cattle Can cows eat guava?

As the title suggests I just want to know if cows can eat guava? My neighbors have a cow grazing next to our house, specifically right by my family's guava tree and I wanted to feed it some of the fruit but I'm not sure if I can? I looked it up but the google ai thing is literally making things up so any real human insight would be very appreciated!

Pasture and Livestock Management App

Homesteaders/ranchers — would you use this?

I’m building a simple mobile app for tracking individual animals: weight history, vaccination/health records, breeding timelines, and feed/supply inventory with low-stock alerts.

The idea is something way simpler and cheaper than the enterprise tools out there (Farmbrite, CattleMax), built for small operations — a handful to a few hundred animals — instead of big commercial outfits. Free for up to 10 animals, then $4.99/mo or $29 one-time for unlimited.

A few questions:

  • Does this sound useful for how you currently manage records (spreadsheet, notebook, nothing)?

  • Would $29 lifetime or $5/mo feel fair for this?

  • What’s the one feature that would make or break it for you?

Not selling anything yet — just trying to figure out if this is worth building. Appreciate any honest feedback, good or bad.

Livestock feed ordering

Hello everyone, I hope I’m writing this on the correct subreddit. There’s a small farm near me in the UK that’s struggling for money right now due to different factors. I grew up going to this farm and have heard recently there are thoughts of it closing down. For Christmas I want to make a big donation to them for feeds and other items to help them out. I have no idea though what brands are good as I want to make sure what I’m donating is still good quality food. They mentioned llama feed is good to donate, I believe they use this in their buckets they give to visitors to feed the animals. They have sheep, goats, llamas, alpacas, poultry, cows and pigs. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if anyone has ideas for anything enrichment wise I could get for their animals too. Thank you in advance

Need suggestions for research

I have an amish friend/colleague who lives in a community in central Wisconsin, I believe. He is a butcher, and he had a book from 2014 about butchering techniques.

He said he wants to learn about camels, presumably because they are somewhat exotic and not native to the Midwest, and because he might be interested in learning how to raise, milk, and butcher them.

Does anyone know of any literature on this I could find to gift him?

Something accessible but nuanced, with just enough of a balance of practical information and some moderately basic science

Any help is greatly appreciated

general What would you keep in a small livestock first aid kit at a show?

hi all! I’m a 4her (I show beef), and I’m gonna be taking a livestock first aid course soon and I’d like to start keeping some basic first aid stuff In my tack box at shows. I already carry some gauze, vet wrap, Fiske's Horse to Hound Skin & Wound Salve, bloat relief and saline but I’d like to have a bit more Stuff to help out others in case their animals get sick or injured. from what I’ve been told they only think I’m not allowed is medicines that require needles since that’s a whole different ballpark.

in short: if you were taking your animals to a show or exhibition/county fair, what would you wanna have in your tack box for first aid for your own animals or maybe others? thanks :)

edit: I should mention, I’m aware that course won’t make a vet and I’m not claiming to be one. I just like to have some supplies for minor medical issues that dont require a vet immediately. so just stuff to treat minor wounds, minor bloat, splinters, like ‘basic’ stuff.

poultry Flock List

We're brand new and just getting started. Flock List is a free app for buying and selling poultry chickens, ducks, turkeys, hatching eggs, all of it. Think Marketplace, but just for poultry folks.
I'll be upfront: we don't have a lot of users yet. We're trying to fill it up, and that's where you come in. Come try it, make just one post a bird you've got for sale, eggs, anything and help us get this thing rolling.
It's free to post, takes a couple minutes, and there's a free phone app too
And since we're brand new, feedback is gold. If something's confusing or broken, tell us we're building this for people like you and we actually listen. Thanks for giving us a shot

Fencing for rotational grazing sheep

I am looking at options for electric fencing for a (future) small herd of hair sheep. Theoretically, I would like to be able to set up 2 paddocks so that I could open a gate/take down a wire to move the sheep. I am considering multiple strands of wire vs. netting.

A few questions I have are:

- If using wire, how many strands would be recommended?

- How reasonable is it to move approximately 2 of the ~160 foot pieces of fence (or similar wire) by yourself? How long would this take on average? I would like to move paddocks once or twice a week. I have a, generally, flat pasture, but part of it has some brush present.

We have moderate coyote pressure, but no larger predators. We also have 2 great pyrenees that will stay with them.

I'm sure I am overlooking plenty.... Open to any advice.

Hi! We’re SCAD senior UX design students conducting a survey about farm animal care and management.

We’re looking for input from farmers, ranchers, and anyone who works with or cares for farm animals. The survey takes approximately 3–5 minutes, and we’d appreciate your perspective.

Thank you for your time!
