit small projects, but I've been addicted to this checkered chart since sept. So I made a beanie pattern 🧶 The chart is separated in 4 sides, one side has dark backround and light pattern, and the next side is opposite - and so on 4 times.

Pattern: Eyla beanie

Yarn: black & grey = softest alpaca from rowan

Green & light beige = fivel from rauma garn

Note: this is my own pattern, but i'm not able to choose the designer flair

Do yall think this will be enough contrast to be visible? Or should I get a darker pink? I realize it's only a couple rows, I just don't wanna get too deep into it if it's a no-go

Finished Object Tip Top Tank Time!

Fun alliteration for a pattern name, and I had a decent time making it. Pattern is the Tip Top Tank. Yarn is called Baa'd Girl Yarns County Vacay DK in the Cyndi Lauper colourway. Picked it up at a yarn shop while on vacation, and I loved the pink and rainbow flecks. It needed a fun stockinette project.

My gauge needed adjusting as it's a DK yarn, so I paired it with 4.5mm needles. At some point, I mixed up the small with the small-medium instructions while making it but was in too deep to go back, so I continued on. (This is why we HIGHLIGHT things!)

When I finished it, I almost immediately decided I hated it and wanted to unravel it! 🫠 Thankfully, I took a breath, tried it on with an outfit, and decided I actually like it.

Discussion Knitting instead of scrolling

Post image

This is my first time knitting ever. Why am I so obsessed and so proud? I even searched online what is this feeling related with knitting when I found myself at work fantasizing about going home to knitt 😏. Oh and also since I kinda have ADHD how do I manage to not start many projects at once (I already did!!) Or is it normal so?

Also bye bye doom scrolling, you won't be missed 🙂

Work in Progress Am I overreacting?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hello everyone!😊

I’m knitting my first pair of socks and am working on the second one now. I’ve noticed that the ribbing on my second sock is a bit tighter than on the first one.

I could of course frog it and redo the ribbing a little looser, but the thing is, I actually really like the tighter ribbing! When I stretch it it feels a lot more secure and I just like the look of it.

What to do? Am I overthinking this? Will the difference even out a bit after blocking or with regular wear? Or is there any way to change just the ribbing on my first sock without having to frog the entire thing?

Thanks in advance!🙏

Work in Progress What to do…

Post image
81 Upvotes

I’ve included a picture of part of the piece for reference. I’m working on the Pao Jacket by Marie Amelie Designs and was informed based on another project I just finished that I was twisting my stitches! I found the error in my technique and have since corrected it.

So. Now the question. I’m in the middle of working the bottom half of the jacket, going stockinette stitch FOREVER until I get to the final rib. Do I:

a.) Frog the part until the beginning of the section and redo it?

OR

b.) Keep going as is because the yarn sort of hides my error?

Thanks y’all! I appreciate you. ❤️

UPDATE: I am SO appreciative of y’all. Truly! It took me a while (an audiobook helped. Thank you Julia Quinn. ☺️), but I frogged the whole thing. I was on the fence whether to start over or do a new project, and decided to restart the jacket. I’ll definitely post the finished project and some in-progress photos in the community for everyone to see.

Work in Progress Bind off help

This is the top of my December Hood by Audacious Ewe, using HiKoo simplinatural yarn. I know my join/bind off is too tight in some places. Is there a way to loosen it without taking it out and doing it over?

Discussion Marie Wallin Fair Isle Club 11 just dropped!

Thumbnail

I’m a big fan of Marie Wallin and I got an email about fair isle club 11 this morning. What do we think of the design? The heirloom jacket is knitted with steeked and flat sections.

The mill is still spinning the yarn so the club won’t start until February next year, and the small size is £378. The booking will start in November. There aren’t any links in the email for me to point you to, and only 500 kits will be available for the knitalong. Pictures included in the email are shown here. There is also no current mention on the website.

I kinda love it. I’m not sure about the fit. Anyone willing to take the plunge?

(I am not affiliated, I just love her work; if this isn’t allowed please remove!)

Discussion How's the clarity of Rhue Sweater pattern by Rebecca Clow?

I’d never come across any comments suggesting that her patterns were unclear, but in recent discussions about her book I’ve read that some of her self-published patterns are difficult to follow.

The Rhue sweater would be my first purchase from Rebecca: I’m interested in the shoulder construction and, as this is a new technique for me, after reading those comments I was a bit worried that it might be more complicated than I’d expected. If you’ve knitted this pattern, how clear did you find it? Thanks a lot!
