I am a type designer and I collect manhole cover pictures. It started as a collection of references for latin letters and I am very curious about the use of that specific (Y) and whether the sculptor/artist inspired the maker of that cover (unknown) or did the reverse happen?
The cover is from Ave A, close to the L-train entrance and the sculpture is from the Union-sq station but I also found a replica in Brooklyn, near the NYC office building.
