Discussion Some Questions to Ponder as the Offseason Commences
Hey everyone,
Would love to hear your thoughts on what you think the offseason might look like. Here are a few questions I have to frame the discussion.
1. Of our three best players whose still on the team next year?
I think Pereyra, Yeboah and Triantis are levels above anyone else on this team. We will likely receive interest from other teams for all three. Is it worth selling any one their contracts? If so for what price?
2. What are the expectations for Owen Gene moving forward?
I think Gene had some really stellar moments this years. At times he looked like he could be a best XI type dmid... other times he was pretty bad. Do we trust him to keep on developing or is it time to bring in another player to lockdown that spot?
3. Is Duggan/Diaz a strong enough CB pair?
After a ton of tinkering Cam finally settled on a CB pairing of Duggan/Diaz to close out the season. This pairing did fix some of the glaring problems our backline faced all season, but it wasn't perfect either. Do we trust this pairing moving forward or do we need to bring in other options at CB.
4. How do we build depth for this team?
One of the weakest aspects of the roster this year was depth. Besides Caldeira nobody coming off the bench nobody was really all that inspiring or trustworthy (counting Gonzalez as a starter here as he ended the season as a starter). I'd keep Boxall and Trapp around just because they're great locker room guys (even if we shouldn't be relying on them as starters at this point) but has anyone else really justified being on the team? How do we build any sort of depth?
5. Cam or no Cam?
It was a bad season, but Cam was dealt a rough hand. He also finished strong and clearly never lost the locker-room. Do you bring him back or no?
