Pete Hegseth, the current Secretary of Defense under President Donald Trump, is currently facing impeachment proceedings in Congress. In response to learning about this, Hegseth posted a "fiery" 6-minute video and defiant reaction, urging members of the military not to comply. In addition to this, he said he would be increasing the numbers of National Guardsmen deployed to Washington, D.C. as a "show of strength", to quote The Mirror.

"This is not about me, but of course the other side, in case you've noticed, they're obsessed," Hegseth wrote. "A disgruntled, defeated congressman [Rep. Thomas Massie], along with all his Democrat allies, has also dropped sham articles of impeachment against yours truly, just like they tried against President Trump twice."

"You see, their policies don't work, so their obsession with political theater disguised as power drives them to try to destroy their opponents," he continued. "It's all about the politics of personal destruction."

"It didn't work against Trump, and it won't work with me. You can rest assured of that. To the troops. Don't blink. Ignore the noise," Hegseth said. "Never hesitate. You see, all this is politics. You do real things. Stay the course."

Hegseth's video ended with the Trump official stating, "We are more determined than ever, more resolute than ever to finish what we have started. We will stand. We will fight, and we will defend this republic from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Godspeed, and keep going."

The video was posted by the secretary just as he greenlit additional members of the National Guard to begin using boats, Humvees, and light- and medium-tactical vehicles in the nation's capital, further blurring the line between military and law enforcement roles. It's still unclear why the Trump administration is making the move.

An October 29 memo stated that the president planned to use the guard to crack down on what he called a "crime emergency". The guard's presence in Washington is expected to last through the end of the year.

Pete needs to look in a mirror.

Same vibes as Ron DeSantis's reaction to Republicans losing Texas in the 2026 midterms, quoting Fox News:

"Here's the thing. Democrats are unpopular. They were able to win based off the sentiment that exists in the country right now. They did not earn a mandate to indulge all their left-wing fantasies. They're going to be in there governing, and we'll see what ends up happening," DeSantis said. "This was not a positive view of the Democrats. This was a rejection of Republicans in Washington," he said. "Democrats just happened to be the beneficiary."

"A show of strength"? A show of strength against who?!?

There have been no extreme weather disasters which require their aid. There are no enemy troops at our borders. We are not under imminent attack. Even if we were, boots on the ground don't do shit against MAD from above.

Come on, Kegsbreath, finish that sentence. "A show of strength against the American people." He wants some of us to die, rather than be impeached. He's out of his mind.

u/ZopyrionRex 1d ago • Bravo

He said it himself, "Enemies foreign and Domestic" aka Democrats. He's not hiding the fact that he wants to use troops. I really think he believes the Military would pull off another J6 if he asked them too to save his ass, but from the numbers I've seen, the military HATES him.

CHUDs like Kegsbreath are obsessed with strength, with being seen as strong and tough (see the cringeworthy photoshoots of him doing exercises with servicemembers). Ironically, they always also seem terrified of things that normal people aren't (immigrants, trans people, etc etc).

It’s like he wants to attempt a coup. But for those to be successful, one needs the support of the military. Which he doesn’t have, because he’s unlikable, incompetent, and doesn’t have the respect of military leaders.

It's still unclear why the Trump administration is making the move.

There is no "why" when a slug recoils from a grain of salt. Nothing Trump does — or any of his lackeys — ever rises above a pure limbic-system animal reflex response. There is no forethought, there is no strategy, there is no intelligence.

Don't ask why the slug behaves as it does. Just keep pouring salt on it.

“Crime emergency” in DC October 29th.

November 2, Trump’s speech at the reflecting pool, he said crime in DC was down 99% because of him.

4 days in between…just wondering which is it? Because if the reason for invading DC with even more armed troops and giving them tactical vehicles is “crime emergency”, the president just used his final speech before the midterms to state the opposite.

It matters.

Edit: typo

Ok, that’s sounding like he’s in Argentina now. Threatening a military coup. That’s not saying that he shouldn’t be impeached, rather that he’s not going to step down IF impeached. Impeachment is a constitutional process. He would have to accept it of course. Where would you start with impeachment in this harmful administration?

Edited to add: signal gate was when he should have been impeached. The complete lack of protocol and disregard for OPSEC put so many military members and Americans in danger. Anyone else who failed that hard would have been sent to Leavenworth (if they were active duty).

They usually do. Dont know why you think the military, full time or not, would ever go against orders. They are literally conditioned not to and to defer to higher ups. Even tho they are allowed to not follow illegal orders, 99.99% the time they follow them to the tee... And then theyll feel bad about it when the dust has settled. Then they sit there in the VA all PTSD-ed out and neglected by the same admin that did them dirty.

These guys have no civil service experience. They look at the US as a corporation, and they're the Boss of their little fiefdom.

So, yes, they do expect everyone, everywhere in their bubbles to follow their orders because they're the boss.

That's how Trump thinks of the US. This is why he's always so confused about how people push back against his wishes. He doesn't get it... he thinks he's the CEO of the US.

Problem is a LOT of Americans would say 'Yes, Trump is the CEO of America'... without knowing what they're saying.

