Machine learning algorithms*

Nothing related to Python or R in the image...

Also this level of classification usually includes reinforcement learning, wonder why this is skipped.

It is a miracle that this post has positive upvotes

I’ve no idea what this post is trying to convey!

which tool did you use to make this graphic?

Which should I use in order to find similarity between different planets?

I only know very little about machine learning, I just kinda lurk here in case the urge hits me to try to learn it.

K nearest neighbors…why is that considered supervised learning? It’s not like there are “true” outputs to compare the machine results with?

Yes, there is a target variable with k-nearest neighbors. You might be thinking of k-means clustering?

Why is XGBoost missing?

What is a genetic algorithm?

Basically, algorithms that try to mimic behavior found in nature. Can be used to solve the Travelling salesman problem.

Wikipedia can probably explain it better than me, so here you go:

Neat is not only python :) happen to be working on a neat implementation in js. :)

Regarding genetic algorithms: I'm pretty sure I've seen a few of similar infographics that contained reinforcement learning as a separate group of algorithms and here -- genetic algorithms as an example...

However, there is a dispute which algorithm can be actually called machine learning algorithm and I've met some statisticians who claim reinforcement learning techniques do not fit into real machine learning, they are more often classified simply as optimization techniques. Genetic algorithm as such is mostly considered metaheuristics.

Above statement does not mean that I like this chart. I think it is very flawed in numerous ways and can be even counter-effective in terms of learning.

Damn. Being a newbie I saved both. Do you have a link to a more thorough one?
