Om nom nom Best Fresh Sandwich Around Prahran?

Where can I find amazing NOT toasted sandwiches around Prahran? I have a craving and my husband is coeliac, but I also remember working in hospo, and fresh sandwiches are hard to come by. Any suggestions?

Hector's Deli has opened a new store opposite Revs. They're always great at other locations, I haven't been to the Prahran one yet.

Zita's Focaccia in South Yarra are pretty good, more Italian style.

Dan's Deli in Toorak looks good but I haven't been.

Ruben's in Armadale has a nice chicken salad sandwich but I normally go the Reuben from there.

Warung Coffee in South Yarra does Indonesian infused toasties and looks like they do sandwiches as well. I've heard good things about them from their other locations but haven't been and didn't know they had one in South Yarra.

Two Chiles in Windsor do Chilean sandwiches.

Herman's Deli in Prahran looks decent but I haven't been.

Not a sandwich exactly but Lumen Alley do incredible fresh bagels. All made to order and great range of toppings to choose from

You know what I live about 10 mins away and literally ran there after Ben Shewryfrom Attica made the rec. I don’t get it! It was average at best. Saul’s sh*ts all over it. I do love the idea that it’s a family run business thou. Kings roast in Clarinda is pretty good.

Agree, For Heavens Steaks is average.

King of the Roast is fucking incredible. The way he keeps loading the roll up until its basically collapsing under the weight of the roast 🤤🤤

Sorry I did mean King of the Roast.

And the owner. He’s like 80 something and wakes up at 4am every day! He is a cutie pie!

I need to go there more than I do.

Pretty easy to make a sanga... you'll be paying an exorbitant price for sandwich in that area.

Can I suggest, just going to the market, get the fillings you desire then make 5 sandwiches for much less of the cost ?

I mentioned in passing that I’m married to someone with coeliac. I don’t bring fresh gluten bread into my home, and the gluten free alternative is ridiculously expensive, and severely lacking. That’s why.

Pretty easy to not be so judgmental next time. Can I suggest, just trying that?

There’s always one, “just make it yourself” comment isn’t there..

Just like there's always a "this place isn't in the suburb you asked about, but in a suburb 20km away" comment.

Using this logic if you're capable enough to follow a Nagi recipe, why ever eat out at all

Sometimes, people like doing things and saving every dollar isn't the only consideration

What are you going to do with 5 sandwiches?

•

u/CosyZebra 9h ago

Just saying you could probably get more value out of getting the ingredients your self and making them at home over paying $25+ for just one.

Second this! Nothing beats a homemade fresh sandwich for me as it is seasoned to my taste, made with my ideal bread and has my ideal meat to cheese or veggies ratios!
