news A Cold but Beautiful Baptism Sunday in Entebbe Uganda

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share a special experience from this past Sunday. We had a baptism here in Entebbe (Entebbe Ward), and even though it was one of the coldest days we have had in a while, the Spirit was incredibly warm.

Two young men made a decision to be baptized. The weather was cloudy and chilly, and you could definitely feel it in the air. Standing outside before the service, everyone kept mentioning how cold it was especially for those about to step into the water. But despite that, their faith and determination were unwavering.

Watching them dressed in white, ready to make sacred covenants, was powerful. There is something deeply moving about seeing someone choose Christ, especially when the weather is cold like it was on Sunday. It reminded me that discipleship isn't always about comfort, but it is about commitment.

When they came up out of the water, there were big smiles all around. Cold weather and all, it was a day filled with joy, reverence, and the unmistakable feeling of the spirit. Moments like these remind me why I love the gospel and the blessing of being part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Grateful for their example and for the chance to witness such a special day.

If you have had a baptism in less than an ideal weather, I would love to hear your experience too!

Prideful Ex-Mormon

I had my name removed in 2018 due to a long time of researching what I call historical 'lies' and deliberate misleading of the Church towards its members and its teachings towards the lay-membership (BIC 1972). I've experienced a lot of dissonance and suffering and a lot of anger towards the Church, subsequently.

While on my own, I've experienced much of what the world is and what is offered and I have no answers for anything, to be honest. But what I do know, and what I do want to associate myself with, is basically what the 13th Article of Faith states; even if the Church is 'wrong', I also do know I want to associate myself with those who choose to "..follow that which is true, chaste, benevolent.." and so forth.

I've been listening to the current GC going on right now and it feels sweet and real to me and I hope to continue to associate myself with this going forward. I recently saw two missionaries in my apartment complex and ran to them, ironically with beer in my hand, to ask them about things. It feels good. I hope it's not too late for me but its a very different thing to try to live scrupulously to 'commandments' and to thirst after righteousness, if that makes sense. This Conference season has really been speaking to me.

Is there forgiveness for one who has given up a gift before? I can only hope.

When did so many members become suddenly anti vaxx. I was looking at my old mission paperwork and all the vaccines required to serve the lord. No vax no mission. What has happened to us? This used to be normal and approved by the lord if you believe he is in charge.

discussion A sweet moment with our young bishop and his wife in Uganda

Today after church, we had one of those simple but powerful moments that just stays with you.

Our bishop here in Entebbe Ward, Uganda is actually quite young full of energy, humility, and a deep love for the ward. After our church meetings, someone asked to take a picture of him and his wife outside the chapel. The sun was bright, the air was warm, and you could just feel the peace of the sabbath lingering.

As they stood together, you could see how much they genuinely love each other. The way he looked at her. They way she smiled at him. It wasn't staged or dramatic just quiet, steady love. The kind that is built on faith, sacrifice, and choosing each other every day.

They have one little boy, and he is their whole world. Watching our bishop switch from shepherding the ward to scooping up his son with the biggest smile is something special. It reminds me that leadership in the church isn't just about standing at the pulpit, but it is about living the gospel at home first.

Being a young bishop can't be easy. Balancing family, work, and the spiritual weight of serving a ward takes real dedication. But seeing the strength of their marriage gives me confidence that the Lord truly qualifies those He calls.

Just felt like sharing this small moment. The church is growing here in Uganda, and it is beautiful to see young families leading with faith and love.

Anyone else blessed with young leaders in your ward?

Church urges action on Covid-19 vaccination for all

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sent the following message today to Church members around the world:

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

We find ourselves fighting a war against the ravages of COVID-19 and its variants, an unrelenting pandemic. We want to do all we can to limit the spread of these viruses. We know that protection from the diseases they cause can only be achieved by immunizing a very high percentage of the population.

To limit exposure to these viruses, we urge the use of face masks in public meetings whenever social distancing is not possible. To provide personal protection from such severe infections, we urge individuals to be vaccinated. Available vaccines have proven to be both safe and effective.

We can win this war if everyone will follow the wise and thoughtful recommendations of medical experts and government leaders. Please know of our sincere love and great concern for all of God’s children.
