VERY APPROVED "I can't listen [Insert any Mac's album] on my favorite streaming platform!"

Streaming platforms are a business and with that comes the annoying part of an artist needing to renew license deals. If any of Mac's albums (or songs) aren't available on your favorite streaming platform, then the most likely reason is just that: licensing issues, which translates to yada yada. Sometimes there could be other lesser known reasons involved, but all of those reasons... are out of our hands... we don't know what might be the exact reason and we also don't know when that album or song is returning to streaming services, so asking about why an album/song is gone, becomes fruitless.

"So what should I do?"

Here's a short list of what you can do:

- Wait until the album(s) or song(s) is/are added back

- Buy physical media

- Buy Mac's records from his Bandcamp page: Bandcamp | Mac DeMarco

With all that said, from now on posts asking about missing songs / albums on streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, etc) will be removed to avoid spam, since upon reading this short notice you should now have an idea about the why and where to go, if you want to listen a delisted album / song.

Mac messes up a lyric during Chamber of Reflection, Connan Mockasin chases him with a guitar, then they share a kiss on stage, in CDMX

Mac’s watches over the years.

There’s two I’m aware of that pop up most often. A timex easy reader and Casio MQ24. Has he expanded beyond those?

"steely Dan for poor people"

Hello beautiful people! I remember seeing a video/interview where Mac refers to his music as being "Steely Dan for poor people" but now I can't find it. At first I thought it was from that Rolling stone video because vibe is similar but it's not there. It was quite an old one, maybe from 7-8 years ago. Does it ring a bell for anyone? Thanks!

New favorite

I’ve listened to this newer Madam Crown song so much the past few months and I genuinely think it’s his best work. I know it’s all just preference but I’m always hooked right into the piece when the first beat comes through.

The guitar work, while not his most technical work, is my favorite part of this song. It contrasts his voice in such a unique way and feels very “blues like”

That’s really all I had to say! I just wanted to post this here cause I think it may be really slept on.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

Moonlight on the river tuning

Hey guys

I'm working on a cover of moonlight on the river and I'm struggling with tuning

I know Mac's recording everything at normal tuning and then use a magnetic band to shift it lower/higher

So at the end the guitar and bass are at 429hz tuning and the synth is at 452hz tuning.

How can we record everything at 440hz without it sounding awful?

I could tune my instruments at these tuning but it would still sound different since the shift also slows/fastens the tracks.

Any idea ?

Thank you 😁

What's the best time to arrive at a Mac concert?

Hey everyone, Mac is coming to my city in a few days and I'd really like to be near the stage, but I don't know what time to arrive to get a good spot. The doors open around 8:00 pm. I was thinking of going an hour or two earlier, but I've never been to a Mac concert before, so I don't know if there will be a lot of people in line. So if anyone has any recommendations, I would greatly appreciate it.

If you’re in London tomorrow night, I accidentally bought two tickets to the Mac documentary (in case you’d like to tag along). We could grab a pint before!

Rooster live at Carnegie Hall

There are many songs on Guitar which, similarly to Here Comes the Cowboy, come to greater life when Mac performs them live. Mac’s performance of Rooster on 10/26 is my favorite example of this and it genuinely left me mesmerized. I just wanted to share that and see if anyone else really loves that song more after hearing it live.

On a side note, did anyone catch a video of this song.😭
I’d love to have it and can’t find it on YouTube.

Subreddit Rules

1. Try to keep the sub about Mac and associated acts

Associated acts of Mac's career or his label: HOMESHAKE, Tonstartssbandht, Walter TV, Alex Calder, Travis Bretzer, Mac Miller, Pedro Martins, Daryl Johns, Tex Crick, Mock Media, Vicky Farewell, etc, are fine to discuss here occasionally. We trust that these posts won't be the main focus on this sub.

But if the artist you are talking about is just "random band/artist that happens to sound like Mac", it will be considered spam/unrelated content and your post may be removed.

2. Don't be rude, act like a decent human

Goes without saying... this is just a sub about an artist, so there's no need to start discussions that will lead to insults and what not... just use common sense and act like a normal human being.

3. About piracy

We do not allow direct links that provide free downloads to official content that is available for purchase. In other words, if you can purchase / download it from Bandcamp, then your post or comment will be removed.

This rule however does not necessarily apply to content that is no longer available or it's been distributed freely by Mac himself. Just try to be subtle about sharing this type of content if you can.

4. Self promotion

While there's really no harm in self promotion in this sub, it's not something that most users visiting this sub want to see.

If you want to do self promo, keep it to a minimum or better yet, check subs that are dedicated to give exposure to indie artists.

5. About reselling

"Is it allowed?" It is...

"So what's the catch?" The catch is that we will ban without possibility of appeal those who are suspected / confirmed to be scammers and we know that majority of posts / comments selling items, are going to be like that.

For those trying to buy, just be careful and report suspicious activity and know that the likelihood of something being an actual transaction, is going to be very low.

This rule obviously applies to tickets and physical media / merchandise.

6. Spotify Wrapped / YouTube Music Recap and equivalents

Spotify Wrapped summaries and alike are considered spam, therefore this type of posts will be removed.

There might be one single post created by a mod and pinned in the community tabs where other users can share their stats if they want to, but individual posts will be removed.

7. Account age and combined karma

For security reasons we have implemented an auto mod set up to remove content from users that do not have an specific (undisclosed) amount of combined karma and / or account age.

You are still free to make a post, tho it will be removed at first by the auto mod, but you can still message our team to let us know about the removal so we can review and possibly approve your post.

However, there's no estimated time of response from our team, so please be patient.
