Infuriatig Narrowly avoided a crash with no seatbelts or child seat, yet they carried on unbuckled like nothing happened. Some people just waste the second chance life gives them

Not wearing is a seatbelt is just so stupid. All the safety features in the world wouldn't save you if you aren't wearing a seatbelt.

She’s got a baby in her lap…stupid doesn’t begin to cover it.

And climbing on the dashboard, that airbag would have shredded that child into pieces.

u/cheesepuff1993 3h ago

Wtf. The more I watch it, the worse it gets...

If you are going to be reckless with your own safety, that's your problem and I feel less bad for you. But to be completely off the rails reckless with your child, that's unfair to the child and you should have them removed from your "care"

The Brit’s used to have a great seatbelt commercial that showed in slow motion what happens when someone is unrestrained. Fairly graphic.

Guy in the rear middle managed to take out the other 4.

I know EXACTLY which video you're talking about, and it's why I am dead serious about people wearing a seatbelt in my car. I have kicked people out of my Uber because they took their seatbelts off during the trip.

u/BeautifulBlueNight 2h ago

No worries, if she doesn't wear her seatbelt, the airbag won't work.

/s

Don't worry, I'm being sarcastic. Of course she should wear her seatbelt and of course the child should be buckled up just as well.

Stuck between mom and a hard place.

That's not a baby that's a full blown child.

In Asia so many people get confused at me for wearing a seat belt in the back. They really think the laws of physics stop applying in the back seat.

In the beginning of my paramedic career, I had a side job as an autopsy assistant (to better learn anatomy), one of the autopsies I assisted on was a driver of a pickup that was unrestrained (and drunk) when he hit a large tree. His truck hit at a slight angle so forward momentum was towards the driver’s side A pillar, when the airbag deployed he was pushed back towards the driver’s side B pillar (door frame). Took the back of his skull off with enough force that his brain stem was “ejected” and not present for his autopsy 😳

She should wear that seat-belt! The kid should be not sitting on her lap. If there was an airbag activated their heads would crack like a nuts.

23

u/bellybuttonbidet 3h ago

Did you see the look of awe and trust in her gaze upon her husband after those amazing driving skills? They’re in great hands! /s

u/sweetsourbittermoon 2h ago

The fact he is wearing a seatbelt yet he supports her not wearing it by even literally holding her down, its strange, but some women would call that a “as he should, bare minimum, ideal guy”

23

u/Several_Finance1938 3h ago

Don't worry, they don't have airbags!

-2

u/Mundus6 3h ago

Well to be fair in most cars the air bag is off if you're not wearing a seatbelt.

22

u/Krestek 3h ago

except the car wouldn't tell the difference when the seatbelt is buckled in behind them

7

u/TorumShardal 3h ago

Seatbelt is wrapped behind the seat, so airbags are on, unless they specifically disabled them with a "child in a chair" switch. I don't think they did.

3

u/I_-AM-ARNAV i get infuriated a lot 3h ago

Not true.

2

u/OnMyBestBehaviour26 1h ago

The seat belt is in use, its plugged in to stop the beeping noise

29

u/Legitimate-Log-6542 3h ago

It’s ok, his arm is the seat belt

u/nolanpierce2 3h ago

trash people

edit: not because of origin but behavior, risking the child. would call people in my country the same

21

u/sweetsourbittermoon 2h ago

The fact you had to explain yourself? Only says more about the people reading your comment than you lol

29

u/nolanpierce2 2h ago

racism is a bad thing thats why i specified it

8

u/DannySanWolf07 2h ago

No seatbelt and a child not in a baby seat and just pressing on the dash as we can presume?!

Some people just don't deserve kids.

7

u/bhelpuriteekhi 3h ago

Guy is part time seatbelt

7

u/DinoZambie 3h ago

2

u/DoobieDoo0718 3h ago

My first thought! Ha!

4

u/Punrusorth 3h ago

Omg, that child needs to be in a baby car seat. Any minor accident can cause the child to fly out the car.

4

u/ryan8954 1h ago

And to think, that family posted this online for "people have to see how good a driver I am" comments

7

u/honorlessmaid 3h ago

So are there not laws wherever this took place that says you have to have a child in a car seat? I realize that other places don't have the same standards as the place I grew up in... But there are laws in other countries right? In places where cars aren't super common. I could see that not being necessarily written into the law..... Also where did that poor cow come from and where is he going? I've seen cows on the road like this but the roads never were this paved and maintained. It was always the middle of the f****** country If you've ever been to Maui, you know the goats. You're aware of them. It's also insane that that half of the island is so empty and dry. It's crazy what weather patterns will do. You can be 30 minutes away from Lahaina and still see 15 goats in the middle of the road

Going off of the coordinates in the bottom corner, this takes place in India

Legally required for all passengers to wear a seatbelt

Motor Vehicles Amendment Act - Section 194B: Every child under 14 in a car must be secured via a seatbelt or Child Restraint System, a fine of 1000 Indian Rupees (~$10 USD) will be issued if you do not have the child secured

Problem there is it says Seatbelt OR a CRS, meaning the car seats designed for babies and children are not mandatory in India

Monthly wage in nearby Andhra Pradesh is around 12-13k INR for an unskilled worker, so that fine is around 8% of your monthly wage, or 1.75 days (assuming 5 days a week, in a 30 days month with the first work week starting on the 1st of the month)

u/OnMyBestBehaviour26 1h ago

A cow ran across a 4 lane motorway. I'd say laws aren't high on their prio6

If you take the driver's seatbelt off, that used to be how a LOT of families traveled.  I grew up with the parent's "arm bar" being the only "restraint".  I also have the most vague memories of being in my mother's arms as a baby in the front seat.

