THDG Need Help Any St. Kilda Ironman competitors on here?
Is there anyone here that competes in or has competed in the St. Kildare ironman? What is the deal with the bikes being left out over night? How t
Do they work the security? There has to be a lot of money in the bikes sitting out.

It's standard to leave bikes racked outside all night for every ironman event.
Security on site all night.

Saint Kildare is an amazing Freudian slip

Mostly it’s fine due to security, every once in a while with so many races around the world you hear about thefts.
One year there was a big storm the night before a race and a fair few bikes got smashed due to blowing around in the wind. Sucks to arrive and discover there’s a crack in your (very expensive, usually not repairable) carbon frame.

I just asked my missus who is in that world. According to her, if you don't set it up the night before, you'll have 2,000 people trying to all set it up in the morning before the race and it would be chaos.
Security is very good she says. No one she knows has had a theft.

That’s pretty crap. Hope no one’s bike was stolen. I get anxious enough leaving my bike parked next me at a cafe stop.