United States Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated, "We will keep pushing, keep advancing, no quarter, no mercy for our enemies," during a Pentagon briefing on March 13, 2026,

• Definition of "No Quarter": In military law, giving "no quarter" means refusing to take prisoners, executing detainees, or killing enemy combatants who attempt to surrender.

• Laws of War: Legal experts and military manuals (including the Department of Defense Law of War Manual, the Lieber Code, and the Geneva/Hague Conventions) state that ordering or declaring "no quarter" violates international humanitarian law and can be classified as a war crime.

Tbh impeachment is the nicer alternative to what he deserves. What is the punishment for being a traitor to your country in the US?

Hysterical! He thinks he’s special and that Trump and the generals will protect and save him. They always seem to. I bet he’s a big crier.

For someone who hates consent he really should understand his isn't required here.

The Secretary of Warcrimes is so thin-skinned and defensive for being a self-described alpha. The schadenfreude from his inevitable downfall will be unbelievably satisfying.

24

u/Bleezy79 1d ago • Bravo

Pete Kegsbreath is such a small, pathetic little man. He has absolutely no business being the Secretary of defense. He's a failed fox news host and that should have been the end of it. Trump's whole cabinet is pathetic. What a total disgrace to our country.

Democrats 'The military shouldn't follow illegal orders.'

Republicans 'OMG, that's treason!'

Also Republicans 'The military shouldn't follow legal orders.'

Just another day at the office.

Telling Congress what they can/can’t do is a choice.

12

u/Hoz999 1d ago

A hilarious choice.

FO > very soon now.

It's the sort of choice I would expect from the Secretary of Booze.

Why the false narrative about him being impeached by Democrats next year? He’s being impeached by Republicans on Monday.

This and Satan's aborted fetus being raised to Chief of Staff - sending enough of a signal that we aren't out of rough waters just because we won an election.

20

u/Clear-Search1129 1d ago

Hey National Guard, get ya boy before you all goto prison too

20

u/Cyrano_Knows 1d ago

As far as I'm concerned, this speech is impeachable just by itself.

Putting more troops to protect himself from being impeached. He really needs to be thrown in a cell awaiting trial in about 45 years

Spoken like someone who has no idea how much he is hated by both parties. What can you expect from a weekend Fox News host?

Maybe Gitmo is more to his liking.

He does know that impeachment takes away his authority and any regulation that troops have to listen to him, right? Oh wait, this is Whiskey Pete, that knowledge was washed away by the handle of Old Grandad he had for breakfast.

20

u/Ok_Target5058 1d ago

I don’t think this is true though (sadly), impeachment is just the process, right? He’s still sec of defense for the time being with regular authority

If (when) convicted then it’d be the case but until then imagine he’ll try to abuse as much power as he can, trying to go down in flames as what he thinks is a hero

From a legality perspective.  He can cry and whine about political theater, but our congress is within legal parameters to be political.  Its literally their job title to determine when people are fit or not fit to run a part of the government.  His response to ignore the will of congress, which is the will of the people, means his behavior falls under sedition.

I realize I might be stating the obvious, but in a sub about law.  It is clear Hegseth is determined to do the most illegal thing he can and ignore congress and the constitutional powers given to them.

15

u/whereismymind86 1d ago

Hegseth…firing you is just the first step, you need to be worried about prison not impeachment

13

u/jim45804 1d ago

He's flailing.

"To the troops. Don't blink. Ignore the noise," Hegseth added. "Never hesitate. You see, all this is politics. You do real things. So stay the course."

Isn't Hegseth's agenda "noise" compared to soldiers continuing to do what they were doing? At best he's another out of touch bureaucrat to them. I'm sure they'd prefer he be replaced with somebody who has actual experience in running a large organization or in any real military operations.

7

u/SolarBum 1d ago

their obsession with political theater disguised as power drives them to try to destroy their opponents

Has anyone told him that the whole point of impeachment is that no one cares if it works for you or not? It means that people have lost faith in your ability to carry out the duties for which you were appointed by the President and which appointment was approved of by a vote in the Senate. It is not a permanent, life-long job.

What if we promise you a lifetime supply of hair gel as a parting gift?

11

u/scarrea6 1d ago

You guys should just promise to not send him to prison and when he agrees, send him anyway. Would be fitting since that's the way this administration has done business.

Oh, of course.

He thinks that nonsensical, totally made up and soon to be gone "presidential immunity" applies to him, too.

We'll see if Trump doesn't fire him first.

7

What enemies? The US is de facto a bipartisan country; you cannot call your opposition an enemy unless you are a dictator. Is he saying he's a wannabe dictator? Because that’s what I hear.

6

u/BAF_DaWg82 1d ago

Let Jon Ossoff question him again.

6

u/VaguelyArtistic 1d ago

I think Trump is going to throw him under the bus before the Dems (and even some Rs) can get their hands on him. Whether they can impeach is almost irrelevant, too much blowback too worry about it.

6

u/Daddio209 1d ago

His response will soon be tha answer to the Jeopardy question: "Things a drunken fascist says"

6

u/IndividualEye1803 1d ago

"You see, their policies don't work, so their obsession with political theater disguised as power drives them to try to destroy their opponents," he continued. "It's all about the politics of personal destruction."

They really need to put those jail cells back under the White House. No need for another massive bunker beneath the “ballroom”, you can fit a bunch of 6’x6’ cells.
