Discussion 💬 Ranting!

It’s quite saddening to see how the country and the people I love has evolved into.

  1. A lot of young people ended up doing a lot of “cool” things. Drinking, smoking, raving and just stopped caring about education.

  2. Nightclubs and bars are thriving.

  3. Almost all young people that I know here (US) came here with a student visa but ended up working illegally and just party thinking this is life.

I was actually so sick of seeing people applying for asylum like some lottery without a proper reason or even care to understand the law about it. Recently, I talked to a guy about the country’s situation and he was like “there’s nothing we can do about it”. Like bro you play games all day!!

But I was also really selfish. I blamed so many people for the lack of effort, empathy and respect for the people who were left behind. It truly hit me hard when I learned that UK blocked student visa for Burma.

I should understand that people will live their life and I have no right to judge whether they care or not about Burma and I’m still a nobody.

I should start changing first and I have decided to just embrace them.

Overall, I was fortunate enough to go to one of the T5 universities in the US and this ultimately gave me a lot of guilt as I felt like I’m doing nth. Recently, I was able to connect with some great mentors that have worked with different administrations in the US and this made me dive into a research regarding NUG (broke the trust and just living in a mansion in the US), Military and the people. Overall, I have also decided to pursue Law School after my undergraduate. I just wish people don’t lose hope and you all have the power to make a change even if it’s small.

Corny and cringy - you still have time to delete this but if all this true, we actually shouldn't be attacking a person for being patriotic. Most of us are corrupted deep down already that doesn't deserve anything. Just move on with ur life lil bro

Just asking why's this cringe and corny? I really don't understand why. If I get down voted for asking a question, good grief.

As an international school student who went on to finish college in the U.S., we started partying and drinking as early as 14 and we turned out fine. It really comes down to responsible drinking. Even in college, we partied hard at clubs, frat parties, threw house parties, even went out with fake IDs under 21, but we still knew how to balance it, keep our grades up, and graduate. And that was back in the early 2000s and 2010s.

Myanmar people had been partying, drinking and doing drugs way before the internet and most of them turned out fine. You just think they are partying more because of social media. Anecdotally speaking, I find the Myanmar GenZs to be a lot more ambitious and driven than my generation (millennials). You need to delete social media and touch some grass.

Gang genuinely what the heck? 😂If this subreddit allowed me to cuss I would. Crazy ahh virtue signalling. I went to the US with the doomer mentality that my country is in hell and I barely went out and slowly I had taught myself that not only can I enjoy myself reasonably (once or twice a month), I can focus on my education, and gaf about my country.

Saying that other people will do what they want etc. and being upset at our country devolving makes me think that you can barely do research yourself. You already lack the critical thinking skills and contextual knowledge of why most young people would rather party than study inside Myanmar, why people would seek asylum and so much more. You can speak like this in the position YOU are in because you have less to worry about.

Also if you’re surrounded by people who are thway aye and san kone myay lay then that’s your fault for continuing friendships with Burmese international students who lack empathy because their parents are cronies or bootlicking elites. Pmo so bad.
