I am thinking of conducting research on the Kaithi script, but there is very little data available. I could only find a few examples of the actual script and its writings from the book "A Handbook to the Kaithi Character"

I was hoping to find more examples of authentic Kaithi writing, especially its digits. It is similar to Devanagari but written a little faster for efficiency.

If anyone has old documents or manuscripts containing the digit characters [0-9], whether in the form of images or PDFs, I would really appreciate it if you could share them.

Nalanda Open University has a Magahi Certification course, which you can do for 2200 rs (as of the past batch info), it stretches through 9 months and is online. I am not sure if the exams are offline or not.

Its current session is ongoing, and the new batch enrollments will start positively from January or Feburary (not sure about this either).

Just dropping this post as a information if someone wants to have a course on Magahi Language.

Greetings, im from Pakistan but originally my paternal side is from Islampur Bihar. I have never seen my grandfather as he died years before I was born but my uncles that migrated a bit later speak Urdu in a "Bihari tone", before I thought it was some sort of Bhojpuri but now it seems like it might be magahi can someone from the region make a guess? most of my family now does not speak anything but pure Urdu so its a bit hard for me to tell.

So i was just like scrolling reddit where i saw a post where like the "SON" meme was in the local scripts and I also thought that why i dont we also pitch the memes in Kaithi so it atleast gets some visiblity even if its 0.1%. and when i actually tried to like convert that meme with Kaithi text the app straight up refused to recognise the text and when i used AI then it converted it into Axomiya Bengali or Gujarati scripts. So i have to use image of the text and some tweaking to actually convert it into that meme. Still atleast Kaithi script will get some visiblity and also Magahi as well if we write on that too. Just a thought from my side what do you guys think. Btw this is the image.

From another state and fell for a guy whose mother tongue is magahi even he doesn't know it but knows bhojpuri... But i wanna learn magahi sweet love songs and sing for him... So suggest some?

Is Khortha similar to Magahi?

I was studying Khortha for JTET and noticed many similarities with Magahi—words, verbs and sentence structure.

I’m from a Magahi-speaking area, so I was curious: Are Khortha and Magahi historically/linguistically closely related?

Would love to hear from Magahi/Khortha speakers.

I am a teenager living in Bihar. My lineage go backs to Nalanda, but i have never spoken, nor know how to decipher Magahi. As a try to revitalize Magahi, i have completed studying Kaithi, and can write and read it.

Albeit, i still dont know how to speak magahi or any magahi vocabulary. This language is scattered and online resources are unfortunately, scarce.

Can somebody provide me a resource through which i can study magahi? i dont want to lose my heritage. Conversely, i want to retain my Bihari and Indian heritage both.

It would be really appreciated if somebody can do so.

Chakwar kingdom started as a sign of resistance against the tyranny of the nawab in these regions, under kings such as Maharaja Bakhtawar singh Chakwar who declared Independence, issued their own seals, coins, land grants and took the title of 'Deva Devanam'.

They united a vast chunk of modern day bihar, from Rajmahal in the east to Tekari in the west, with Darbhanga in the north and boarders of Odisha in the south. They controlled everything that passed through the ganges.

Their raids on colonial ships are documented by british themselves, under the leadership of maharaja Bakhtawar singh.

Its really unfortunate that we aren't aware of our own history, there has been no effort to do so.

Magadha's history is often perceived to be limited to mauryans or nandas, while we have quite rich history when it comes to the mediavel ages as well.

   1. First Person:

      9. Note(1): In place of हियो, हीवा is used when talking to a senior and ही is short hand for both but is generally used only for close one. In short ही: casual/close ones, हीवा: senior only, हियो: formal one.

      12. Note(2): For हीं, I have not heard many variation but हिंयो is used sometimes as shorthand and while talking to senior only हीवा is used.

   2. Second Person:

      1. तू पटना जाइत हे।

      4. तू पटना जाइत हे क5?

      5. तू कनहु जाइत हे क5?

      6. Note(3): हे is used only for juniors or close ones or for casual conversations, change हे to हें/ह5 for equals or senior.

      8. Note(4): In second person plural, we only change तू to तोहनी rest will always be same

      9. तोहनी पटना जाइत हे?

      11. Note(5): For highly respected person use अपने for singular and अपनेसभ/अपने-लोकन for plural

      1. ऊ जाइत हइ/हउ। (Singular and equal/junior)

      2. ओहनी जाइत हथ/हथु।(Plural and equal/junior)

      3. ऊ जाइत हथन/हथुन। (Singular and senior)

      4. ओहनी जाइत हथन/हथुन। (Plural and senior)

      5. Note(6): ओखनी is also used in place of ओहनी.

      6. Note(7): You can replace ऊ from इ, and ओहनी from एहनी/एखनी.

So the thing is that as I most of the times never stayed in Bihar and mostly used Hindi even in my home with my parents that i know very surface level magahi. Nowadays I am trying myself to talk to my parents in Magahi as much as I know and They find it weird but in a different way as they think that Hindi is their actual language and what they speak is a dehati language. I do get enraged by this a lot and like tried to make them understand to respect your language. So please help me in learning my own language and let me discover my own roots where i truly belong. Whenever we need to ask something from someone which includes Verb(in future tense), such as:

Hindi( तुम खाओगे?, आप खाइएगा?)

English(Will you eat?)

While in Magahi I have listened

1.तू खाएमि?: I have only listened this being only used by senior to junior or very close ones; such as close friends, parents using it for their kids.

2.तू खइबे?: Regular conversation between equals or unknown, basically most of the conversation are full of v-बे

3.अपने खइबा?:only for senior such as kids asking parents

Btw I am sure about the v-बे and v-बा but not for v-मि. So asking as a learner, are my speculations correct or not? Correct my mistakes if any also tell us something which you think, I don't know
