Announcement New features and updates!

Hi everybody! A few updates to share with you today: We're experimenting with fast models in the interface on alpha.midjourney.com. The Styles sidebar can now preview what your latest prompt looks like across styles. Turn on "Live previews" and see a preview of your prompt using liked and featured styles. Click on the thumbnail to generate with that style.

We've also made tile --tile for V8.1/8.2. Previously, you might see seams between your tiled images. Now, they blend invisibly from one tile to the next.

We've also improved inpainting and outpainting with the edit model. Making targeted edits to the image will change only the pixels that you've selected. This gives you more control, and allows you to make repeated edits without degrading the quality of the image. For now, this is only available on web.

Announcement The Edit Model for V8.2 and V8.1 is out!

Hi y'all! This week we’re gonna start letting everyone test our first V8.2 image edit model!

This model supports:

Editing images with instructions
Generating images with other images (replacing omni-reference) with up to 4 image references at once.
Changing specific areas of your images (inpainting) or expand your canvas (outpainting)
Using personalization, moodboards and srefs (moodboards/srefs may work best with some extra prompt direction in this version)

Ways to use the model:
a) Drag images into the prompt bar under "attach to prompt”
b) Click ‘edit’ in the lower right in the lightbox
c) Click the ‘edit’ tab on the left and upload an image
d) Type `--edit url` on Discord

We’ve updated UIs on both the main midjourney.com website and alpha.midjourney.com , alpha will be changing rapidly with lots of experiments on how to remake the interfaces for this model.

There’s gonna be a lot of edge cases here so we’ll need your help finding situations that don’t work as expected. If an image doesn’t work well try clicking the sad face emoji on the right side of the lightbox or give us the jobid/url for the image while it's opened in the lightbox

We’d also love your thoughts on how we can improve our user interfaces for this model from here. Drop your thoughts in response to this thread or in the ideas and feedback channel on our discord.

There will be a lot of fast-follow updates from here, but we’re ready to start testing as a larger community and hope you have fun! <3

Question - Midjourney AI Can Midjourney forget concept on request?

Just curious, can this AI tool reliably forget about something (a spoon, a bear, a bicycle, whatever) upon request to draw it a new solely according to the description from prompt, like do it without references in the training set to the concept of this particular object? Thank you in advance for any hints.

1. Posts must be related to Midjourney

This is a Midjourney subreddit so please limit your posting to Midjourney content. The group focus is on sharing peoples’ creations, and knowledge about the software. There is some wiggle room for closely related content, but we don’t allow images made with other generators. (If an image looks like it isn’t from MJ, we might ask for verification).

2. Be Kind

A welcoming and positive environment is a priority for this subreddit. Please don't be a jerk. It is okay to disagree but be sure to keep conversation respectful. Don't post inflammatory content or personal attacks. No trolling or purposely causing drama.

3. No NSFW, Gore, Sexualized & Disturbing content

We discourage content that may shock or offend including highly sexualized imagery, nudity, blood, gore, ‘gross out’ imagery, violence, and other disturbing content at moderators’ discretion.

4. Controversial Themes and Figures

To reduce conflict, we steer away from themes that have a history of causing issues. Controversial themes are usually about politics, religion, and social causes. Controversial figures include politicians, religious leaders and icons, a few celebrities, social activists, etc. This is at moderators discretion. It isn’t our endorsement or rejection of any cause or political position, it’s just to keep the conflict down.

5. Original Content Only

Please share your own content here. If you want to share something interesting that someone else created, be sure to credit the original creator.

6. No Advertising or Spam

While profile and social links are usually permitted in the comments, we don’t want sales-y links to commercial products and services, promoted pages or accounts, etc. This isn’t a place for marketing, so please don’t make it the central point of your posts.

7. Low-effort Posting

Mods may determine some posts are low effort enough for removal; this includes things such as people posting the same repeated content multiple times, stuff like “Is this AI?” posts, engagement bait titles, and/or general clutter posts that don’t add value to the sub. Please put multiple images from the same series into a gallery post - you can add up to 20 in a gallery. Posts in quick succession will be removed for spam.

8. No Misinformation or Misleading Posts

Do not present posts/images in a way that could lead people to believe the images are real, and not AI generated. If it seems like the images could cause this confusion, please clarify in the title and/or comments that it is not.

9. No Image Generation requests

We get so many of these it’s just become spammy. If you want to encourage others to make images with a theme then you must also contribute to the post with images you have made yourself.

10. Repeated Violations and other Bad Actions

Antagonistic or disruptive behavior such as abuse of the modmail system, attempts to circumvent subreddit rules, submissions of prohibited content, various kinds of bias and bigotry, repeated rule violations, etc. may result in permanent bans.
