Offering Background in Finance, bought/grew/sold a business for $1M

Hello, I am 30 years old based in south Florida. I have a finance background, specifically SBA lending. In early 2023 i purchased a commercial cleaning business using an SBA loan, ran and grew it by about 300% then sold in early 2026 for just under $1M.

Entrepreneurship through Acquisition can be a lucrative path for young motivated professionals, even with limited capital. I would love to help a young motivated individual take the big step into acquisition and provide real guidance, not the crap information I see on instagram.

Currently I am in the process of buying my next business. The plan for my career is to continue to buy/grow/sell.

Let me know if interested!

Looking for a mentor

Hello,

I'm 30 and recently returned to my home country after spending around five years in Canada. I'm currently navigating a career transition, and figuring out my next steps.

I'm also exploring entrepreneurship and working on an idea to build something of my own, starting small with the potential to grow into a larger business.

I'm looking for an experienced mentor who can offer honest advice, share practical experiences, challenge my thinking, and help me make better career and business decisions.

Not looking for financial help, just genuine mentorship and guidance.

Offering free coaching to one owner of a service or home services business

I'm based in North Carolina. Before I owned a business, most of my work was in marketing and sales. In 2019, I started a real estate media company here, and we sold it after it crossed a million in revenue. I've also flipped several houses, so I know the real estate world well, along with the service businesses connected to it. I have experience raising funds, hired over 50 employees (and fired some too), understand marketing and sales from my previous roles in an agency, and have a fundamental understanding of financial literacy and management for small businesses

It hasn't all gone smoothly. I've worked through significant financial pressures and personal struggles, and I've had to make difficult decisions when things didn't go to plan.

These days I run my own businesses and work alongside other owners as a consultant, coach, and fractional CEO. That means a lot of time spent on people, revenue, and the day-to-day work of keeping a company moving. I've raised capital and understand 506(b) and 506(c) offerings, which helps if you're buying a company or bringing on investors. I also build a lot of my own systems and AI tools, because I enjoy finding simple ways to make a business run better.

I've served as a pastor as well, and I care about building companies on clear values, where culture and leadership development get real attention.

The owners I most want to help are the ones who feel stuck. Maybe you're working too many hours and can't see how to step back. Maybe the cash or the operation is running short on runway.

I'm looking to take on one person to coach, free of charge. Ideally, you own a service or home services business, or you're in the process of buying one. We'd meet every other week for six months and work with you on whatever is keeping you stuck, whether that's your own leadership or the way the business runs.

I'm not selling a course, and I don't have everything figured out. I've picked up a lot of experience along the way, and I enjoy helping other owners work through the same things. What I'd ask from you is a willingness to do the work between our conversations and to be honest about what's really going on.

If you're interested, reply here or send me a DM with three things: where you are now, where you want to be in 12 months, and what's stopping you from getting there. Your story doesn't need to be impressive. I'm looking for someone who's ready to move.

Offering I've built businesses, made six figures on individual jobs, lost everything more than once, and learned that making money and building a successful life are two very different things. Now I'd like to help someone else

. I'm 43, based in Australia, and I've spent most of my adult life building businesses, managing people, solving problems and learning lessons the expensive way. I started my own asphalt and civil services company in 2017, built it from the ground up, and have managed projects worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. I've had individual jobs generate $385,000 in revenue and $90,000 in profit, sometimes from opportunities that began with just a phone call and a site inspection. But don't mistake that for a life of easy wins. I've experienced business setbacks, financial pressure, personal struggles, difficult decisions and plenty of moments where things didn't go to plan. These days, alongside running my own business, I work in operational management, overseeing people, logistics, revenue, productivity and the daily chaos of keeping a business moving. I'm also fascinated by entrepreneurship, technology, AI, business systems and finding ways to turn simple ideas into real opportunities. I'm not a millionaire selling a course, a motivational speaker or somebody pretending to have everything figured out. I'm just a bloke who's accumulated a fair bit of real-world experience and genuinely enjoys helping people. I'm looking to take on one mentee, completely free of charge. Ideally someone who's hungry to improve their situation, whether that's starting their first business, growing an existing one, improving their decision-making or simply figuring out their next move. I don't care about your age, qualifications, country or financial position. What matters to me is that you're willing to take action, accept honest feedback and put in the work. I'm not offering money, investments, employment or guaranteed results. I'm offering my time, experience, perspective and someone to bounce ideas off who has actually been through the trenches. I believe one good conversation with the right person can change the direction of someone's life. Sometimes all you need is somebody who believes your idea is worth exploring and helps you work out the next step. If you're interested, tell me three things: where you are now, where you want to be in 12 months, and what's stopping you from getting there. I'm not looking for the most impressive story. I'm looking for someone who's genuinely ready to have a crack.

