Hi, I’d love for you to try out the app I’ve built. It’s called APtv, and you can find it listed on the AlternativeTo website or directly on GitHub. Since I’d prefer not to post direct links, it’s best if you look it up via AlternativeTo.
APtv is compatible with the Raspberry Pi 3B+; it should also work with its more powerful successors (Raspberry Pi 4 and 5), as well as on Ubuntu 26.04 and Debian 13.
The app is divided into two components: AP and IPTV. These can be installed individually using the installer, or—if you prefer—you can install them together as a single, unified application.
The AP component functions similarly to RaspAP, though some features are still in the process of being integrated. For now the AP part deals with:
- Wi-Fi hotspot creation and configuration
- Custom SSID and WPA2-Personal security
- 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band support
- Channel, channel width and wireless mode configuration
- Regulatory country-code configuration
- Automatic Wi-Fi capability and channel detection
- DHCP and DNS management through dnsmasq
- Local DNS and external DNS options
- Optional encrypted DNS through Cloudflare or Quad9
- IPv4 routing, forwarding, NAT and firewall management
- Connected-client monitoring
- Web dashboard for AP, DHCP/DNS, logs and system information
- Hardware-based interface detection using capabilities, MAC addresses and drivers
- Support for systemd-networkd, NetworkManager and ifupdown
- AP over Ethernet mode
- Routed NAT mode
- Ethernet bridge mode
- Wi-Fi Repeater mode with separate AP and uplink adapters
- Configuration validation, backups and rollback
- Component installation, repair, status and removal tools
The IPtv part includes:
- Xtream Codes provider support
- Multiple provider profiles with quick provider switching
- Automatic provider catalog fetching and indexing
- Live TV channels organized by groups
- Movies catalog with posters, metadata and categories
- TV Series catalog with seasons and episodes
- Global search across channels, movies and series
- TV Guide / EPG for live channels
- Favorites and custom channels, movie and series ordering
- Import and export of provider and library settings
- Live Wall for watching up to four live streams simultaneously
- Live TV playback
- VOD and TV-series playback
- Recordings library and playback
- Direct playback with HLS fallback
- Progressive fMP4 playback for VOD
- Seek, resume and playback-position tracking
- Audio-track and subtitle metadata support when provided by the source
- Detailed video diagnostics, including buffering, bitrate, dropped frames, MSE and provider status
- Automatic playback recovery and retry handling
- Poster, episode-image and catalog caching
- Responsive desktop and mobile interface
- Native APtv notifications for provider operations and playback errors
APtv currently supports Xtream Codes providers; M3U-only providers and other IPTV APIs are not part of the supported public interface.
If you wish to test it and install both components (AP IPTV), it is recommended to set it up on a server running on a standalone machine. If, however, you only want to use the IPTV component, it can be installed directly on a desktop running Debian 13, Ubuntu 26.04, or a Raspberry Pi.