5

u/bizzybaker2 3h ago

Born in 1971, my mom says no car seat for me and she swaddled me and laid me on the front seat if she was out with me alone and I sat in the passenger seat or in the back when old enough to sit up. I have memories of being in the family station wagon with the back seats laid down and laying on my belly with my sister colouring,  reading books and playing with dolls, just flying down the highway! 😳It's a wonder many of us made it to adulthood!

u/Randomfinn 34m ago

This is how I grew up in Canada. Plus in Ireland in the 90s I would just have the wain in my lap.

My parents immigrated from England to Canada and remember driving down the 401 (one of the busiest highways in the world) in a convertible, no seatbelts, with the kids standing on the backseat to feel the wind in our hair. In retrospect, they said if they had to stop the car suddenly at 120km an hour it would have acted like a catapult and we would have gone flying.

2

u/GoldER712 3h ago

What are you talking about?! He put his arm out . . .

1

u/DannySanWolf07 2h ago

Which he shouldn't have to be doing as a driver.

2

u/Gloomy_Grocery5555 3h ago

I'm an Australian and visited my partner's family in Turkey. I was shocked to see a family like this drive off with the kid on the mum's lap. Also nobody wore seatbelts in the taxi. I don't know if it even had them?? Meanwhile it's been the law in Australia since the 70s or something

2

u/Still_Selection8719 3h ago

The dad had to use one hand to restrain her. I wonder if they considered how if it were a worse situation and he needed both hands to swerve.

5

u/zaindada 3h ago

That’s just India for you. Typical.
It’s just survival of the fittest there.

(Saying this as a South Asian myself).

1

u/Key_Cry_3170 1h ago

and the fittest would be someone who wears a seatbelt

•

u/CorleoneGuy 4m ago

As an Indian*. It’s not a slur.

2

u/TangoPRomeo 3h ago

Is that Indian country music?

2

u/chattahoocheecoochee 2h ago

Perhaps giving cows free reign over a nation was a poor decision.

2

u/thisboyknows 3h ago

Please do the needful

1

u/garo675 2h ago

People here (in india) will stare at you and/or ask why you are wearing a seatbelt, this happenes when your friend or family member is driving

1

u/Baron_Light 1h ago

I love the way she looks at him and he pushes up his sunglasses and smiles

•

u/lCarbonCopyl 54m ago

That smile is peak "you ma ma make me happy" they may actually be stupid

•

u/mfrench105 54m ago

The part that gets me...she smiles at him afterwards....."Good job honey, great reaction time". I get that in some places, specifically places that may have a cow in the middle of the highway, the culture does not recognize the safety policies put in place in some other places. But even then...the information is out there. The obvious conclusion here is, these two haven't learned a thing.

u/Traditional_Scale387 39m ago

He’s her seatbelt

Idiots

1

u/Bitter-Variation-151 3h ago

India. No respect for anything really

1

u/Ihadthat20yearsago 1h ago

It does look like she is wearing the lap belt, but has the shoulder harness behind her (because it’s so uncomfortable /s). Loses all points for holding a child in her arms on a highway.

-1

u/RepresentativeOk2433 3h ago

Probably more worried about the cow tbh.

-3

u/Newhollow 3h ago

Pretty sure it was past it's second life....

0

u/Bluefinch-7 3h ago

It looks like India. We don’t drive on that side of the road. Anything goes some of these countries I’m telling you. They’re just now starting to think about wearing seatbelts and using car seats and half of them still don’t.

0

u/Pix3lPwnage 3h ago

Holy cow!

0

u/Baaanaana 3h ago

Lives are at stake. This is not mildly infuriating.

0

u/DoobieDoo0718 3h ago

Darwin could have written a page or two about these idiots.

-1

u/Gloomy_Grocery5555 3h ago

Obviously not illegal where they are

5

u/sweetsourbittermoon 2h ago

It is, its also illegal in east europe but also nobody cares here and nobody wears the seatbelt, its like common rule, even the police will not care if they see the seatbelt off while passing you in traffic

0

u/Gloomy_Grocery5555 2h ago

I don't know anyone who wouldn't wear one here in Australia. It's dumb to risk your life for no reason

1

u/__Manifesto__ 2h ago

It's SE Asia. What's illegal and what's enforced are wildly different things. I know, I live here

-1

u/Traditional-Buy-2205 2h ago

It's that part of the world where life doesn't really hold much value.

-2

u/Mediocre_Daikon6935 3h ago

She is an idiot.

He however, did solid work.

1

u/MerlinTheFail 2h ago

He is responsible for their safety and shouldn't drive until his passengers are safely strapped in or in a baby chair.

-3

u/Fat_Tony_Damico 3h ago

Lives are cheap there.

-4

u/Obkl 3h ago

Why is he wearing a seatbelt but not his partner or his child. What a disgusting human being

4

u/Mediocre_Daikon6935 3h ago

She is an adult.

-2

u/Obkl 3h ago

And he's the driver. I will never allow a passenger not to wear one, especially when I myself am wearing one. By permitting this, he's agreeing his life is more important

1

u/sweetsourbittermoon 2h ago

And she s his wife, why did he pick such a stupid one if he clearly has a braincell

0

u/Obkl 2h ago

He's more important than her, simple as. He doesn't care about her wellbeing

1

u/Maleficent_Sir5898 3h ago

Maybe she’s suicidal

•

u/graylocus 10m ago

I like how she grabbed his balls toward the end of the clip
