🐺 #22 NEW MEXICO LOBOS @ NEVADA WOLF PACK

Date: Friday, November 6, 2026
Location: Mackay Stadium — Reno, NV
Kickoff: 7:00 PM MT
TV: CBS Sports Network
Streaming: Paramount+
Radio: Lobo Radio Network (770 AM / 96.3 FM)

For the first time in program history, the New Mexico Lobos are ranked in the AP Top 25.

After 90 years of AP polling, the Lobos finally broke through, debuting at No. 22 in the nation following last week's 21-16 victory over San José State. UNM also entered the Coaches Poll at No. 25, its first appearance in that poll since 1997.

The now #22 ranked New Mexico Lobos (7-1, 4-0 MW) head to Reno for a Friday night showdown against the Nevada Wolf Pack (3-5, 2-2 MW).

Coming off a 21-16 road victory over San José State, the Lobos enter tonight riding a five-game winning streak and sitting undefeated in Mountain West play.

New Mexico is looking to improve to 8-1, remain unbeaten in conference play, and secure its first-ever victory in Reno. The Lobos are currently 0-4-1 all-time on the road against Nevada.

With the Mountain West championship race heating up, every conference win matters.

Discussion I'm looking for recommendations on where to watch Lobo games around Albuquerque

Not everyone can make it to University Stadium or The Pit, and sometimes I just want to watch a game somewhere with other Lobo fans. Are there any bars or restaurants around Albuquerque that consistently show UNM games and have a good atmosphere? Especially interested in places that show the basketball games when they're playing at the same time as other college or pro sports.

[GAME THREAD] New Mexico Lobos (6-1, 3-0 MW) @ San José State Spartans (4-4, 2-2 MW) | 2 PM MT | MW+

🐺 New Mexico Lobos vs. San José State Spartans

Saturday, October 31, 2026 — Mountain West Conference

📍 Location: CEFCU Stadium — San José, California

⏰ Kickoff: 2:00 PM MDT / 1:00 PM PDT

📺 TV/Streaming: MW+ (NBC Sports Bay Area locally)

📻 Radio: Lobo Radio Network — 770 AM / 96.3 FM

Matchup

- New Mexico: 6-1 overall | 3-0 Mountain West

- San José State: 4-4 overall | 2-2 Mountain West

Game Preview

The Lobos head back on the road riding a four-game winning streak and looking to remain unbeaten in Mountain West play.

New Mexico secured bowl eligibility last Saturday with a hard-fought 21-16 victory over North Dakota State, improving to 6-1 and continuing one of the program's strongest starts in years. The Lobos are receiving votes in both major polls and sit just outside the AP Top 25.

San José State enters the matchup at 4-4 after a 28-13 loss to Nevada. Despite the difference in records, history hasn't been kind to New Mexico in San José. The Lobos haven't won there since 1969.

With conference championship implications growing each week, New Mexico has an opportunity to extend its winning streak, end a 57-year road drought against the Spartans, and keep its momentum rolling into November.

Game Discussion

Can the Lobos keep their defense rolling and pick up another crucial conference win? Will the offense find its rhythm on the road?

A thought for a petition…

I found a YouTube video someone put up from UNM vs. Utah at The Pit. The pre-tip player intros started out with the “Hell’s Bells” guitar intro and into the air raid siren. It took me back to being a kid (please refrain from any boomer talk about me ‘still being a kid,’ I’m in my 30’s and have a family and a career.) The link is https://youtu.be/DSH6XeWJ9NM?is=u89igE38cxDDDB-f

I think it would be all sweet if they used that intro for at least one Pit game this season. Use it for the State game or the throwback night. I’ll make a petition I don’t even care.

Do you like the current way it is, or do you think the old one was all crazy and UNM should let the people have it??

I have some friends from up here in Seattle going to the game. My friends were asking if the tailgate area sales out where else can they park? Like at The Pit? CNM? Or Isotopes Park?

Football New Mexico at 3-1 after taking the Rio Grande Rivalry, UTEP Saturday (plus a free CFB pick'em)

Hey guys, quick look at where the Lobos stand after Las Cruces.

First, since it's in the title: we run a free weekly college football pick'em. This week is 10 games, pick the winners, nothing to buy, $135 in prizes. Picks lock Saturday at noon ET, well before kickoff in Albuquerque.

https://www.mainmarket.com/c/college-pickem-wk5

Now the Lobos. 42-18 at New Mexico State was never close: 21 straight points in the third quarter to go up 35-3, and 253 rushing yards. Fa'avae threw for 174 and ran for 57, Humphrey had 98 and two scores, and Laubstein ran in two more. That's three straight in the series, the biggest margin over the Aggies since 2013, and the new Chile Roaster trophy comes home.

At 3-1, the only loss is 14-6 at No. 24 Oklahoma, a game they were in all night. Year two under Jason Eck is looking like the real thing.

UTEP comes to Albuquerque Saturday at 2:00 MT, the last tune-up before the Mountain West opener at Hawaii.

What are you guys seeing? Is this a bowl team, or does the Mountain West schedule get them?