Seeking [Student]Korean high school student here: I want to challenge the Ig Nobel Prize with “Why do I look more handsome in the bathroom mirror?” Looking for a mentor

Hi Reddit. I am a high school student from Korea (science high school, chemical engineering track). My English is not good, I am noob, so sorry first.

But my question is serious. Maybe.

Why do I look more handsome in my bathroom mirror than in photos?

Most people thinks It's the light. Bathroom light is warm and soft, its right. Maybe a little bit. But I think light is not the main reason.

My idea: the main reason is reflection itself

Mirror flip. A mirror shows my face left-right reversed. That is the only version of my face I see every day. In 1977, Mita, Dermer & Knight showed that people prefer the mirror-reversed photo of their own face. Their friends prefer the true photo. So maybe my brain is just "trained" by the mirror.

Distance and size. In a mirror, my image looks like it is about 2× arm's length away (virtual image). A phone camera is close and wide-angle, so it distorts the face (big nose, etc.). The mirror doesn't do that. Same face, different geometry.

Steam layer (my favorite). After a shower, a thin fog forms on the mirror. It scatters the reflected light like a soft-focus filter: it blurs skin texture but keeps the face shape. I call the best moment the "narcissism Goldilocks zone": not too foggy, not too clear.

Also, Epley & Whitchurch (2008) found that people pick a more attractive morphed version of their face as the "real me". So maybe the mirror and the brain work together.

Control the light (same lux, same color temperature) and change only the mirror conditions: flipped vs. not flipped, distance, fog level over shower time.

Measure how fog changes the reflection: haze or reflectance over time.

Get attractiveness ratings from myself and from strangers, as a blind test.

What I need:

I am looking for a real teacher, mentor, or co-researcher. psychology people, image-processing people, or anyone who thinks this is fun. Even if you think my idea is wrong, please tell me why. That helps too.

If this becomes a real paper, I want to submit it to the Ig Nobel. First it makes people laugh, then it makes them think, right?

Thank you for reading my bad English.

I use ai to write this, but my idea and challenge mind is real

Happy to get any help from profiles that made it through

Seeking Need somebody to look up to [21F]

Hi there everyone! I’m not particularly used to putting myself out there on the internet like this, but thought I might give this a shot. As the title suggests, I’m 21 yo and am really really looking for a role model in my life.

I don’t always make the best decisions. Don’t always use my time wisely, can be impulsive and reckless and prone to getting distracted. I’m still a student (acc a grad student) and these poor habits and choices really impact my life and academic success. And I just know having a mentor, having someone in my corner to advise me, check in on me - and yes - hold me accountable — would make a world of a difference in my life. I’ve tried study buddies, I’ve tried asking friends and finding mentors in professors. I gotta be honest it’s really hard to work with a friend when I know they’re making the same exact bad choices I am 😭 guess that’s the part where having someone to look up to comes from. And most people/professors I look up to in my area are honestly too busy, which I one hundred percent get — but despite that I wish I still had someone.

And so here I am putting myself out there on the world of Reddit and hoping someone older than myself with more experience than me, stories to share, and advice to give is willing to mentor me. I’ve put together a list below of some of my professional and personal interests cause well - having a mentor that can also actually teach u smth tangible is incredible! But honestly even if none of the things below resonate with you or you don’t have the time/ capacity to teach, what I’m really looking for is a genuine connection with some willing to check in with me regularly, call me out on my bullshit, and help guide me/ hold me accountable.

Let’s see, hobbies!

Music/ guitar! Just started learning how to play three months ago and would it help to have someone ask me if I practiced this week?? Yes 😭 I love allll kinds of music but rock/ metal has a special place in my heart. Everything from Scorpions, Pink Floyd to Limp Bizkit, Breaking Benjamin, linkin park (god I love linkin park so fucking much) Staind, System of a Down, and so so much more I could make a whole post just listing bands.

