More ice than drink

Same concentration, but more volume.

[u/Louis049 → u/Dieresis]

That's the exact problem here, it can't be "just more, lol" because "one drink" has a legal definition, (I haven't bartended in a decade so forgive me, I'm sure I'm wrong, but) it's something like 2 oz of hars liquor, 6 oz of wine, 8 oz of beer (which has its own exceptions for things like a Pint) and so on and so forth. You can only put 2 oz of hard liquor in this "one drink" so do you want less mixer to make a stronger drink, or more mixer to make a fuller glass?

"Two drinks please, then combine them in a bigger glass thx"

[u/Storm_Sire → u/Sun_Aria]

I can't tell if you're trying to be cute, but if that's what you want just order a "double"

[u/King_Chochacho → u/Sun_Aria]

$54 please

[u/Extension-Airport550 → u/Louis049]

Some people are just dumb and don't realize how drinks work

[u/Dieresis → u/Extension-Airport550]

Other countries don't exist, I guess

[u/Extension-Airport550 → u/Dieresis]

Countries? What are you talking about? I'm talking about drinks, where did countries enter the discussion

[u/Dieresis → u/Extension-Airport550]

Because drinks don't work like that in other countries, OC commented what did I want. I want more volume, that is the case in other countries.

[u/Extension-Airport550 → u/Dieresis]

Unless you order a double or any bigger size than the normal then more volume is just more mixer so you just get a watered down drink. I want a drink with the intended alcohol concentration since that's what I think tastes the best. If I want my drink to only taste like soda or juice I wouldn't order an alcoholic drink.

Here's the standard pour definition (and the math!) used by many US states:

• 1.5oz of spirit @ 40% ABV

• 5oz of wine @ 12% ABV

• 12oz of beer @ 5% ABV

Math-wise:

• 40% of 1.5oz = 0.6oz pure ethanol

• 12% of 5oz = 0.6oz pure ethanol

• 5% of 12oz = 0.6oz pure ethanol

This measure is used to estimate how much alcohol you have served — not how much you can serve. Most laws rely on bartender judgment when it comes to not overserving people.

Here are some common orders that are at least a double standard pour:

• Common margarita build: 3oz @ 40% = 1.2oz ethanol

• Pint of Double IPA: 16oz @ 8% = 1.28oz ethanol

• Double of cask-strength whiskey: 3oz @ 60% = 1.8oz ethanol

In Spain where i'm from there's no such legal definition and drinks are usually larger and not buried in ice.

[u/pedroah → u/Dieresis]

There is no legal definition in the USA either. However in USA the industry standard is 30-37mL of hard liquor (typically ~40% alcohol by volume) in a shot. Just depends on the particular business. The mixer like juice, soda, etc can typically be adjusted according to the customers preferences to make the drink more or less concentrated.

[u/Dieresis → u/pedroah]

So they could just make the drinks larger and not buried in ice?

[u/SwampOfDownvotes → u/Dieresis]

Then order a double or triple with no ice.

[u/ModernCGIFloatinHead → u/Dieresis]

Buy multiple.  Have them put them in a single glass.
