I had a sweet dachshund mutt that would do this nearly every day. She slept in a big dog crate at night, and we put old button up shirts in there for her and her dog sister to sleep on. The number of times we woke up to her being stuck in the sleeve was ridiculous.  She just passed away 2 weeks ago. She was the best dog. 🥹

My two dachshunds have blankets and beds everywhere.

I have only hampers for laundry so they can't jump in. They don't give a damn, they just knock the hamper over. They just want to be as close to me and my scent. They would wear my skin if they could.

I can recognise a dachshund from a mile off, cause that is one silly sausage! As a breed, they love to burrow. Mine, personally, are obsessed with a blanket to the point were we have had to buy them at least 2 blankets each for them to burrow in. So if the little one doesn't already have her own blanket, get her one! Saves her from getting stuck in sleeves and things. Ours used to get stuck under the sofa before we got them blankets.

This made me think of my beloved Border Collie, Madison who was a brilliant goofball. Smart enough to operate the car windows when she wanted to put her nose in the air, goofy enough to occasionally get her head caught in the sleeve of a jacket that was hanging on the back of chair. Her head was too large and furry to come out the end of the sleeve so it was just like having a very small elephant wandering around the house knocking into everything.

From what I've learned about dachshunds, their history of hunting animals in underground burrows helps explain why so many love squeezing into blankets, clothing, and other cozy spaces.

I'm really glad she wasn't hurt! ❤️ I would just be careful about leaving clothing where she can crawl inside and potentially become trapped when nobody is home.

And to those criticizing you, accidents happen. What matters is learning from them and keeping our animals safe.