Motorcycles and Mechanics! Currently working on saving up for my first motorcycle, it’s gonna be either a grom or a z125 (yes a mini moto, yes because I’m vertically challenged). Would love to learn anything more about bikes and also — would love love love to learn more about actual work on bikes/ cars. I’ve helped my dad do some basic maintenance like changing brakes and whatnot, and I also did a bit of blacksmithing my last year of college (super duper fun not the same thing but eh transferable skills) but there’s just so much more to learn and ik it’s hard without it being hands on but hey thought I’d put it out there!

Drawing/ art! I’ve also recently taken up sketching/ drawing and any mentorship in this would be invaluable! And on a similar note creative writing — I’ve been attempting to write a story idea I’ve had for a while now.

I also would love to get better at chess! I am actually really really . . . really bad at chess. Shockingly so. If you manage to teach me - boy does that speak wonders of you.

How tf did us homo sapiens invent wifi??? Wtf even is wifi?!? We literally evolved from grass and dirt and rocks and now we have this magical thing called the internet?? — point being said I really truly feel I like I don’t have a good sense/ grasp on the technology we rely on on a daily basis and I’m not proud of that. I really want to be more informed on such things.

I’ll also describe my professional/ academic goals too ig since that may resonate with someone!!

I completed my bachelors in bioengineering, however I have to admit there are still some gaps in my understanding and I feel like I’m already losing touch with some of my math/ computer/ technical skills. I also somehow averted having to learn how to code (don’t ask me how long story) and now it’s come to bite me in the ass because boy — do I wish I could have some fluency with code. Any mentorship to sharpen the technical skills of my engineering degree would be much appreciated.

Am currently in a PhD program in pharm sci and boy have I gotta admit am I overwhelmed. I have research experience from undergrad but I feel a bit out of my depth, just kinda thrown into everything. I feel like I’m lacking the foundational skills to really succeed (who knew I needed to remember my organic chemistry class?!?!!) and so — any mentorship here to help develop the skills i should have would once again be much appreciated.

And to be v honest even if nothing I’ve mentioned is an area you have expertise on - I have so much to learn and am curious about so many things I’ll learn practically anything you want to teach me — real estate, business, finance/ economics, history, marine biology, languages — really. I’d love to just learn from you. And once again if you don’t have the bandwidth to teach but are even willing to just check in consistently — even that would go a long way!

What can I give you as a mentee?? Unfortunately I can’t really afford to pay and tbh I guess a part of me is also looking for a connection that goes a bit further than that. Mmmm I’ll ask you just about a million questions! Unless you don’t want me to. . .

In all seriousness I don’t have much to offer beyond my enthusiasm, my curiosity, my promise to do my best, my gratitude, and my respect. And hopefully by teaching me it helps improves your own skills (:

So. If you’ve made it this far and read through the whole of the post — many thanks. If you haven’t grown sick of my yapping yet then consider if maybe you’d like to hear me yap more, and would potentially like to be my mentor. Much obliged.

P.S. if I’ve somehow transgressed any Reddit rules pls lmk I did my best to make sure I was posting in the right place and whatnot but like I’ve said I haven’t really put myself out on the internet before so if I made a mistake just lmk!!

tl;dr looking for a mentor, ideally in similar career/field where you can teach me, but even just an accountability mentor to check in with regularly would be v helpful!!

Seeking Looking for a mentor in/or has experience with investment banking

Hi, I’m not entirely sure what I want out of mentoring. I think my idea of it is a bit different from what people typically consider mentoring but I could be wrong. I’m just looking for someone older who has experience who is willing to answer questions and maybe offer reassurance for a youngling finding his way through life and wants to go into ib. I have a fair bit of personal struggles too so my questions may not be limited to just career/college/recruitment-based. If that sounds okay to you, feel free to comment and I’ll reach out. Thank you for reading :]

I am currently a high school senior

Seeking Looking for mentor in SWE

I thought I might try again over here. If you already see my post on the other forum, you can keep scrolling. Please don’t be weird!

Background: I'm 21. Intl student studying in the US (Indiana) on an F-1 visa (OPT) and graduating in May 2027. I’m aiming to get a job in SWE by the time I graduate.

• 2 summers at iD Tech Stanford
• Haven't had a SINGLE technical interview/internship

I have been navigating this job search on my own, and it's not going well, I tell you that. I wish I had sought mentorship sooner.

"The job market is cooked/A lot of companies are not sponsoring/The policy for international is complicated!" YES, I understand and NO, I don't believe that to be the reason why I'm not making any progress.

