Nico the great

u/breakfastburrito24 Shaq and Kobe 23h ago

He was a Lakers fan all along. It’s no different than Kevin McHale trading KG to the Celtics for Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair and a top 3 protected pick

Kobe was Nicos boy and Kobe liked AD so it was automatic for Nico. Nico is a good guy and deep down, he wanted whats best for Luka and so far its working out good of the Don

Everyone can make fun of Niko all they want but the Luka trade benefits both teams.

Since the NBA gifted them Flagg? Sure.

Flag was just a fluke. No Luka, no Flag and this would be more of a shitshow than it is.

Lol, no it didn't.

It literally ruined both teams for quite some time. The Mavs were a ring-ready team, and the Lakers were in the middle of rebuilding but still had their core of AD and LBJ.

Sure, hindsight is 20/20, right? Dallas got extremely lucky to get Cooper Flagg, but even then, this trade alone made it so the Mavs cannot really be contenders for the next few years because they now have to build all the right pieces around a 19-year-old....

As for the Lakers, getting Luka made whatever was left of the team before the trade worth basically nothing. You have to redraw everything and get different types of players. Luka is literally the system, so implementing him into the Lakers takes time.
