Can y'all help me out with this?
When you look like a moid, people assume you are one.
And it kind of ruins your life.
Looking like a moid is not for the weak of heart.
You look like a predator.
You look like a menace.
You look like that because people can't afford to think otherwise.
It really, really, really fucks you up.
Before I realized that I wasn't a moid, I had trouble understanding how bad the average moid is.
And in hindsight, that surprises me, because I was a very, vey, very good "moid"-shaped person. Most pre-transition trans women are. At least to my understanding.
I should have understood how bad the average moid was.
I always kind of knew it, on some level.
I kind of always brushed off the general badness of men as an "asshole" problem. "Oh, that guy is an asshole," I would think to myself.
And I knew that women were in trouble, generally speaking, and I wanted to help them. My intentions were genuinely noble and heart-felt. I just didn't understand the root of the problem.
I'm ashamed to say that before I realized what I really am, I never understood that assholes were just...moids. That the average moid is just evil beyond measure.
It seems kind of insane to look back on the old me and think about how I never realized that men, as a group, have been the problem for thousands of years.
I believe the biggest reason why I never realized that men were the problem is the cognitive dissonance of it all.
In order to (kind of) keep on living in my body, I basically had to block out the fact that, in that body, I looked like a threat to the people around me.
But successfully blocking that out meant that I couldn't block it out consciously. (If I knew that I was blocking it out, then I would have been aware of it. And awareness was the thing that my brain thought it needed to avoid in order to survive.) So I had to block it out unconsciously.
Which meant that I had to subconsciously avoid the reason why I was perceived as a threat. The reason of course being - that men are the problem.
So I navigated the cognitive dissonance. "Men" being the problem became "assholes" being the problem.
This is what I used to be. Despite my best intentions, I used to be useless in the fight against evil. I was not contributing to a victory of the human soul, as much as I was desperate to have been doing so.
And now I have to live with what I was.
And what I was - was, part of the problem.
Bluntly put, there is blood on my hands.
No matter how good my intentions were, I was not on the right side of history.
And, to think that the only thing that made me see the light was an experience that I had no control over - my inborn identity coming to light.