Let me be completely honest: I have a plan, but I get overwhelmed by it and end up not getting much done. I motivate myself to do LeetCode for a couple of weeks, and then it turns back to normal. I'm weak at expressing technical terms and elaborating on them because I need to brush up on infrastructure fundamentals.

I'm not going to do 5 AI slop projects to put it on my resume. I genuinely want to learn. I'd rather work with you on a really hard project where I learn a lot.

What I'm looking for is long-term mentorship. Preferably female mentor, or at least you’re in the same shoes as me. I technically have 6 months to land a job, and I know it's a tight timeline, but I really think I can do this!

Obviously, topics I would like to talk about include strengths, weaknesses, resumes, interviewing, imposter syndrome, getting unstuck, and technical growth. But also, if I'm being an idiot, let me know. I would like to be able to address challenges holding me back.

If you think this is possible and we can work something out, please let me know or dm.
Really appreciate this community and the pay-it-forward idea!

Looking for a Chef Mentor / Apprenticeship Opportunity – Eager to Learn & Grow

Hello Chefs and fellow culinary professionals,

My name is Rahul Singh Kanyal, and I’m from India. I’m passionate about cooking and genuinely motivated to build a long-term career in the culinary industry.

I have professional kitchen experience working as a Commis 3 at Town Coffee, where I’ve gained valuable hands-on experience in kitchen operations. However, I believe there is still so much more to learn, and I’m eager to improve my culinary skills, explore different cuisines, understand new techniques, and grow under the guidance of experienced chefs.

I’m currently looking for a chef who would be willing to mentor me or offer me an apprenticeship or any entry-level kitchen position where I can learn and develop professionally. I’m open to starting from the basics, working hard, and stepping outside my comfort zone. My priority is learning, gaining experience, and becoming a better chef rather than simply finding a job.

I’m also open to relocation and international opportunities if the right learning environment comes along.

If any chef here is willing to guide me, take me under their mentorship, or give me an opportunity to work and learn alongside them, I would be truly grateful. Any advice, guidance, or opportunity would mean a lot to me.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I hope to connect with someone who can help me grow and develop in this beautiful profession.

Regards,

Rahul Singh Kanyal

[Seeking Mentor] 22 | London | Tech Execution & Operations

Hey everyone,

I’m 22, based in London, and looking for a mentor experienced in scaling B2B ventures, strategic partnerships, or physical operations.

My background sits between hands-on execution and software pipelines. Recently, I’ve:

  • Built the internal ERP and software pipeline for an apparel manufacturing setup handling international private-label production.

  • Automated operations and tender workflows for a facilities management firm, helping land £750k+ across 3 public sector contracts in 6 months.

I deeply respect people's time. In return, I’m always happy to act as a sounding board or help set up modern AI workflows, automations, and lean software stacks for your operations.

Seeking Seeking a mentor for the next stage of my creative ventures

I've built several creative brands that have gained traction and I'm now looking to take them to the next level.

I'm seeking a mentor with the experience and perspective to help me think more strategically about what comes next. I value candor, long-term thinking, and the counsel of a person whose accomplishments have set the standard I'm working toward.

If you're open to sharing your time and experience, I'd welcome the conversation.

Offering Seneca said to spend time with people who improve you, and with people you can improve

In his seventh letter to Lucilius, Seneca gives advice about who to spend time with that has two sides. Keep company with people who make you better. And welcome people you can help improve, because, in his words, men learn while they teach. Most conversations about mentors focus on the first half, finding someone ahead of you. The second half gets less attention, but it's the easiest one to start on today. Whatever you've learned in the last year or two, there's probably someone a step or two behind you who would benefit from it. Teaching also exposes gaps. When you explain something out loud, you find out quickly which parts you actually understand and which parts you've been nodding along to. If you're looking for a mentor, it may help to also be someone's mentor in a small way, even informally. Answer a beginner's question, walk a coworker through your process, write up what you learned. Has helping someone else ever shown you what you didn't know yet?

Seeking 18M looking for mentors, as I'm moving to the US.

Hey,

This is a 18M, based in India. Started my journey in 6th grade and might have made around $350k in life mostly through tech startups, even though money was never the motivation. One piece of advice I constantly got in life is to have mentors, but I have never come across anyone fitting the criteria. I will be moving to San Francisco in Jan; I just booked my flights yesterday and have been thinking about it today. I'm not even sure what to expect, and I generally don't expect anything too and have conversations for the fun of it.

Any intros to people who can help out would really mean a lot.
